This issue has been brought to their attention but they haven't responded yet and I don't think they will.
What they said was "getting duplicate collectibles won't be a problem" but what they probably meant was "you can and will get duplicates but the vanilla UI will hide these from you so it will appear as if you didn't."
Guess they didn't account for loot drop AddOns showing the truth.

@Apache_Kid
Interesting. Well I can only speak for myself but when I read that getting duplicate collectibles during this event wouldn't be a problem, I assumed that meant those things wouldn't be in my loot pool. Finding out that these duplicates are still polluting your loot pool isn't that bad on it's own, but it's that they tried to hide this fact by making the drops invisible that is a little dirty in my opinion.
Just be honest next time...

Well thats a huge disadvantage to those that already dished out crowns for stuff... no?

This isn't about giving crown spenders things they would otherwise buy...

I would think its about letting everyone have an equal chance to get stuff they dont have. Its a finger to those that sub. But hey scorn those people all you want - theyre just financing the game.
I wouldn't call what Rich said "surprised and downplayed" he simply explained that how ESO mechanics work.
Conversation for those interested:
I think it's all just how each person interpreted the statement. Technically Gina is right, you don't get duplicates, however we all took that to mean you won't lose out on rewards and will always get something new.
I think that's surprise in regards to the functionality as a whole though, not surprised over the anger.Apache_Kid wrote: »I wouldn't call what Rich said "surprised and downplayed" he simply explained that how ESO mechanics work.

"Why is this suddenly news" is what he said. That sounds like surprise to me.

I don't think this is some great secret screw job but just misunderstandings. I took Gina's messages the same as everyone else, but thinking rationally I can see where potentially there were misunderstandings.

They made some comments on Twitter. Basically that they were surprised that people were mad. Downplayed the whole thing.
Edit: was Rich that made the comments on Twitter
Oh I'm not mad at all, was just confused! It's still a great event. The only thing I could possibly criticize is that it is more likely to reward people who have bought nothing than those who have bought much out of the cash shop, since as you collect more you are more likely to get duplicates, but mad? Heck no, and I'm glad that people who missed out on the cool mounts and costumes the first time around due to artificial scarcity are getting a shot at it, and for free to boot. The more the merrier.
