I only chose from a small list of pets that are not noisy... and that list is pretty small (at least from the ones I have.)

So I stuck mostly with the Scuttler and the the dog... there are others I like but they're too damn noisy!

If you are doing any Vet Trials or NA Trials you will know why

And those who don't there is a high chance you will be kicked out of them if you don't put your pet away as pets increase already big lag

My monkey (although not my favorite) marks my character as Beta. That is special.

They will match some theme I’m going for. Same goes for the mount. Then I try to match a costume and dyes so they’re all a happy matching trio.

I generally have "themes" for my characters - it's not strictly an RP issue, although it does sort of set the baseline if I do RP them, but it's more just for my personal sense of...immersion, I guess...it helps me design their gameplay style, skill development, visual style, and more - if I have some sense of "theme" for each of them...

and this extends to their pets - for example...

My main is more or less divided amongst 2 main pets - 1, the mudcrab that I got for open beta playing - plus, I love crabs in general...but he also ADORES his blue kindlespit dragon frog - those things are hilariously adorably awesome...
frog = adorable - fire-breathing = awesome - flying = plus blue = perfect

so, my main swaps between those

my templar is my "paladin" of sorts, so he sorta goes traditional - classic white horse and either companion dog or war dog...

my sorceress is into the mystical, weird, and vaguely dangerous, so she rides my senche mount and is followed by my viper, or whatever magicky serious-style pets I can find

my khajit nb is my comic relief character, so he's gathered about himself a menagerie attempting to encompass all the primary animal types (he's a cat that becomes a werewolf, rides a lizard and is followed around either by insects or things like the netch)

and so on...

I don't try to use "suitable" pets and mounts - all my characters have same pet and same mount

I had a Ratter cat following me long time ago - I did lot of fishing back then, and cute kitty sounds were nice addition to the atmosphere. But when I got opportunity, I bought Sep Adder - I simply love those little cute snakes I spent some time in Hew's Bane watching wild Adders before I decided - I really want to have one always following me so I can watch it anytime I like



If there were no Sep Adder, I would use Nix-Hound - also very cute thing, but has only one special animation which is not impressive Nix-Hound which we can see in Clockwork quest has some awesome idle animations, I would love if out pet version could have same idle animations. It was long time since I had such fun in this game - I was hopping around on the mount and two hounds were hopping together with me



Mudcrab pet is also very cute, but since it's very old one, I think it doesn't even have any special idle animations. And I haven't bought Imperial Edition yet to check it.

Monkey for my theif, turtle for my tank, firey kagouti for my DK, skelly guar for my sorcerer.

They're all appropriately thematic for what they are/do, reguardless if I actually RP with them or not. I like things to match a coherent theme or it drives me bonkers.

Same here! My main always keeps the Bantam Guar by her side. And some others have pets that suit them, including the desert lizard, the pig and the cute little bear. Some don't want a pet at all, that's their choice!
I love the badger but haven't got a char who'd match it yet.

beta monkey, but sometimes I'm getting bored of it so it can be pretty random.

Simply why should I use them? Im a pragmatic. If non-combat pet model and textures could cause a lag for my enemies I would use them for sure xDDDD
