Inviting players to your guild has become a nightmare

So with the new update (on console) it has become very annoying to invite people to the guild. Now you can ONLY invite people who are not yet in 5 guilds already. However, most people are already in 5 guilds and when they ask you to invite them it is impossible. People won't just randomly leave a guild and start looking for another one, they will leave when they get the better alternative so they will always have 5 guilds up. about 80% of my sent invitations to people don't actually get them because of this new 'feauture'. It actually happend again just right now writing tis... so annoying!!
Pleaaaase change this again ZOS, eventho you never ever reply to one of my forum posts ever or listen to the community at all....
cheers

Makes sense really. If you are in 5 guilds wich is the max, it makes perfect sense that you cant receive new invites.

Why would you send an invite to someone that's already in 5 guilds? By definition, they don't need it. If they are shopping around for a new guild, they can simply leave one, then ask you for an invite. Perhaps I'm not getting what the issue is here.

I don't get the issue. If they have 5/5 but are looking for a new and 'better' guild, wouldn't they have to leave one guild anyways?

If I am invited to a party that is at 8pm this Saturday and am planning to/will attend, why can i not still receive an invitation for a party that same night at 8pm? The maximum amount of places I can be at the same time is only ONE but i am still able to receive another invitation.

This was either a terrible, unannounced, intended change, or a bug. It was not like this before so it should be put back to the way it was or we should get a comment on why it was changed.

For me, I will always stay in 5, then if i receive an invite to a guild i wana join more than my 5th least important guild, i will drop that one and accept the invite. I imagine lots of players do the same.

This, plus if someone asks you to invite them it only takes a second to ask them to make sure they have a free slot first. It sounds like this is more about random unsolicited invites not being received because they're sent to people who have 5 guilds already, and anything that prevents those being received is a good thing in my view!

Bug. Console has the same issue as PC - We have users with 4 guilds, sometimes only 3 guilds who can't accept a new invite. When you send the invite, you're told they must leave a guild first - even though they acutally have 1 or 2 open guild slots...

Since the game launched, a guild invite would get sent even if they were already in 5 guilds.

From the standpoint of getting spammed random invites I didn't ask for, I kinda like that the invite won't get sent because I'm in 5 guilds.

But from the standpoint of a GM who gets numerous requests a day to join our 2 trading guilds, it turns into a unnecessary back and forth.

Mail from recruit: Can I join your guild?
Mail from me: Sorry, I can't invite you because you're already in 5.
Mail from them: OK, I dropped one
Mail from me: remind me which of our 2 guilds you wanted to join?
Mail from them: The one in _______

What used to be a simple invite after getting an email has turned into 4-5 e-mails to get it done.

I don't disagree that people could simply drop a guild before asking to join one but a lot of people don't, especially when it comes to trade guilds. They'll wait to drop until their turn on the waitlist comes up in that other guild they want to join.

Not the end of the world, I can adapt, but I would prefer it revert back to the way it was. Let the invite go through regardless. Doesn't hurt anything and it does save time for GMs/Officers of very active guilds.

Actually I think this has always been the case. I've had this this pop up before CWC dropped. I really don't think it's all that bad. A quick "Hey it won't let me invite you because you're at 5 guilds already, let me know when you're ready for another invite" usually works just fine for me. If they really want the invite, they get back to me. If not, I just move on my merry way...

I don't know if the latest maintenance covered the glitch or not, but as the other posters pointed out, this has been a problem on pc recently. If you're in 5 guilds and drop one to join a new one, the "dropping one" doesn't seem to register. You get the message "You must drop one guild before accepting an invitation". I dropped one guild, but can't accept the invite to the new I was interested in.

Does the message persist if you log out and back in? It may take that for the game to save the fact that you've left a guild.

Good Riddance. I'm sick of people throwing me random guild invites.

If you want to invite someone to a guild and they are in five guild already, it's trivial to communicate when to send the invite.

Yes, it did get fixed on PC. Perhaps it is just taking a little longer for consoles as patches/fixes are always a few weeks behind for consoles. Have faith, the fix is coming...:)

Lol... Me too! 3 of my 5 I have had since 4/2014!!
The only reason I knew about it is I am a GM and had several new folks that had to wait on the fix to get them invited. I feel for those who are still experiencing it tho..

The new invite behavior is equivalent to forcing someone to move out of their old home while they are still in negotiation to purchase their new home. It's extremely inconvenient for all parties involved and wholly unnecessary. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

    Imagine this scenario:

Applicant: I've just left my social guild; could I please join your guild?

Guild: Sorry, we're currently full; I could place you on the waitlist, but it might be two weeks before an opening
    -or-
Guild: We've reviewed your application and have concluded that you would not be a good fit for our guild. Sorry.

Applicant: Hey, social guild, any chance you could please invite me back?

This is particularly annoying if the correspondence is not live--i.e., via mails that someone might be reading hours or days later.

The previous method worked perfectly. If someone was in 5 guilds and got an invite, they'd have to drop a guild to accept. But they had control over when to drop that guild. It allowed them to make sure that they really could get into the new guild before leaving.

    Wow many replies!

    Just to straighten things up:

    1) I am NOT inviting random people who do not ask to join the guild aka "spamming invites"
    2) WHY should people not be able to receive an invite to another guild when they ask for it, even when they are in 5 guilds?
    3) Why should people be forced to leave a guild, eventho they are not 100% sure they can join another guild?

its what many people say... why would you be forced to leave your house when you are not even sure you have a new one.

BTW: its actually totally bugged and messed up, because even when you ask them to leave a current guild, you still cant invite them sometimes, I met people who were only in 3 guilds and sometimes it just woudn't let me invite them.

If you have planned to send an invite to someone then it's down to them to leave one, allowing you to invite them.

I imagine you're one of these in a main city spamming invites to everyone you see. The worst. I'm glad I'm in 5 guilds and don't receive random invites I didn't even ask for.

The solution is not to send auto invites but first start a conversation and ask if he'she is ready to join, and only then send invite.
I was invited that way recently after short conversation and when the guild leader inviting me realised I'm already in 5 guilds he informed me about this, then I quickly quit one guild and joined a new one. I really see no problem in existing system.

If only GMs had the time to have a conversation with all 500 people before they will join the guild. Good idea but not realistic.

No, they don't. We built two guilds to max (less than 10 days to fill each) via advertising without spamming one unwanted invite.

Never understood spamming invites unless you just want a headcount and absolutely don't care who's in your guild....

...but that's not the point of this thread. Up until recently, you could send an invite to someone in 5 guilds. Then you couldn't.
From what I'm reading in the replies to this thread, that may have been resolved on PC...will have to check.

Like I said, it isn't the end of the world, but it really does (did?) drag out the process over days in a lot of cases when you're dealing with a recruit via the mail system.

Is the GM the only person who can issue an invite in ESO? I wouldn't know as I've never been in an ESO guild but in other MMOs officers can invite new members and it doesn't all fall on the GM to run things.
