4 Man Dungeon Leaderboards!

Apparently this wasn´t my idea. But it´s a really good one. One of my friends mentioned that a while back and i think it would bring a lot of new endgame content to the game which people could enjoy.

It´s about 4-man dungeons and a leaderboard for their veteran version like for Trials. Why would you do that ? It would make Dungeons more relevant again and people would start doing them again and they had way more replay value. At the moment you most likely just do them do do your daily pledges, but even that is quite rare as most people have everything they need from these dungeons.

On top you could also introduce Gold jewellery for dungeons, awarded from being on the leaderboards. This would make a lot of sense as it is pointless in not having some sets coming with Gold-Jewellery. Yes, it is not a big difference but first of all it would keep people busy and spending time on rather "old" content and it would also help people like me who like to min-max things as good as possible. And tbh who doesn´t want to war Gold instead of Purple jewellery.

There are a lot of ways to handle that, the simple way is to make it like Trial-Leaderboards. Just choose 3 Dungeons randomly each week and class them as "Weekly-Dungeons" then start and get scores for it. Also you could add even more rewards like special mounts of furniture. I know that most likely wont happen as ZOS doesnt like people getting rewarded from doing content, but i think it would add so much replay value to "old" content.

    yeah i think this is a good idea, but make the leaderboards not about speed, its an approach that ruins the gameplay for me, just people charging towards bosses aoe ing everything in sight,
    come up with an equation such as the one ive developed:

    Xdamage out - (damage taken- mitigated / healing received) + Bonus such as HM points
    TIME



    okay i made that equation up . it doesnt mean anything - but i do want a system that ranks based on good damage, good tanking, good healing and time- not just time and deaths- as almost every score in this game is as of now.

    True but doesnt mean good damage, good tanking and good healing that you will complete it faster ? i just think every group should bring points, so skipping doesnt get awarded as much.

    What happens when I solo them? Do I get more points for doing so or fewer for taking longer than a 4 person group?

    I question leaderboards for content that isn’t difficult enough to require a certain number of players to complete.

    Given the level of DPS that is necessary for trials makes dungeons trivial, I'm not exactly sure what 4-man dungeon leaderboards are supposed to show. That you can burn a boss?

    We already get rewards for doing certain Daily dungeons, including extra for veteran hardmode completions. I simply don't see anything that special about the difficulty of a veteran hardmode dungeon that would merit giving it a leaderboard.

    would still not make me go back into certain dungeons...
    I only go in there when a dungeons is daily and my slayer achievment in there isnt complete. Or when new gearsets become strong which can only be dropped in dungeons.

    For some ppl nice, but not for me ;)

    @VaranisArano as i said make it worth to do it again. golden jewellery is a start, special mounts whatever, it is fun, not about showing to burn bosses. It´s a bonus, not taking away anything so why would you be against it. If you think it´s elitism dont do it ? Coz maybe you dont need the Gold Jewellery, but why not give it to the people who want to do it ? I dont get that pointless arguing against stuff, only coz some people cant do it or dont want to do it!

    And if you do it solo ?Why not you dont get super fancy achievements etc. but you might get a lower score coz you may be dying or take more time.

    Actually i think it might trigger more casuals to compete, not the "elite". and thats okay - even good i'd say. and btw. some hodor guys totally suck in dungeons.

    I've suggested this many times. This game has 30 dungeons. ZOS needs to make full use of them.

    Sure. I’d love a weekly dungeon or set of dungeons where there is a new much harder difficulty unlocked for those certain dungeon, that drops gold jewellery and has leaderboards. Why not?

    It could be for DLC dungeons only.

    But even with the base game dungeons, the competition would be around who has the highest DPS, and that's fine.

Your proposed rewards would be nice - who's really going to say no to a chance at gold jewelry? But this is essentially asking ZOS to attach extra bribes to the content we already do for existing rewards, and moreover, its content that isn't that hard compared to the content that actually has leaderboards. The next closest thing is Veteran DSA, which is considerable longer than any 4-man dungeon.

    From a perspective of "how do we get more players in dungeons?" your suggestion has merit. ZOS is already adding rewards like transmutation geodes to get players into dungeons. But looking at it from the perspective of "How do 4-man dungeons stack up against the rest of the end-game content in terms of difficulty?", I think that leaderboards for 4-man dungeons are unnecessary. For groups that regularly do trials and arenas or even vet hardmode dungeons, the content simply isn't difficult enough to merit the competition of a leaderboard.

    What about a daily-based leadboard? The dungeons which are daily have a dily leaderboard and the best of that day get a reward. u have only one chance with ur first run.

    @VaranisArano and why is it harder to buy jewellery from a trader in Cyrodiil ? your point makes no sense really. As i said it isn´t a big difference, but why is there gold jewellery for some sets, and for others there isnt. It makes no sense at all. I just think it would make dungeons way more interesting again. And it would be fair coz as mentioned above i dont think buying jewellery from a vendor is more challenging :)

    The Golden Vendor was recently updated so that it will include golden jewelry from more sets, including more overland sets. The Golden Vendor was first introduced for PVP players who complained about having to PVE in order to get the good stuff. (Which at the time, Infused was the BIS armor trait, which is why it gives the infused option for gold.)

    The leaderboard as suggested would indeed make people more likely to do dungeons, getting more rewards for something they were already doing. Its just that I don't think that the 4-man dungeons are difficult enough for a leaderboard.

    Currently:
    VetDSA is a 10 round arena with waves of enemies.
    Vet Maelstrom Arena is a 9 round solo arena with waves of enemies.
    Veteran Trials are 12-man group efforts against bosses with tons of health, requiring high skills from tanks, healers, and DPS.

    Veteran dungeons, even hardmode dungeons, simply aren't in the same difficulty category in terms of sustained effort and cooperation needed.

    So what I suspect the difference between us is that you are looking for a way to make dungeons fun and interesting and see adding a leaderboard as a means to do that. Which, it probably would, so its not a bad suggestion. I'm looking at it from the perspective of "Does this content need or deserve a leaderboard?" where 4-man veteran dungeons are not really in the same category as the other end-game content that does have a leaderboard.

    A far simpler solution would be to make final bosses completed on veteran hardmode dungeons have a chance to drop gold items.

    Why does it have to be difficult as hell to make leaderboards worth it ? It would be a possibility for everyonbe to get a weekly reward, not only good players, but even for them it would be worth only for getting gold jewellery. So basically it´s a win win situation. And actually it would be harder to get a good score in these easy dungeons and a spot on the leaderboards as many people can complete it and get decent scores. So there is way more competition than on vHoF weekly etc.

    And actually as i said it would not replace the hard leaderboards it would be a bonus, on top, not competing with the hard leaderboards which are there anyways. So i dont see a problem in not being hard.
