Would you prefer First person or Third person view when playing MMO?

I don't even like first person single player. if I do play first person games its despite them being in first person, because everything else is more appealing than the view I find extremely uncomfortable.

first person is a big part of why I'm not playing destiny.

Third person view

First person makes me nauseous, bad motion sickness. Used to get barfy after playing Doom and Hexxen back in the day. Blergh. SO glad I can zoom out.

I prefer the hips, they sway pretty nicely in the walking animation. Besides the character mesh ZOS uses doesn't do the Breasts much justice anyway.

Third person view

The first person is done terribly in ESO. Terrible FOV, tons of camera sway. I don't commonly have motion sickness, but ESO's first person is AWFUL.

And considering ESO is my first MMO I guess I prefer third person.

The "other" option is missing.

Doesn't really make sense to force view mode onto players. For some players or some situations you want immersion (first person), mostly though you need third person since that gives you a much much better overview of your surroundings.

Lots of people not reading the OP

Usually for MMOs I'd choose third person. For a TES MMO I'd WANT to play first person, and if they ever make an online TES game again I hope they consider it from the start (but still provide third as an option, like TES games do). But for ESO, this game was specifically designed for third person, with first person shoe-horned in after the game's reveal was met with intense backlash and disapproval, and the lead game designers finally began to consider that maybe, just maybe, players would actually like to play an online TES game with ESO, and not play DAOC2. The muppets.

I can't praise the team enough for One Tamriel though. Better late than never. But the core design principles being based around third person (like floor AOE markers) mean first person will sadly never be viable in this game

This is true. ESO's first person is downright disgraceful. Worst I've ever seen

Have no idea why they couldn't implement a similar first person mode to the single player ES games, that first person mode was fine.

If everybody was first person, the game would be a lot more interesting.

If you can choose, then obviously first person puts you at a disadvantage, but still makes the super easy stuff more fun, like delves and quests

If I HAD to choose I would choose third. But, BUT I prefer to use first person while out and about in the open exploring, and third while in dungeons/grouping/pvp.

1st person is awesome in general but it exectures poorly... especially in combat when you have to pay attention and actually watch out for effects or surroundings.

That said, 1st person = immersion , 3rd person = convenience.

Third person view

Third, and I "zoom out" quite a lot as well. I only use first person view when I need to take a closer lock at something, or when something is obscuring my view.

I couldn't play in first person view, I sort of need to see what my guy is doing - when buffs run out etc.. Animation canceling, dodging properly (and what not ) wouldn't work for me. I also have a way better view of what's going on around me.

Third person view

People have enough trouble with situational awareness in 3rd person, last thing any mmo game needs is 1st person only. That said, I love being able to toggle between the two particularly in this game. Its a blast to get in 1st person for questing or dueling. Makes it quite intense.

Moving around in first person on this game makes me feel sick. I pretty much only use it to look at someone's character that I think looks cool.

During group content, large raids, and PvP third person is pretty much required because of the better general awareness given by more of the surrounding area being in view. When just goofing around in my house or exploring I like first person.

I prefer hard mode (first person), but the game is soooooo much easier in easy mode (indeed so much easier it's hard to take people seriously when they say they prefer third person for any reason other than it's so much easier!).

Particularly for a melee character, there's just so much you can't see if you are up close and personal, you miss the tells, the red zones... and of course attacks from behind.

But there's much more potential for fun in first person...

"I killed all those welva, why is my health still going down?"

Looks all around, up and down...

"Oh, mud crab snapping at my ankles".

What if full length mirrors are available as 1st person, and you could turn your head like you would in real life, to check out the other side of your character.
