What is the deal? I asked in zone chat in the Gold Coast what to do with transmute crystals since I don't have Clockwork city and suddenly someone is like 'first off how are you here?' The gold coast has nothing to do with Clockwork City.
Then after me and someone else explain to them that DLCs can be bought for good, I get ganged up on for not being a ESO + member. I knew better than to say I couldn't afford it, so I just told them I didn't want to, which is still the truth. But they just wouldn't shut up about the bonuses of ESO+, I told them numerous times I am not interested, I knew what ESO+ is, I KNOW what it gives, but more and more ESO+ fanboys showed up and harassed me. Is this normal or was I just unlucky?
In the end I found it funny they're trying so hard, but it's also a little annoying, they acted like I was playing the game wrong which is something that really pisses me off. It's my copy of the game, I bought it, I'll do what I want with it.

Nobody really likes what they view as a freeloader. A sub-style player is going to lean towards viewing you, with no sub and having not bought the dlc, as a freeloader. I do myself as well, but Im not of the type to go out of my way to give you a ton of *** on it.
Best fix: Thicker skin. Don't matter what people say unless you let it bother you.

How is someone who PAYED for a game to play it a freeloader even if he didn't pay for everything or for extra's and never subs? For as far as i know ESO is always payed to get in.
I don't see why people would dislike such a person. It doesn't change other peoples game at all, nor what they got/get/payed. Well provided that non-extra-paying person doesn't demand stuff for free others had to pay for. Or complain that not paying might mean (a lot) more work to reach the same goal then who payed if the game gives the option. The OP in that post didn't ask for a handout. He didn't demand his crystals to be able to be used without the DLC.
A logical anwer for me would have been: save those crystals, they are only usefull if you buy/rent the CWC dlc. Save them just in case you get a transmute station access some day in the future, ignore them the rest of the time..... period
For me a freeloader is a player who didn't pay for the game at all but still demands loads of others/the developers as if he spend tons, or like his playtime entitles him to it). A person who doesn't pay for a game at all, but accepts that the game/developers won't cater to him and doesn't complain about it is a free player, not a negative freeloader, just a person using the option the game/developers gave him.

It really sucks they wouldn't just let it go when you stated you know what ESO+ gives and you aren't interested. It further sucks that the bullying has continued a little bit in this thread.
Personally, I love my ESO+ for many of the reasons already stated. I also remember when the perks people most often cite (craftbag, double bank space) weren't part of it, and we all got along fine then too.
It is possible to play and thrive without ESO+, and you have every right to continue to enjoy doing just that. You (or someone that cares about you) paid for the base game, and ESO+ is just a bunch of optional perks to guarantee solid monthly income to the company. They are good perks, but they are still optional.
Provided that you aren't harassing other players, you deserve to play how you like in peace, and I hope you continue to do so.
I'm sorry you have been treated this way.

This happens in nearly every modern mmo. The whales assert themselves with the backing of the developers. Its pretty logical, someone is paying money for your product you support that person.
If you got 1-3 years out of ESO you did really well by most game standards. ITs declined a lot in terms of community, its more petty now in game then ever. Ive watched zone chat arguments go on at length about dye colors and mount pricing. Woe unto you if you arent on board.
ESO has a lot of really good elements left. Get in the game NOW before the server performance really begins to affect the engine to the point of really poor stability. Soon, we'll have something new to extract a few years of gaming out of. Its really to bad BDO sucked, a lot of us thought that was going to be the next AAA mmo to move to.

Just people being pushy.
Ignore them and play the game the way you want.
