The ESO+ cult

OP you play the game the way you like. Whether or not you are ESO+ is your affair, and nobody else's.

But you would have saved yourself a lot of hassle if you hadn't reacted, and kept reacting, to Zone Chat.

In the end I found it funny they're trying so hard, but it's also a little annoying, they acted like I was playing the game wrong which is something that really pisses me off. It's my copy of the game, I bought it, I'll do what I want with it.

This happens in nearly every modern mmo. The whales assert themselves with the backing of the developers. Its pretty logical, someone is paying money for your product you support that person.

If you got 1-3 years out of ESO you did really well by most game standards. ITs declined a lot in terms of community, its more petty now in game then ever. Ive watched zone chat arguments go on at length about dye colors and mount pricing. Woe unto you if you arent on board.

ESO has a lot of really good elements left. Get in the game NOW before the server performance really begins to affect the engine to the point of really poor stability. Soon, we'll have something new to extract a few years of gaming out of. Its really to bad BDO sucked, a lot of us thought that was going to be the next AAA mmo to move to.

It really sucks they wouldn't just let it go when you stated you know what ESO+ gives and you aren't interested. It further sucks that the bullying has continued a little bit in this thread.

Personally, I love my ESO+ for many of the reasons already stated. I also remember when the perks people most often cite (craftbag, double bank space) weren't part of it, and we all got along fine then too.

It is possible to play and thrive without ESO+, and you have every right to continue to enjoy doing just that. You (or someone that cares about you) paid for the base game, and ESO+ is just a bunch of optional perks to guarantee solid monthly income to the company. They are good perks, but they are still optional.

Provided that you aren't harassing other players, you deserve to play how you like in peace, and I hope you continue to do so.

I'm sorry you have been treated this way.

Nobody really likes what they view as a freeloader. A sub-style player is going to lean towards viewing you, with no sub and having not bought the dlc, as a freeloader. I do myself as well, but Im not of the type to go out of my way to give you a ton of *** on it.

Best fix: Thicker skin. Don't matter what people say unless you let it bother you.

How is someone who PAYED for a game to play it a freeloader even if he didn't pay for everything or for extra's and never subs? For as far as i know ESO is always payed to get in.

I don't see why people would dislike such a person. It doesn't change other peoples game at all, nor what they got/get/payed. Well provided that non-extra-paying person doesn't demand stuff for free others had to pay for. Or complain that not paying might mean (a lot) more work to reach the same goal then who payed if the game gives the option. The OP in that post didn't ask for a handout. He didn't demand his crystals to be able to be used without the DLC.
A logical anwer for me would have been: save those crystals, they are only usefull if you buy/rent the CWC dlc. Save them just in case you get a transmute station access some day in the future, ignore them the rest of the time..... period

For me a freeloader is a player who didn't pay for the game at all but still demands loads of others/the developers as if he spend tons, or like his playtime entitles him to it). A person who doesn't pay for a game at all, but accepts that the game/developers won't cater to him and doesn't complain about it is a free player, not a negative freeloader, just a person using the option the game/developers gave him.

Honestly don't care and wouldn't give the op grief over it. I craft for my guilds; if you give me the mats for cp160 gear I'll craft you sets from the dlc, no problem. I've been subbed since early access. Used the crowns from the sub, plus bought more to buy the stuff I wanted, including the dlc so just in case I ever dropped my sub for whatever reason, I'd still have access. I guess some people though do view players who only have the base game but want the content from the dlc/chapter they don't have access to be "freeloading". Yes, you bought the base game; you supported it at least to that extent. Wanting content from dlc/chapters you haven't bought, maybe not so much support.

For people who don't have the dlc, chances are good, if you have a good guild, that you'd have access to a transmutation table/station/whatever soon. I know I've donated a few writs to my gms towards getting one.

Yeah some nice folks here and in-game told me the best thing to do with my crystals and geodes, which is fine. I might buy clockwork city someday, maybe once crowns go on sale, but I just don't believe in renting, if I'm gonna spend money I want what I'm buying to be forever, so I pick forever.

To those calling me a freeloader, the only DLC I don't own is Clockwork City, I even own Morrowind, preordered the normal version when it was open to preordering. That's far from freeloading, just because I don't spend $15 a month

It was just a curious question on what to do with them until then, I did not expect for there to be a way to do so without Clockwork and was more aiming for a option to give to other people, but instead we have more than that. Am I happy? Of course, but I was not expecting or demanding.

As I said, I bought every other DLC there is, I was not asking for a way to get DLC stuff without owning the DLC, I never even said I wasn't going to buy the DLC.

Need I remind you I was in the Gold Coast, you know, a DLC zone?

I never go out of my way to bother people, and frankly I don't have a single thing against ESO+ people, as long as they don't treat me like crap just for existing. People like that? Yeah I do have something against them, but still not going to go out of my way to bother them.

TBH I am not 100% sure why the question had to shift to ESO+ anyway but I'm just glad some people are nice enough to answer it without ESI+ digs.

Yeah I have seen worse, but am usually a observer as I collect stuff. I have seen a lot of Morrowind correction arguments too in Morrowind zones, the DLC and otherwise.

I've been playing since December 2016, I got it for Christmas, so in a month and a half roughly it'll be a year and I don't see myself quitting anytime soon. I will probably buy Clockwork City, once crowns go on sale. This game has a lot of my money though, maybe not as much as some but I know it's over $100, I've bought stuff, I merely prefer to perma buy then rent is all

Personally I think it's better to sub and reap the benefits of the docs. Then at the end of your 6 months you don't want to pay anything, you've got 9k crowns to buy the dlc you want to keep playing, in addition to a potentially packed craft bag that you can still pull from. Not to mention if you played regularly over the course of 6 months you'd have earned 10% more gold, xp, and inspiration. Maybe you grinded some characters to 50, grinded to CP cap, or grinded some crafts to 50. All of that was done in a shorter time, and you could end that 6 months with enough crowns to buy several dlcs. That's how I view it, but I also like buying stuff from the crown store so I always spend it before the 6 months are up xD

Many people are coming from a place where subscriptions were required for MMORPGs. Cash Shops in f2p replaced that model in some capacity. No sub (ESO+) and not buying DLC is the definition of freeloader in MMORPGs.

Why do people dislike anyone else? Opinion? Frustration? Any number of things. In the case of games, like ESO, no-sub + not buying DLC means that person isnt funding servers and new content. Thats really enough in most cases. People that play this game want it to succeed and put out more content.

What is logical and what happens on the internet rarely go hand in hand.

This. You have to know when to just ignore and move on. There are quite a few people that like to troll, and the more you keep interacting with them, the more it seems they're really getting to you, the more they'll push buttons. It's a game. It's easy to just move along...
