I always just shadow cloaked my way through Craglorn, solo, to grab most of the skyshards. Of course now it's a LOT easier to do so, but before the complete overhaul, it was still doable....as long as you had plenty of soul gems.

Member when ZOS announced bans against bots.
Today, we made our first major strike against those who choose to cheat in ESO, permanently banning thousands. This is only the beginning of our ongoing efforts to keep the game free from botters, speed hackers, and gold spammers. We want to thank everyone who has sent in-game reports about these individuals in ESO—your reports helped us identify many of the accounts we banned today. Please continue to report any botters, gold spammers, and speed hackers you see in-game, and we’ll continue our efforts to keep them out of Tamriel.

I'd love to know the exact date that ZOS just gave up trying to stop cheaters. They never made THAT announcement, but it obviously happened.

do you remember when you could easily kill any world boss just by yourself? farming was a lot easier. now they require 2 or more people...usually more than 2....

I can manage most World Bosses on my MagSorc by just remembering to keep my Power Surge and Hardened Ward up. Then just plop my DoTs and Heavy Attack away with a Shock Staff. It really has nailed in the fact that Sorcs are "Easy Mode". Tried soloing the Atronach/Strangler pair in the March recently on my StamBlade and I just could not do it no matter what, until I realized, "what if I separated them?". So I kited the Atronach around a corner and suddenly I was soloing the thing fairly easily, however it was still difficult managing my Stamina and Healing from the hard hits.

Point is I agree, World Bosses are horrid now on your own....unless you're a Sorc.

I member when my Templar was a baby lvl 16. Word at the wayshire was there was mats that sold well in the higher zones and you could ONLY get them in higher zones. SO I started off to Rawl'kha - had to hitch a ride (you know in zone chat sticking out my virtual thumb), being told by said ride to NOT leave the town that it was dangerous for such a low level.
Buying potions, food and soul gems. Setting out - and getting killed A LOT.
BUT finding my first ever Master chest (only had 5 lock picks, had to ask in zone for some and got 10 sent to me - instead of 2k of them). I was so excited and giddy, my first days haul was not great and I think I made a 50 gold profit for my troubles. It was glorious and exciting.
Attempted Craglorn a few weeks after that - it was sad and funny at the same time. I learned a lot at that time - which ways to go where is was sudo safe and that the higher lvl players were really concerned I was lost, but sometimes taking me along like a younger sibling. I think that's one of the reasons all these years i'm STILL finding stuff I've never seen before. GOOD TIMES GOOOOOOD TIMES

And that was thing. It was all based on enjoyment. And oddly enough, I enjoyed myself way more back then. Even in PvP with invisible cold fire damage. It was still fun. Lol. Things were so entertaining back then. Even in their shortcomings. And people had fun as a whole.

In fact, the game wasn’t even that laggy come to think of it. You used to could have 300v300 zerg wars all over the place in places like Azura’s Star, and experience little to no lag. The game would run just as fluidly as if you were apart of a 5v5 conflict. The performance was that sharp. I kid you not.

I miss Doshia and Gutsripper being hard barriers to progress. "Puppy killer!" was an achievement. I miss going to slightly higher level zones to grind and having it be hard. Now I slap down some dots as I run and everything dies. World bosses were hard but fair at your level.

While I liked the "single-player MMO" of the empty VR zones, I sure don't miss how long it took to grind VR 6-10 and the limited zone choices. "Today I can grind Alik'r or Bangkorai, or go die in Craglorn some more. Choices."

One Tamriel balanced the game far too easy; I'm sure they have data showing that's how poor average players are, but it would massively improve the game if they made everything past the starting islands about twice as hard as it is currently, bump up the health & resistance on every mob, throw in an elite mob and some mechanics on every mob group, made junk loot less common.

I will never forget the day I received this email... I was so damn happy, that I literally screamed out in appreciation and joy. And I truly felt special in ZOS’ eyes. I felt like I actually meant something to a Gaming company, besides being just another whale to take money from. I mean, I felt special from previous loyalty rewards and all that. The monkey and all that jazz. But being given that type of a mount... It touched me emotionally, as pathetic as that sounds. And it made me want to spread the word to as many of my friends as possible that ESO was a game that truly cared about its players.

@Aquanova Do you remember when obtaining emperor was actually something special? And there wasn’t alliances making deals, and trading emperor? Back when it didn’t matter how much gold you had, or what guild you were cliqued up with. Unless you put in the work, you were never touching emperor status. And back then, the folks who earned emperor were the truth. If you encountered a Former Emperor on the battle field, you had best had been prepared or you were going to get rocked. Lol. Nowadays...? The emperors who run Vicec and Scourge prior to Morrowind and all that jazz are bums. Stoners and scrubs who copied YouTube builds, and got boosted to their position. Having their buddies run scrolls to them from the opposite alliance and all that corny nonsense.

And although relatively new, do you remember when having the Ophidian Overlord and Stormproof title actually meant something? Back when you could be roaming through Rawlkha, Elden Root, or Mournhold with that title and people swarmed around. And if you were a Flawless Conqueror? Pfffft. Forget about it. You shut it down where you were. You were the person to clique up with.

Craglorn was a scary place. I also remember when we were struggling so much with the crab boss near Davon's Watch :D
My boyfriend found the Imperial Motif not long after we started playing, he learned it, neither of us knew how unbelievably expensive it was back then... We couldn't have imagined that amount of gold at that time haha

And certain guilds even started trying to capitalize off of it. They’d charge a fee to let you farm mats in there, and if you called yourself refusing to pay up, they’d spam AoE skills were you were to crash your game. And this could continue over and over again, until you paid the fee to be left alone (which I think was 5k or 10k).

I think in general that they’ve done a lot of work to balance this game. But what I really do miss is be general challenge to pve overland content. When I walked into my first public dungeon, back when I had no idea what I was doing, I got completely decimated by the first few monsters. It was awesome. The sense that there were places beyond my ability, that required practice and teamwork, that were mysterious and unattainable, it made the game fun. Now the entire pve map exists only as a grind. Slap on a few random sets and you can blast through pve with your eyes closed. It’s sad really. My brother and I had fun because we died on bosses and had to think about how we were going to go about it. Now? Spam a bunch of skills and move on.

Yup i sure do. It's really sad that this game has taken such a different path than what it seemed to be on. I always excepted the changes that ZOS implemented in the past because they made sense and seemed to follow some ideal that the developers had, but now i can't figure it out and neither can anyone I play/played with. Artificial difficulty? Laziness? Bias? I can't decide and am tired of trying to figure it out.

The "Balance" these developers are trying to achieve will never happen unless they give every class a spamable, execute, mobility, heal, gap closer and CC that all do the same amount of damage, cost the same and have the same duration as each other. It's a farce! It will never be achieved.

I've played this game from PC launch and was addicted to it as much as I could be, but I'm worn out from all these changes patch after patch with no conclusion to it in sight.

Lmao. It used to go down in that tiny little farm. There would even be people who sold lightning and restoration staffs there to assist with farming. Usually the same guilds who were there taxing people. There would be 3 or 4 people standing outside the barn selling said staffs for like 250g to farm with (if you didn’t bring your own). It was like the ESO version of the bando/trap. :D

I made most of my gold farming Nirncrux in Craglorn on a Dragonknight back before One Tamriel. I also farmed chests and would routinely swing by a couple dozen chest locations. I never engaged hostiles in the area and only died twice, once when I got careless and once just to see how tough those wasps actually were. (P.S. - no special stealth abilities were used)
