Do You Remember...?

Do you remember the times of old...?

Do you remember when poison resist and flame resist glyphs were applied on jewelry, if you were a vampire or werewolf? Do you remember when the world bosses would snap you up, if you weren’t at a certain level (Stonefalls saint and Greenshade lightning atronach come to mind)? Do you remember when you wouldn’t dare venture alone in Craglorn, out of fear of the mages and wasps? Even though you could’ve been 2 or 3 veteran ranks stronger than them? Do you remember Martial Knowledge was the set to be farmed, as well as Nirncrux being the go-to trait for damn near everything...? Or even better. When Daedric and Ancient Elf motifs were 80k to 100k each. And selling Daedra Hearts was as profitable as selling Dreugh Wax and all that jazz.

Craglorn was never so bad that a single player could not run all around there without drawing aggro.

In good mmorpgs you can't run around without worries. You'd end up in the nearest town if you'd pull more than 2 strong monsters.

Correct. And regarding Craglorn, it was definitely true there for a very long while. Those wasps and mages were a trip. The mages more so. If you encountered the groups of mages (they often looked like the final boss of AA), there was a good chance that you’d get packed up and wiped with the quickness. This is of course assuming that you went venturing about solo. And even then, I recall hearing stories of people get crushed in 2-Man groups to those mages.

That's a matter of opinion, actually. I find that is not a hard and fast rule.

Omg those wasps I really miss that level of... difficulty. Wasps absolute *** irl, and were absolute *** in-game. I miss farming Daedric motifs and selling for 130k+. I miss when the good ol' days where you could literally make anything work.. Damn this game has changed so much. I blame One-Tamriel battle scaling. Stupid power-creep.

Member White-Gold Tower on release? Damn that stupid healing aoe would make things invincible.

@Valkyn_Eltrys Do you remember when zergs in the sewers would avoid the banner bosses that roamed about, unless they were 24-man groups or more? The banner bosses cleaned up shop in the sewers with the quickness, and the group leaders would be so angry if someone in the group aggro’d them. Lol.

For the most part, yes. Except WBs were always easy from the first few months. Did a great many solo and Dolmens as well.
    Really, idk

Ah, yes... Back when damn near everyone was exploiting, and no 1 really judged you for it. Why? Because everyone was profiting/winning from it... Except of course folks who had to rush to clean their Cadwells to unlock the DC side of things. Lol.

It’s funny you bring that up, as I’m curious if that’s why to this day certain people have so many millions of gold and stacks of Dreugh Wax laying about. On PS4-NA, stacks of wax were selling for 5k at 1 point. No exaggeration. It really got that low. Right in Grahtwood, Elden Root you could pick-up a stack for that. And tons upon tons of Elegant Lining for dirt cheap. I’m talking 500g the cheapest per stack. It was bananas when everyone finally found out about it. Clothing upgrades held truly no value at all at the time damn near. And it was an amazing time to a light armor or medium armor wearer. Because you could just gold out your gear for peanuts.

As for the lag side of things... Oh man. Lol. You used to couldn’t even pass by the door of that damn farm without blue screening. It used to be that jam packed. And certain guilds even started trying to capitalize off of it. They’d charge a fee to let you farm mats in there, and if you called yourself refusing to pay up, they’d spam AoE skills were you were to crash your game. And this could continue over and over again, until you paid the fee to be left alone (which I think was 5k or 10k).

In regards to overland/story line stuff...

Just did main story Molag Bal again earlier tonight... I remember a time he did damage to you. Now that quest is just for aesthetics.

Doshia, and all Harvesters for that matter, used to require effort.

Storm Atronarch's basic attack would do considerable damage if you weren't blocking on time. You were nearly one-shot if you didn't interrupt them.

    Titans could hurt you.

Mannimarco was a fight you'd have to put effort into. I remember taking time to craft all new current gear and food for my characters before going into Sancre Tor. Now he's a push over.

    VR anything mudcrabs...

I remember when stuff could kill you. Now it really is way too easy. Sorry to say I was all for the VR nerfs.. adjusting at least. Such as VR NPC healers that could bring NPCs back up to full health in a second... that was ridiculous.

There are only two fights that cause me concern now. One of the bosses in the Dark Brotherhood quest line (can't remember her name...) and third phase of the fight in Sai Sahan's academy/school place (quest before Sancre Tor). When three of those vet undead are summoned. If they double or triple team you it can get rough.

Maybe one could level a new character wearing only white or green gear with no set bonuses. No food. Don't spend any CP's either. Maybe that could be a challenge.

Awwww damn. You done mentioned Doshia. Lmao. Flashbacks incoming hot, as well as numerous triggered moments.

yes, everyone who whines should be forced onto a retro server where you the cap is VR6.

Remember that happy crap? Remember before craglorn when you got to VR3 (maybe 4) if you did cadwells? Which was a *** to do then as well, what did you have 3K health on tank?

But then you got to grind, because if you didnt get to VR6 and get your gear crafted you werent getting into end game groups.

PvP? you think youre being faced rolled now nub? Try going out there with less then VR6 gear on, and even then we had real pvp raiding guilds, they were the NORM. Not like the pug fests you have now it was a blood bath.

Ya I remember, as an added bonus all these people that WHINE about sorcs should, on the retro server have to 1v1 them. You remember that right? When streak had no penalty?

Wholly smokes, this game is so easy now in compare, everything was a pain in the ass for a year. Level alts? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! Who the *** had time for that?

No xp bonus, and what was it 6-9 months to get your undaunted? There were no dailies back then. Candy asses.

I still to this day clearly remember Meteor’ing and 1-shotting myself in Haderus. Lmao. Was all cocky pushing EP back to their gate with my fellow AD brothers and sisters, when I called myself casting Meteor on a fleeing DK. Was so cocky, I didn’t even bother having a shield up. Dude it reflects it back, and I literally 1-shot myself. Instant obliteration. Lmao. I was laughed at by this guild I was in for like a month straight for that. Good times. :p

Member when ZOS announced bans against bots.
Today, we made our first major strike against those who choose to cheat in ESO, permanently banning thousands. This is only the beginning of our ongoing efforts to keep the game free from botters, speed hackers, and gold spammers. We want to thank everyone who has sent in-game reports about these individuals in ESO—your reports helped us identify many of the accounts we banned today. Please continue to report any botters, gold spammers, and speed hackers you see in-game, and we’ll continue our efforts to keep them out of Tamriel.
