I find that I get bored with games like this if I do not have any realistic goals. To keep me engaged in ESO, I have set certain reasonable and attainable goals

    Cool!

Your goals are very different from mine.

1-have a justification for why each of my characters has "that particular" pet, and "that particular" mount. I have gotten my hands on many of both that aren't being used because it's not right, the haven't earned/met/RP'ed the right reason.

as an example, my Dunmer DK for years (actually literally) wanted to have a "flamey horse" just like one of my husband's characters (his Older Altmer Akiro Caemaire has the "flamey horse" which he describes as a Daedric entity that will ride off cliffs [was a mouse issue], not turn and ride right into strange things [was a lag issue] and generally warp the letter of their agreement left right and center).

Anyway, couldn't come up with a reason - till I was in a delve in Rivenspire and got the "Free Fadeel" quest. That's IT! His horse is the newly freed and super duper Fadeel who had been masquerading as a "normal" horse all along!

Still haven't found the "justification" for using the "mind shriven" horse for my "Maomer"/[dunmer]StormSorc.

2-Eventually have each character to have their own house (or one that they share with a particular other character) and have it appropriately decorated. So far only have this started on ... well sorta 1.5 characters. Broken Branch Toothmaul (my "goblin") has a pretty good/weird start on redecorating "Humblemud" now known as "the Fortress of Goblin Awesomeness" (name slightly subject to change since I can't always remember exactly what I said last time). The other 20-some characters...still in the works (and accumulating piles of stuff in various dwellings).

3-level everybody up and gear them up. In process. I still have about 10 characters that are not yet lvl 50. Lots of various dropped sets crammed in bank/bags. Working on getting a complete set of most of the available sets (I don't do trials [much] and stink at PvP).
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

It's amazing how fresh a game feels when you come back to it after a break.

All I needed to do was play destiny 2 for a week and eso seemed like the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I think what we need is some event some excitement..
so for example on your map the Dark Anchors will go black which means there are bosses that are 4mill once when the boss/es are defeated they will re spawn in 1hr and on the map the Dark Anchor will be white.

Now if the Dark Anchors are not closed some type of destruction happens for example deshan Mournhold gets damaged and there is daedra everywhere and you need to finish some type of quest to stop it , while the city is damaged there is no npc they are dead or gone so no guild traders or anything like that.

Now you know how the quest changes in the morrowind with the meteor and this is just for you when doing the quest, same thing can happen in this case, so the city or city's are damaged until you finish the quest after that it changes where you see it getting repair, if you don't finish the quest that area will always be ruined and damaged for you.

So in another words you are placed in a instance with other players and until you finish the quests you will stay there when entering the city .

something like that would bring some nice excitement in pve and pvp ( yes the Dark Anchors will also effect pvp however in this case if the Dark Anchors are not closed the castles will be flooded with daedra and there will be some type of boss with good number of health that you need to defeat before taking the castle.
"By many i am seen as hero...as a savior of the Tamriel i will not stop until every Daedra every evil there is in Tamriel is vanquish by my hands..
However i do this for my own purpose to gain trust of mortals to worship me and to eliminate my competition i will not bend my knee to lead your army to serve you Molag Bal , i will simply just take it from you.."--- Forsaken Sin( Magica Sorc)

I eventually get burnout in every MMO i play and I am at that point now with ESO. The biggest factor for this is (at least on XBOX EU) cyrodiil is dieing. Even during prime time we are lucky to get 2 full bars for each faction. Cyrodiil is made for large scale pvp and big battles all over the map. The zone is to large and gets really boring when the player base dies out!

Zos really should make a Cyrodiil lite BG (24v24v24) that us players could queue into for a few hours of fun.

This is the by-product of all the balancing issues. Balance this, balance that, and finally you have 5x2 classes which are copies of one another...

I am almost there after a few months of playing again.

Reason is, when I log in on my limited time to do my daily 100k on my 4 characters, all I get grouped with are low level players in harder dungeons. Not spending 20^ minutes in a dungeon with horrible DDs. I just leave and switch to the next character and call it a day. If all 4 have bad luck which is normally the case, I log off and watch tv. Just about done with the game.

It was fun from 1-160cp after that though stuff either got too hard (not saying i cant do it but its nolonger fun to even bother) or its too hard to get 3 others competent enough to complete it its like whats the point in armor values on gear if everything one shots you outside heavy? right about now its just work i dont work 60 hours a week just to come home and work more on a game not paying my bills and just adding to my frustration. Elitist will hate me but crap meeds to be easier not harder tried 2 weeks straight to get vet horns dungeons for the dye cannot find a single cp 600+ that can hold his own against an add... after adozen wipes and everyone else rage quits im like bye eso. As mentioned above of monster hunter world is any good i may be done

Eso as it stands hasnt been truly fun since wrothgar and the devs should be ashamed for this mess its become combat is boring buolds are boring half the weapons are irrelevant in pve and the other half are almost as irrelevant in pvp

Half this games balance issues could be fixed if they'd put 2 seconds of effort in battles spirit to make it nerf over performing pve skills while in cyrodiil suddenly pve is ok and pvp is ok and we can all move the hell forward without infinite nerfs.

Yeah, housing was fairly well done and one of the most valuable systems they ever added to the game. This is coming from someone who has never made a single furnishing or even entered the base pleb-tier free apartment. I still recognize the value.

I couldn't disagree more. Games had far better housing and trade systems almost 20 years ago. Considering all the upgrades in technology since then, this housing system can be considered nothing less than a total failure and an abdication of duty on the part of every developer involved

No problem, just create a Nord Nb Vamp and divvy up your attribute points evenly. That way you'll spend 5x as long for each quest completion and after a few months of that futility and some carpal tunnel surgery you can go right back to one of your old characters and get that spark all over again.

I'm half kidding of course. When I first started ESO I never researched anything and my first character was/is a Nord Nb and I unknowingly evened out my attributes and then got the Vampire disease somewhere (I swear it was a delve in Cyrodiil) and spent a lot of time taking forever to beat anything. I would be fighting an enemy or two for a long time and would see other players take out large mobs in seconds and so I found this forum to figure that out and created a magsorc and wow, it was like a hot knife through butter.

I understand what you are saying though and so now and again I go back to the Nord (dw/2h) for the purpose of slowing things down. It's a nice change of pace. I do feel bad when someone wants to group up though 'cause I'm like the slow kid no one wants on their team in a pickup game.

Anyway, try something like that if you haven't done so yet, that way you'll feel good about returning with one of your other characters in taking revenge on those pesky skeevers. :D
If you are angry about anything in this game you are only punishing yourself.

Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

Witches Festival is not the best of the in-game holidays. It is very boring sort of grindy, and it is rather hidden.

Getting 100 Plunder Skulls takes about 500 minutes, give or take mistakes and quirky respawn timers, and a banker. It can be done standing in a single spot doing nothing more than 3% of the damage on any random delve boss. Cheating pairs well with this holiday, but I have yet to see any.

Honestly, the best part of Witches Festival last year was all of the skeletons running around the world.

Oh, and the Witchmother. Best holiday NPC in the game.
