My answer is no, but only because removing these things would not remove the bots.

If it were true that removing this would eliminate bots, then we can talk. At the end of the day though its zos' job to take care of the bots. Players want this game to be bot free and are happy to help zos weed them out. They need only to follow up on reports.

I don't think a lot of people know this, but I'm just gonna tell the story anyway. So, about 1.5 years ago ESO admins banned a TON of accounts for botting in conjunction with gold selling(RMT). Shortly after, ESO had a major DDoS(and possibly other security breaches) against several of its servers, the game was virtually unplayable for almost a week. Its believed that DDoS attack was retaliation for interfering with the RMT business.

Since that specific incident they've all but stopped banning bots and things are running out of control.

Considered this thread a useless thread, but this information is very enlightening. I believe you, but any official source in this regard?

Nope, you'll have to pry my craft bad from my characters cold, dead hands! :p;)

As for bots... I wouldn't mind some minigame to resource gathering... something with a random element, that characters "on automatic" would fail at... something that gives zero resources if you fail at it, since you mess it up, crush the flowers you were intending to pick for alchemy, chop the wood into too small pieces, whatever... but to balance, give a lot more resources to those who through player-intelligence and skill do well at the minigame...

I also wouldn't mind some random events while harvesting. Like... back in Age of Conan, there occasionally were encounters during harvesting a node, when some NPC bandit tried to rob the gatherer, or the gathering efforts disturbed some beastie... which would not be a good news for a bot set up for mindless gathering, right?

Honestly, the only reason I sub is the craftbag and doubled bank space. I probably would never craft again if they got rid of the bag.

Five hours of playing and my maxed bank and maxed bag space are pretty much full of loot. And right now I like crafting (home and armor/weapons) more than I actually like playing, so I probably would lose interest in the game completely.

And trying to sell armor/weapon/rings reliably even with 5 guilds all with public stores has never ever happened at least for me. Seriously, purple 160's sitting in the bank for weeks at a time at only 100 gold for impenetrable or Divines is a waste of store space.
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

Im cp 650, have been playing the game for at least 2 years and have never once seen a bot unless you count gold sellers in zone chat or the random player trying to sell 450x dreugh wax for under market price. I feel like the only people complaining about bots are people who make money off of mats. As far as I'm concerned, paying 200g for a Columbine vs 500g is a win for me.

The people who bot make money off mats. They have much more resources and can still charge inflated prices cause it sells just as well. Why would they price Dreugh was for 2k when it still sells for MM price anyway? Is there a vast over production of tempers? Yes, and its sitting in someones inventory, not in the market and always in high demand. All those players who enjoy harvesting and selling to friends or guilds cheap struggle to find isolated spots to farm/

ZOS has to care for their game . They need to police their own product . BDO polices their game way better and I've already seen major ban waves of AFK botters and I just got their with a few friends . They set up really strict systems to break up gold selling and it's no more pay to win then ESO is right now . They seem to really care about that game . Final Fantasy also has more active GMs keeping that place fair . I tried it out and it wasn't my cup of moonsugar but a very active staff is maintaining quality there . After just exploring a few new games and replaying a few old , its dismal looking at the lack of care ZoS does against exploiters . Deplorable . The only thing that keeps me here at this point is my long love for the franchise so I will always stay bit good grief ZoS ... Put some effort into maintaining the integrity of the game . I've seen emulators with stricter policies .

ESO without craftbag? No way. Always wondered how the non-subscribers do.

Also, as others mentioned, unlike in Diablo 3 or other instanced-only games the bot problem in ESO could be fixed with very little effort. One part-time GM could do it alone. On both servers.

No craftbag would obviously be no sub from any, probably no play for me either, the inventory shuffle minigame was one of the prime reason for me to quit playing.

    One tamriel tripled the population.

Bots are not so much an problem, simpler solution is simply to have better logging and monitoring making it pretty easy to finding bots, have eso.exe search for popular bot programs running.
Perhaps have random roaming world bosses in popular bot areas.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

While I have not seen true bots since the 2014 launch (invisible ones, and the teleporting ones) I have seen a few multiboxers farming wildlife. I have stopped reporting them because even after a week or 2, they're still there. Not worth the time and hassle to report.

Also, if you take away the craftbag, subscriptions will plummet (I know I'd cancel my subscription). ZOS won't do that.

I played many MMOs, and although I'm not oblivious to the population of bots in ESO, it is nowhere near cataclismic proportions.

    I don't encounter them.
I don't see non stop sell spam in chat.
They don't impact my gameplay negatively.

I never though I would say this, but I don't care about bots, at least not in ESO.

Which I definitely could not say for other MMOs I played.
    They were the plague there.

None of that will do anything against bots.

In my opinion, what every game should do against bots: Check what they r offering and undercut them in Cashshop.
For eso, that would be offering gold and gold tempers.

Im aware the poor poor economy would die a horrible death and it would be evil evil pay-to-win.
Totally worth it imo to get rid of bots. Also, can remove those items from cs when bots r gone.

Honestly couldn't care less about bots, I barely see them anyway and they do nothing to lessen my enjoyment of the game. In fact cyrodiil used to run well until they did something to try and combat the bots years ago. I say let there be bots if it means we can have a smooth cyrodiil experience.

I usually just lurk here but this one begs an answer:

Would u sacrifice those to have your favorite restaurant cockroach-free?

After first bug war after launch we had ~1,5 years of dining without bugs or at least visible. Chef Z doesn't really care about taking actions right now. What could be done tho:
    1. Remove stomach - all u have to do now look at the food for endless droolage. I guess it's worth it for beef farmers. Still profitable for Chef Z.
    2. Remove all food - that made everything really bugfriendly environment by dropping crumbs and such. Bugs started appearing again after Chef Z. introduced food. Coincidence?
    3. Allow bug repellent into the restaurant, where bugs can't really handle, at least without certain investment in gear or time required for getting gas masks and such.

I am aware that some of these are far fetched but why should we, as a customer, sacrifice for Z's disinterest or failure to effectively address the bug/bot issue?

    Hell no.

All three? Hell no. Playing without a sub, and I'm using four characters to store all my junk as a result.

Removing level scaling? An argument could be made for that. I'm doing a completionist run on my main, going through all the quests, and I realize ... I don't care. Every quest is the same as the one that came before and the one that comes next. All the enemies have 35k'ish health, all the bosses have 131k'ish health, and there is no change. Ever. Everything is the same. I don't get stronger, I don't find weaker or stronger enemies. It just feels ... odd for an RPG that no matter how much I level, everything remains just as hard. Or easy, to be honest.

They make your own hard work seem pointless. Gathering mats n stuff just doesn't feel worth it anymore. At least not as much. Players who only sell to NPC merchants and thus have no interest in that may enjoy decreasing prices though.

I'm on ESO + and I think an unlimited crafting bag is a bad idea. Keep the crafting bag but put limits to quantities.

But anyway, it still wouldn't stop botters.

The only real way to get rid of them in the current state of the game is to have active GameMasters smashing them with the ban hammer as they see them.
