We should get together and compile a list of rarest traits for Researching in light of the changes everyone will be forced to at least dabble in crafting.

Anyone know what else?

Yes but statistically speaking some traits drop much less often than others. Thanks.

The Devs showed that the traits, at least for Dungeon loot, drop at a roughly 12.5% rate.

The problem is, the loot tables seem to know what traits you need, so they leave those out.

If your in a guild though, the trait you need on the item you want to research is just a polite request and a tip of some gold away.

And, if you want the Training Trait on anything, just spend some time on the 5 Starter areas where the Armor of the Trainee is set of choice. Although weapon drops are rarer than armor drops.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I know the quote I am posting below was specifically about undaunted chests, but I'm willing to bet if they keep drop rates equal for those chests then its the same on everything. Please note nirn can't count as it is not available on everything.
The drop rates are the same as on PTS and they are all equally weighted. Couple quick charts cause I know everyone loves them.

I have not wasted any time actually keeping track of stuff but it seems to me I get just as much desirable traits (divines, infused, inpen) as I do trash traits (training, prosperous/invig)

It's just always when you're looking for something specific you're more likely to take note of all the stuff you don't want coming in.

This is not taking nirnhoned into account because of the differences in how it is obtained.

Awesome! This is neat information about the undaunted chests do you have any recent statistics? From experience not all traits are equally available on guild stores so lets work together to get them all listed and available on all stores for inexpensive prices.

    Thanks.

No, all traits (with the exception of Nirnhoned) drop with equal probability.

Some items, however, have fixed traits. Named items or non-coffer quest rewards are often of a predetermined non-random trait. And there are a few other trait restrictions: the Trainee set drops only in Training (except for named items and quest rewards of this set), and Training does not drop from trials.

In general, people who claim uneven drop rates are looking at small sample sizes (e.g., Deltia's video showing him opening a couple of hundred keys--with the number of traits in the game, a few hundred is a small sample size) and/or suffering from observational bias--e.g., they're more likely to remember a string of frustrating Training items.

Neat thanks for that info! Do you have any info on what is least likely to be found in the guild stores regardless of supposed drop rates.

Only the traits someone would want to use needs to be researched. Training is probably not going to be a popular trait for convert a weapon to.

Sharpened, infused and precise for weapon and divines, inpen for PvE and PvP dps. Sturdy, for tanks with nirn/reinforced for shields.

Those will likely be the more popular traits. Quick to research.

Ask in guild, mail some materials and you get the gear.
You can buy them for 100-200 in any store you can filter on trait and armor / weapon type.

Nirnhoned is rare and expensive the traders at Belkart is well stocked as it is the crafting hub.
You can also buy stone and ask some to make gear, here you want an friendly guild not an shady trade guild.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Ohh so you only need the ONE trait learned in order to be able to transmute an item? So basically just look in guild stores for any trait?

Belkarth you say? Okay ill check there because the traits I look for go for a minimum of 500g if you can find them at all but I have just been lookin in Rawl'kha and the other guilds I am in.

Thank you all for the information.

Isn't a bow with training the first weapon they give you in the game? Ahh but they don't tell you anything about the research system so you got rid of it before finding out lol

Yes. Want infused on a weapon only need to know infused for that weapon. As of now. Of course it could change but as a master crafter on 4 characters and the fact the crystals are bound I think it is a good idea to not require someone to be a master crafter.

Many just do not want to deal with crafting so the low threashold is good. The only costly part is if they want nirnhoned weapons since that matt usually goes for about 10-13k. Might jump up a bit with this.

People are more likely to put things on a guild store if they think people will by them. This has very little to do with actual drop rates.
