What is the home server, 7day, 14day, etc stuff. I'm looking to participate but where to start?!

You can choose a Home server to be your main campaign, any Alliance Points earned in that campaign go towards your ranking on the campaign's leaderboards. This determines your end of campaign rewards as well as who will be crowned Emperor should your faction capture the central keeps.

A guest server is an alternate server you can choose, you won't be ranked on the leaderboards for that server, but you will have access to it. Any campaigns not selected you will not have access to on your own, but friends can group with you an port the whole group into any campaign.

They duration just signals how long a campaign runs before the leaderboards are reset and the rewards are sent out.

To enter Cyrodiil, right click on the CP 30 day campaign for your server (that's usually the most populated), and follow the queues to enter the campaign. You can opt for the 30 day non-CP campaign while you gain CP, but it's usually less populated.
