Greetings all,
I'm writing this as constrive critism to the ending of the main Clockwork City Storyline, but not in terms of the storyline itself, for that was nothing less than fantastic! However, the same can unfortunately not be said for the reward.
For anyone whom have yet to complete the storyline on the PTS, the reward is a consumable item by the name of [Sotha Sil's Codex of Infinite Possibility] which gives 150% increase to all experience gains for 2 hours of playtime. It is effectively a Grand-XP scroll.
Unfortunately, this item is nigh useless for anyone that is top level and have far exceeded the limit in Champion Ranks. Seht gave us a very clear choice: To save the life of our Ally, or gain more power to ourselves.
This option is very similar to the ending of the Mages Guild Questline, and I too, loved that one. It was a quest that had great weight and meaning behind it, a proper moral choice: Be the Hero who saves the damsel in distress, or abandon your heroic deeds in favor of powers that will make you even mightier. Which in essensece was a whole extra Skill Point you could spend as you saw fit.
I would really recommend to give a more fitting reward for this DLC storyline, similar to what you did with the Mages Guild Storyline. Perhaps another Skill-Point? Or maybe a few Attribute Points instead, something that -actually- increases your characters growth in power.
Certainly, its an argument to be made that an Increase in Experience gain = Powers, and while that is true for a low level, it does nothing for those of us whom sit in the top, those of us who have played the game for long and reached the current end of the progression.
That is my only complaint with the DLC thus far, the quests are fun, the storyline is interesting and exiciting. The only thing that lowered the epic feeling of this new DLC was its reward, a promise of powers from a god, which... well, turned out not to be power at all, but an xp scroll in disguise.
Thanks for reading, if you did.
