Yeah but... but purple is a better colour. :anguished:

Doesn't matter what color is this, green yellow or blue, I'm talking about selling for money recolored items that needs to be earned by achievements.
But it changes nothing. Your version is still showing how great you are and how the peasantry who can't earn it are peasants right?

Or is your achievement and hard worked unlock only valuable to you when no one else ever can have anything like it?

    It's the second.

    It's greed. Nothing more.

However, ZOS has a tendancy to outrageously price mounts and crap like that. I'm hoping the new skin price which is much more reasonable is a sign they're rethinking how much things are worth.

One of the laundry list of reasons why I hate the crown store. Lots of it is just lazy junk that's already in the game but sold with different colors / slight alterations and then put up with insane price tags.

And you know why ZOS does this? Because lots of people buy it. Protest with your wallet, not with forums posts. If this lazy crap didn't sell then ZOS wouldn't do this as often or at least not sell it that high.

If they want to sell skins in Crown Store - fine, but these skins need to look different that skins earnable by achievements.

They need to make unique looking skins for Crown Store with different textures, not lazy recolors of skins from achievements!
I don't wanna see vMoL skin in Crown Store in white color instead of black, or vHoF skin in silver version instead of gold.

Um. It is different. Nobody is going to look at the Ebony skin and think, "Oh, that guy must be a great player".

Sure, the texture is the same, but there is no mistaking this skin for Spiderkith. So why the outrage?

I have all 4 of the vet dungeon/trial skins, and I have absolutely zero issue with them selling this skin. I will not buy it because it's ugly and because I prefer the prestige of an achievement skin, but I see nothing wrong with them selling a skin like this since it is not thematically tied to difficult content and it's good that they are giving the average player access to this sort of cosmetic item.

I'm not happy with how they are selling Bloodforged, since that is thematically tied to difficult content. But Ebony is fine.

I'm curious does OP not realize that this skin is straight up from the Morrowind ebony mine quest? All the NPC's had this exact skin applied (and tbh yeah it's kinda ugly). It's not even remotely similar enough to be confused for Spiderkith at a glance. Hell, it even has a massively different read overall. Spiderkith is obviously meant to give the illusion of glow, while Ebony feels like the stone-based, dull sort of infection I'd expect it to be.

Anyway Spiderkith was just a Soul-Shriven recolor in the first place. Different color pallets make a massive difference.

Some sort of pay to win magic sword of doom? That would be the only kind of stuff I don't want to see in the crown store.

The problem is they barely rewarded us from playing the game to start with, and now they are rewarding us even less than that by walling things behind the crown store.

Perfect example is mounts. Same 3 houses available in-game since launch. Not 1 available through any type of achievement.

Skins? Not available until SotH, and they're basically putting a fork in that by now putting them in the crown store.

This is a long term complaint of mine. They game lacks any sort of reward for playing. There is basically story and grind gear. There is no goal to work towards. Sure I can farm keys and hope random loot drops for me. But that isn't a goal that keeps me coming back.

Ive long been in favor of a token system of some sort on different activities, to give people something to work towards that doesn't involve dumb luck. Something that I can track and say to myself, hey in 5 days I get that new pet or shiny hat.

They can't sell crap that's earned in game that's why it's getting less and less .. why make you grind weeks and months for something when they can slam it in the crowns store for 2k-5k crowns and rub there hands together watching the sales tick over from idiots!!

I agree that skins that possess different colors such as that should be unlockable by achievements, though skins such as the goblin should be bought in the crown store. Also, Zos should make the DC EP and AD hero costumes unlockable by gaining the achievements, Bero of the Daggerfall Covenant, Hero of the Ebonheart Pact, and Hero of the Aldmeri Dominion instead of the crown store. Same also goes with the warden costume. Furthermore, they should make a special costume for the achievement Tamriel Hero.

this is an b2p game, it needs the cash shop to function.

and tbh i saw worst in pay to play games where you spent $18- $30 on cash shop exclusive items.
$18 are reskins for in game items.

at least with ESO as long as you pay a sub you get equal value in crowns, least in the states.

imagine paying $15 sub, then $30 to get an exclusive mount.

oh and do not forget buying all the old holiday gear that were rewards for the previous holiday.

cash shops are needed in f2p/b2p games to earn money to keep the servers going.

I don't wanna see vMoL skin in Crown Store in white color instead of black, or vHoF skin in silver version instead of gold.
But it's so clearly different visually, the harder to earn one glows and stands out more.

They already did this with Imperial City items as well in that the Soul Shriven and Mind Shriven skins were clones, and I believe the two Scamp pets are just reskins. If you're so angry about reskins and devalued content why didn't you speak up then?

Is this about the devaluation of your achievement work (which hasn't happened for all the reasons given) or you're just mad about ZOS in general.

As for the new skin which was "removed to add to the Crown Store" maybe that's the case, but that update is still in development meaning they never removed anything, just changed their mind on the delivery method before launching the product.

I don't understand the backlash. The one for Crowns is not the same as the Achievement Unlock, you can still clearly tell the difference, not to mention this will just make it easy for people to take a look and go "Oh, you paid cash for that instead of running the Dungeon." I mean really, how does this give the finger to the people who unlocked the Achievement? They still technically have a unique Skin to show for it, even if the base textures are the same. No one's going to be walking around wearing an exact replica they bought. You guys will still have your trophies.

But really both of them are butt ugly. They make you look like an abomination out of a Wolfenstein game.

What are you reading because that statement is so far off point...

How would you like to run end game content to get cosmetics (which you paid for by purchasing the content), then have someone else be able to pay for a variant of the exact same thing?

For some people the rewards are the incentive for purchasing the DLCs, whereas offering those rewards as a standalone is like spitting on people who paid for more and had to put effort into archiving.

[EDIT]: Honestly I do play this game for fun and I do that by roleplaying with daedric related content and cosmetics, it's all perspective but I know I am not the only one who plays because something "sparks" interest in a certain theme for me when I see "new content" more so at times than others.
