If we take what Todd Howard said in 2016 confirming that VI isn't even being worked on and that there will be two other projects in the works that will be revealed before we see information on TES:VI, remember that was in 2016 and TES:VI could have hit development the next day, though that is speculation, it's not impossible and would have bought some time.

That puts 4 years between Morrowind and Oblivion and 5 years between Oblivion and Skyrim. It's also not completely unknown to Bethesda to pull a surprise or two out of their hatsSeeing this is currently a six year lapse since the release of Skyrim and the fact that Bethesda likes the shock and awe approach, could we see TES:VI this Christmas?

Bethesda Exec Pete Hines wrote:from June 15, 2017
Speaking to GameSpot today, Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines gave us more insight into why the game isn't coming soon, and why that might be in the best interest of the game and the people making it.
But first, he confirmed yet again that the game will happen ... someday. As of "The Elder Scrolls VI will eventually be made," Hines said. "It is multiple big releases down the plan for those folks [at Bethesda Game Studios]."
...
Hines told GameSpot today that Howard's team wanted to "work on some other stuff and do some other things" after releasing Fallout 4, which has surpassed Skyrim to become Bethesda's most successful game ever. He added that Bethesda Game Studios did not want to be known as a developer that only made Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.
"Quite honestly, they didn't want to be the developer that was just Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Fallout for the rest of their development careers," Hines said. "And you've got a lot of people in that studio who have been there for a really long time. They wanted to be able to self-determine things they worked on next, whether it was existing stuff whether it was new IP.
"And I think Todd and his team have earned the right, given the quality of this stuff, to be able to say, 'We know everybody really wants Elder Scrolls VI, but we as creative people want to be able to do stuff tat we're really passionate about.' And I think once you see how the next two titles come out and then how Elder Scrolls 6 ties into what those games are doing and about, I think it'll all make sense. But I think it's going to be a while before all those things happen."
I would make FO:O more of an shooter but in an MMO environment, you target is the FPS players wanting the deeper MMO gameplay. Personally I would not be very interested in FO:O, probably also the majority of the current ESO players. The FPS marked is 10x larger.

Windows 7 leaves extended support in Jan of 2020, and much like when Windows Vista support expired, GPU vendors dropped support for DX10. When Windows 7 leaves extended support, vendors (AMD and Nvidia) will EOL Direct X 11 as well (Meaning no new driver updates to optimize or fix any issues with DX 11) Microsoft will also stop updating it.
Comapring ESO to WOW is simply unfair because WOW is not on consoles. The majority of ESO playerbase is on consoles, WOW is a PC only game.
Around 2020 or so you will probably see the next gen of consoles and there is zero gurantees they will be backwards compatible....API's change, hardware and software progresses, things are made obsolete and new things take their place. porting is not always so simple.
I'd like to see ESO be ported to DirectX 12 or OpenGL Vulcan as that would pretty much guarantee the game would take very little to port next gen as thats what those consoles will most likely be using...no wya Microsoft leaves even a shred of the DX 11 api on the next gen of consoles...they want to get away from that completely, and Sony has embraced OpenGL Vulcan big time and literlaly wants to build their next console around it.
TES6 will be its own thing independently. They started working on it a long time ago, don't let Hines fool you. Its just not done yet, and they don't want to announce anything until its close to release. They are changing a lot on their game engine. They are in no rush, they know exactly what they want the game to be. It will come in time.
Honestly, I don't think you will see TES6 until the next console gen, I think that has been the plan all along.
So if ESO goes from 2014-2021 thats a pretty good run for a game that was in development from 2007 till 2013.
If you know the history of Bethesda, Pete Hines, etc...nothing lasts forever...at some point they will feel they have hit a wall creatively where they can no longer push and convey the world they want with the engine ESO has, when that day comes, they will move on the next chapter.
ESO won't go one forever like WOW has...thats not Bethesda/Zenimax media MO...pay attention to what Hines says "they go for quality NOT quantity". When they feel ESO is too dated technologically, they will move on to the next project just like the always do.
PS: I fully believe ZOS has been working on Fallout Online since at least late 2015....Bethesda Corporate(Zenimax Media) hired ZOS to be their MMO shop....its make 100% sense to make a Fallout Online considering Bethesda/Zenimax sued and fought Interplay in court to prevent them from making an Fallout MMO...you don't do that unless you have future plans for a Fallout MMO.
Fallout OInline will most likely replace ESO at some point in the future as I don't see them running two MMO's at the same time, and there is far too much money on the table for them not to make a MMO based in the Fallout Universe....i'd totally buy and play Fallout Online when it comes out....about 40 million other folks would too...
There is so many assumptions....unless the single player elder scrolls devs say straight up ES6 is coming at this specific date, at this time, and it's going to be called so and so then I am just going to assume it will never come.

Maybe for you, but me I just wait for ES6 to come out and then I uninstall ESO. The only reason why Bethesda don't work on ES6 is because they know it will eat ESO

Yeah that's my biggest concern re ES6; the rumours that it's about the lizards.
I remember when the racial passives changed (I've been away from game for a year, just Dling now, to come back) and people were talking about Argonian Templars, Though I main a High Elf Templar, I made an Argonian Templar alt called Looks-Like-Purse on my main account xD just because I'm nuts.
I would absolutely despise a whole game around the Argonians and the area. I erect the spine of Nope, to that.

The following memo was leaked in 2014. Many have tried to say its a fake, BUT:
Every single thing on that memo has came to pass and has come true.
Project Boston ended up being Fallout 4 (which takes place in Boston) Memo came out before FO4 was announced.
Fallout:Nuka World ended up being a DLC for Fallout 4 (was not known to exist at the time of this memo)
Then we have "Project Greenheart"
Project Greenheart IS TES6. Greenheart is a city in Valenwood.....since every other item on this leaked memo has come true, this means the memo is in fact real, and the signatures on the bottom was changed to a "pen name" which is not uncommon for folks who work somewhere to conceal their identity tend to do when they leak something.
Soi TES6 has been under production in some manner since at least 2014-2015 and given your looking at 4-5 years between releases... you should see TES6 right around 2019 to 2020 ballpark....considering the rest of the items on this memo ended up being released later on, Project Greenheart(TES6) will come as well.

there wont be an eso 6 Bethseda found their cow and have set to milking it. they have already stated this was the top of the franchise. quote from matt Frior " elderscrolls on line is ES series 6,7,8,9, etc "

Honestly, that's what I thought when they announced Skyrim. "Ugh, Nords. That's so friggin' boring. I live in a country where it snows half the year; why would I want my escapism to be that way, too!" Suffice to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the game.
That said, the rumors I've heard are Valenwood or Summerset, not Argonia. So we'll see what happens. All I know is that they won't announce it until it's about ready to launch, and then they'll go all out.
As to the original question: it won't kill ESO, but it will be a dry half-year or so. The biggest danger to ESO is the executive board deciding it's not making enough money in the meantime and pulling the plug on their end.

I don't know the context of this quote but I would hazard a guess to say Matt Firor =/= Bethesda. He's the director of ESO, so of course he's going to hype up ESO, possibly referring to how many places you can go or how long he expects the game to run. Meanwhile, Bethesda would make a lot of money from another single-player TES game, and they know it. There will be a TES6. They just won't announce it until they're ready.
