Will ESO "die" when Elder Scrolls 6 will come out?

TES is a single player game. ESO is a MMORPG. Two completely different genres. Go online and ask in zone chat how many people have ever played TES. Probably less than 10% across all platforms. In the beginning, the TES players complained about how different ESO was and left. A persons taste in games does overlap, but for the majority, people who play MMORPGS generally stick to MMORPGS because it's the player interaction they play for. I can't believe this question is even being asked.
FACT: Haters don't really hate you. In fact, they hate themselves, because you're a reflection of what they wish to be.

Maybe...he just wants to interact with other players?

    Lmao :D

Thanks so much for this thread, haven't laughed this hard in ages

Todd Howard said they don't want to be a vending machine endlessly grinding out the same titles, that they have big ideas for something new and I'm stoked to see what it is, maybe some big steampunk noir type thing?

Eso is still pumping money into the ZOS piggyback and shows no sign of slowing down, seriousely, I remember when stater islands only saw the odd crafting mat farmer, now they are swarming with baby charecters

There may be another elder scrolls game, but if I had to guess it would be in 7 to 10 years and it's deffinately not going to be single player, it's gonna be another mmo and I cannot frickin wait!!! Imagine an mmo that picks up on the empire vs thalmore situation post skyrim.

Oh my god, I don't even need a commercial, just take my money now o:)

Eh, the people who play Skyrim or other TES games for thousands of hours, are off doing that. They're not here playing ESO. They're also a small fraction of the Skyrim playerbase.

So, no. The next TES and ESO don't really have much to do with each other, besides being set in the same universe.

(Anyway, B2P & F2P MMOs, people come and go all the time. I played ESO for a few months last year, I played it for three months this year, I'll likely be back again at some point. Just because I - or you - take a few months off to play some other game or three, doesn't mean that the game is going to die.)
I'm one of them, 1145 hours in Skyrim and know its way more as steam miss lots of achievements I have.
Stopped playing Morrowind then I picked the mushrooms needed for the first mage guild quest in seyda neen and did not remember doing so.
Oblivion then it was so modded it was insane, minor issues as beggars carry thousands of gold or all lower class male pants get replaced by skirts is just fun.
But then I can skill an Argonian and get an rat skin as his name contains "rat" and the statue of me in Bruma rapes me

Removes all mods and submit an bug report in that plants don't change then harvested :) It came in an Fallout 3 DLC
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Omg no, it will not be a MMO. It would kill the whole franchise. And OF COURSE Bethesda wants to be money machine, you really think they don't care if they don't do a lot of money?

We know that Rockstar is actually working on GTA6. It's gonna give them a lot of money, but we also know that they support GTA Online everyday. Why they are doing it, If GTA6 will kill GTA Online? Maybe because it won't. A lot of players are playing GTA Online for friends, multiplayer and unique content which players cannot get in singleplayer game.

Now change GTA6 to TES6, GTA Online to TES Online, delete first sentence and you have my answer. Sorry for talking about other game, but If I'm correct and GTA6 will come out earlier than TES6, we will see If singleplayer game can kill MMO. This is stupid, ESO is different in thousands ways from Skyrim and I wouldn't spend ten hours everyday here If I want Skyrim experience.

No. Bethesda is using some nice marketing tactics, in my opinion.

They released ESO and upgraded it to the point of most complete ES RP game ever with a MMO flavour.
They upgraded Skyrim which is one of the most successful and beloved games of all time, earning 1,1$ billion dollars (developing cost was about 75$ million). And that was the last year's number. I cannot even say how much they earned now. After 6 years it's still massively played game, on Steam's Top seller 50 list AND when combined with Special Edition, Skyrim is in the TOP 15 most played games list as of TODAY!

They released ES: Legends, a card game, mobile friendly - which also has potential to be a great card game.
Now ESO: Morrowind, again a beloved ES theme.

So no, ES6 won't be released soon. The market is well fed with various ES series and flavours.

    I liked oblivion and Morrowind.

Skyrim's combat and skill system were to dumbed down, so I didn't like the game all that much.

I also don't enjoy the single player experience that much.

For those reasons, I will be sticking with ESO, and moving to other MMOs when the time comes.

To me they are two completely different games.
I dont like the first person shooter style combat of the original games so I will always play ESO for the MMO interface style of game.

Plus I would miss zone chat.

You'll see less of the people who play the game for the story/solo content, but I imagine most of the people that are here for the MMO itself, Elder Scrolls fan or not, will continue to play.

ESO will definitely take a hit when TES6 comes out, but once everyone's played it people will come back. ESO is a different type of game form the real TES games, so many people will switch to the other when they take a break from one. They'll loose a chunk of revenue from ESO for a couple of months, but TES6: Black Marsh will make up for it a hundred fold. :P

TES6 will need to be pretty amazing IMO. As bad as ESO can be with the problems it has, they better spice up TES6 more than Fallout 4.

I believe ES6 is too far in the future to make a call there. ESO is perfectly capable of collapsing on itself in the next, say, five years. Or maybe it won't, and will become wildly more popular than any other ES game ever made. Unless the various suits at Bethesda have been lying and ES6 comes out tomorrow, it has a lot of time to change between then and now, for better or for worse.

"Will ESO "die" when Elder Scrolls 6 will come out?"

No, because according to another thread ESO will be dead by Christmas.

    Why dead before Christmas?

Well, because less people played the game the month after the free access week than played it during the month that included the week of free access.

So there you have it, proof the game will be gone before Christmas. And not just any Christmas either, I think they mean Christmas 2017.

So if you are a completion freak ya better get on it, ya got a little over three months to finish.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

No it won't, bad decisions and abandonment kill games. ZoS/Bethesda won't kill their moneymaker MMO by making another game in the same franchise unless they want to or they seriously skrew up somehow.

Honestly, if it's going to die it's going to die long before that comes out.

It's more likely it'll die when something trumps it market wise, and Secret World is allready making a good stride toward that.

If es6 is as boring as fallout 4 they'll be back sooner than later...

Fo4 was boring as hell lack of unique enemies items boring craft and settlement thing... if es6 tries anything less than skyrim which i found also lacking in many areas

    I loved Fallout 4

now - if I could chug psychobuff and go to town on folks with an electrified chinese serrated sword...bye bye frags, claws of anguish, green dragon blood - hello rocket launchers and battle suits (talk about op gameplay)...

As i have said before, ESO life will depend solely on the technology route they decide to take.

Windows 7 leaves extended support in Jan of 2020, and much like when Windows Vista support expired, GPU vendors dropped support for DX10. When Windows 7 leaves extended support, vendors (AMD and Nvidia) will EOL Direct X 11 as well (Meaning no new driver updates to optimize or fix any issues with DX 11) Microsoft will also stop updating it.

Comapring ESO to WOW is simply unfair because WOW is not on consoles. The majority of ESO playerbase is on consoles, WOW is a PC only game.

Around 2020 or so you will probably see the next gen of consoles and there is zero gurantees they will be backwards compatible....API's change, hardware and software progresses, things are made obsolete and new things take their place. porting is not always so simple.

I'd like to see ESO be ported to DirectX 12 or OpenGL Vulcan as that would pretty much guarantee the game would take very little to port next gen as thats what those consoles will most likely be using...no wya Microsoft leaves even a shred of the DX 11 api on the next gen of consoles...they want to get away from that completely, and Sony has embraced OpenGL Vulcan big time and literlaly wants to build their next console around it.

TES6 will be its own thing independently. They started working on it a long time ago, don't let Hines fool you. Its just not done yet, and they don't want to announce anything until its close to release. They are changing a lot on their game engine. They are in no rush, they know exactly what they want the game to be. It will come in time.

Honestly, I don't think you will see TES6 until the next console gen, I think that has been the plan all along.

So if ESO goes from 2014-2021 thats a pretty good run for a game that was in development from 2007 till 2013.

If you know the history of Bethesda, Pete Hines, etc...nothing lasts forever...at some point they will feel they have hit a wall creatively where they can no longer push and convey the world they want with the engine ESO has, when that day comes, they will move on the next chapter.

ESO won't go one forever like WOW has...thats not Bethesda/Zenimax media MO...pay attention to what Hines says "they go for quality NOT quantity". When they feel ESO is too dated technologically, they will move on to the next project just like the always do.

PS: I fully believe ZOS has been working on Fallout Online since at least late 2015....Bethesda Corporate(Zenimax Media) hired ZOS to be their MMO shop....its make 100% sense to make a Fallout Online considering Bethesda/Zenimax sued and fought Interplay in court to prevent them from making an Fallout MMO...you don't do that unless you have future plans for a Fallout MMO.

Fallout OInline will most likely replace ESO at some point in the future as I don't see them running two MMO's at the same time, and there is far too much money on the table for them not to make a MMO based in the Fallout Universe....i'd totally buy and play Fallout Online when it comes out....about 40 million other folks would too...

tes6,no matter how bad it is, will get the same if not more by the community through modding. Being online IMO, is not the franchise's strong suit.
