I don't need all that crap cluttering up my inventory, It'll slow me down in the long run because my inventory will constantly be full and I'd need to drop stuff. It takes about 2 seconds to consciously loot, and a minimum of 10 to clear out your inventory.

You can disable auto loot for stealing.

LOOT ALL THE THINGS. I know some people that don't loot everything cause they don't want to take care of it after if its trash gear, but to me that is a waste of money. Auto loot goes faster and ever since they added the item display thing when you loot something its been easy to see what you got too, and lootlog addons makes it even better. No reason what so ever not to have auto loot.

To anyone who says "no" because you leave stuff in nodes and chests in overland...

Please know that whoever finds that node or chest with your trash curses you to get vampirism the old school way. (hint: it's getting banged by Molag Bol... ask Lamae about it)

Indeed, the people that leave stuff out of nodes are extremely inconsiderate, I mean even to themselves. If you do a rotation of nodes and don't take it fully then it won't respawn, its a D move no matter how you look at it.

I know someone who is max all bank and has millions of gold so when we run trials he just nitpicks the items he wants off the dead bodies.

Watch your tongue kid, I don't use autoloot and I loot worms for bait. But when I see that runestone has only Ta and Deteri then I leave it for someone who would want that. If I loot every bandit I killed then my inventory would be overloaded before even second boss.

Then go buy some more inventory space, doesn't cost that much gold. Also since you have already done the animation for picking it up, why not loot it? Seems a waste, everything has a price.

I like to take a moment and see what I'm getting, and when and where I got it. If I got a set piece with good traits and I need to lock it down. I do leave behind picks and blue motif books, but those containers are instanced. So it's not like I'm leaving behind worms or a green piece of gear for the next person, which by the way I always know when that happens.

I did try auto-loot once, thinking it would loot automatically when you kill something. That would be a real time saver. Since I'm still clicking anyways, usually one more press of R isn't costing me much more time.

Yep. There's a setting for stolen loot that's separate. I auto-loot everything. Not having stolen loot set to auto has saved me on multiple occasions. You incur bounty only if you LOOT. You don't get for just looking.

You can also try Masterthief add on that let's you have auto loot on while sneaking but turns it off while standing to prevent those accidental steals.

Just so you all know, it has been proven, and if you have the patience you can prove it yourself, that partially looted nodes do refresh themselves. It just on a 5 minute timer or so.

The people who leave Ta, Worms, and lvl 12 Prosperous bows in Craglorn chests are the ones not using it.

you can set filters to not loot that stuff through an add on though.

I don't leave stuff in nodes/chests - I've hated people who do that since early WoW.

But that doesn't mean I want to deal with all the junk I'd pick up if I had auto-loot on. I search barrels/bags/cabinets/everything. But I only want some of the things in those containers, and they're instanced just for me. The Loot All key is good enough for those rare cases where I do want all the loot in that corpse/box/sack.

(Even when I was subbed with a craft bag, I still didn't turn on auto-loot. I don't want every piece of civilian clothing, every already-known cooking recipe, and every 0-value sword.)

Not enough space on characters. I only grab specific items that go into crafting bag. The 7 or 8 spaces I have is saved for quality gear drops.

This, the only downside is then you change direction, dismount and pick it just to find an worm, as I use auto loot i might not notice that its just a worm on the loot list.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Yes only because I have the crafting bag and can store everything in it otherwise I would not use it, it would be pointless as you are just taking valuable storage space.

I've only been using it the past couple of months though and it's definitely a time saver just looting things and picking them up automatically. If you're not a sub then I advise against it.

Do you carry half your bank with you or something? only 7-8 open inventory slots at any given time?

I'm not subscriber so I don't loot trash. I don't understand why I should have auto-loot, If clicking 'R' to loot all takes less than one second and burns calories at your finger.
    Exactly.
I don't want to grab every item, for most of them I simply do not have a use for and some are too cheap to sell them.
So I just take the ones I can sell for a good amount of money.

I don't have infinite money. my next inventory upgrade costs 20k and I need this money to buy myself a house and motif pages from guild traders. I don't care If I wasted two seconds for animation. I'd need another ten seconds to destroy trash I just collected without reason to my inventory.

CraftAutoLoot is an add-on that only auto loots crafting mats (which aren't stolen/owned). It's a huge time saver because I can harvest nodes and free containers quickly, without having to go delete zero-value gear or stolen items constantly. An add-on to output loot to chat then tells me when I pick up heartwood, a node only had worms, etc.

This obviously doesn't help console folks though. :/
