Do you use Auto-Loot?

I kind of have to. With people being all Rushy McRusherton through dungeons and delves, if I don't auto-loot and actually take the time to look at anything or, gods forbid, actually try and read stuff, I'm gonna have to sit and wait for all the bosses to respawn all the time.

There seems to be confusion between the autoloot settings in ESO and an addon that adds functionality to this.
The addon is configurable, so that you can filter what you collect.
For the person that complained about a level 12 sword in a craglorn chest; I'll counter that with finding a level 50 item in a Bal Foyen chest...
For the person tha is kindly leaving TA etc behind; please take your rubbish with you

The addons related to auto loot are 'exploits' and the single biggest frustration caused to players running behind its users. We have to deal with half empty chests and runetowers with nothing useful in them. At least the chests say Use. You dont know what the tower contain until you pick it up.

I got suspenders for saying "Testicular Mass" instead of "Balls". like, rilly.

Also. You can sell everything you collect. Someone will buy it.

The people who leave Ta, Worms, and lvl 12 Prosperous bows in Craglorn chests are the ones not using it.

Those people are a pox on the game, and probably on their real life community as well.

No, those people just don't have craft bag and don't want to fill their Inventory with trash.

    Totally legit.

    Its not.
Half-looted nodes take much longer to respawn (I'm not sure if they actually respawn - I often stumble upon 4-5 unlocked chests in a row while farming motifs), and leaving trash behind is just rude to other players.
Imo it shouldnt be possible to leave trash in non-instanced nodes. Too many people are being selfish scumbags.

Exactly, i'm surprised they didn't just make chests character based like how FF14 has nodes they have alot longer cd's but its character based so therefore people can't take your nodes or your chests.

I use the 'take all' option a lot, but I like to look in every single container and there's a lot of junk in this game that isn't worth taking, like weapons and armour that are worth nothing and don't give anything when salvaged, or the 900th apple. So I like to see what's in there before taking anything.
Same here. It's also partly as a fall-back to the time before Loot History, as I wanted to know what I was actually picking up.

No. While it's handy, I'm just used to press a key to take everything like in other games like Skyrim, Dragon Age and Witcher. I tried playing with auto loot but sadly all I did was wasting my ultimate all the time XD

Too much useless stuff, and i want to know what i loot.
    Groupfinder:
The worst part is when it finally puts you in a group, your healer turns into a werewolf, your tank has 14k HP and the dps is heavy armor, using a restro staff and a two handed sword on the backbar. Then comes the 15 minute penalty before the cycle starts anew.

    Rulz of Morrowind:
    • The first rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • The second rule of Morrowind is: You do not talk about Morrowind.
    • Third rule of Morrowind: Someone yells NDA stuff, uploads images, streams, the game is over.
    • Fourth rule: only invited players can test.
    • Fifth rule: one invite at a time, fellas.
    • Sixth rule: crying or bashing on pts.
    • Seventh rule: NDA will go on as long as they have to.
    • And the eighth and final rule: If this is your first invite at Morrowind, you have to play.

Holy Crap! I've been looting ten thousand urns daily.
    I never knew about this...
This is the best thing ever!

I will ALWAYS use AUTO-LOOT now! At least until I'm no longer an ESO+ member

Fortunately, not everything that gets left behind is trash. Yes, I have more TA runes than I'll ever use, but yesterday I came across a chest that had level 30-something blue gauntlets in there that someone had left behind. I was on a low level character who couldn't use them yet, but we quite happily deconned those suckers!

I actually don't mind finding just a worm sometimes either. I'm always happy to find bait.

It's just as likely (if not more so) that those who do that are using auto-loot plus an addon that filters out stuff they don't want and leaves it behind.

What they should do is remove the unique from treasure maps so we have the full option to loot everything from the chest, and if you don't loot everything from the chest and leave it open to waste others time you should get a 30 min debuff that you can't pick another chest till that debuff wears off.

Only when fishing. I will not leave things behind in a node or a resource, but when I am looting the carcasses of my enemies, I am simply not going to pick up trash. I really do not need to get my sixty-fifth green Chicken Breast recipe.

Yes to the "remove unique" maps and no to the debuff. I can just imagine my baby alts crying because they can't find anything to throw away to clear a chest.

Actually, it's probably the opposite. It's likely the people who DO use autoloot and they don't even notice that they are leaving stuff behind because they are in such a hurry.

I don't use auto-loot and I have never left anything behind, even before the craft bag or the merchant.

Auto loot isn't an addon. It's in the game settings. You don't get a chance to choose the items when you open a node or container --- unless you have an extra addon that does this filtering for you.

And there is nothing you can do about it.

    Yes, you're right.

Most likely 'nothing', from whatever guilds you belong to.

That makes no sense. You only have to used the overloaded "R" key when you have Autoloot turned off, which most people do for stolen items only. The solution to the problem of accidentally wasting your Ultimate because of what may be the most stupid default binding in the history of gaming is to remap the key bindings (I swapped bindings so I have "U" for Ultimate and "R" for Collections but there are other possibilities).

First, good on you for not leaving trash behind, that is decent of you and is as it should be.

I just want to observe that it's very, very hard to not notice you're leaving something behind with auto-loot, because it makes the "bonk" noise and kicks up a window full of stuff you haven't taken yet that you have to actively exit out of to get rid of.

It only does that if your inventory is full, at which point you are morally obligated to find something to throw away to make room for it even if you are a baby alt with no expanded loot bag because seriously if it's that close go find a merchant before you open any more dang chests, sheesh. I've had to throw away stuff I could've used because I chose to open a chest before just to empty useless crap out of it, it's annoying, but etiquette before convenience.
