After almost 2 weeks of the PVP event. I know there have been a lot of people new to PVP giving it a go. I'd like to know your views on PVP and whether the event has, perhaps, changed your views.
Please only respond if you've spent enough time to complete (or almost) complete the event. I'd rather the poss wasn't skewed by views from people who havn't dipped in enough toes to really get a feel for it.
And please don't respond if you're already a full or part-time PVPer.

I will vote others as I was a former PvP player in Cyrodiil for a couple of years but have been focused on PvE for the last 7 months.

I actually manned up and did my first battleground because of this event and now I am hooked, I love them to bits. I think I will be doing a lot more of them. :)

Has not played PvP in a long time and found I missed the chaotic fun.
Will do more, main issue is that i feel i need an evening for it, an 1 hour session is too short.

Been in Cyrodiil every day of the event and I've been having fun and will definitely be spending more time there after the event.

The server performance has been an issue but on/off so when its good I've had even more fun.

The gear I've been using and my understanding of PvP..... not the best and my own fault. When I have spare mats will be crafting better gear and then start some farming of the sets I want to use. Will also try and muscle memory some PvP responses so I'm less squishy, I currently react to certain things waaaaaay too slowly.

Only true issue is I don't have enough time to do everything I want to with both PvE and PvP.

With my computer and connection, I rarely crash or experience lag. Sometimes only in the most crowded fights with a lot of effects going off at once, but rarely even then. So my experience is purely with the fights and not with the system issues that make PvP in ESO difficult for many people (judging by forum posts).

I'm neutral about the whole experience, neither hating it nor really liking it. If the group leader is tactically smart, then it can be a lot of fun. If, as happened last night, the group leader just runs off ahead of everyone with little direction to the group, and the group gets scattered across the map, then it's just tedious and frustrating.

The thing about Cyrodiil for me is that it gets boring. Run over here, take this keep or resource. Run over there, take that keep or resource. Do that over and over and over again with no real objective, strategy or tactics. Meh...

I hated IC from the very beginning and still feel the same way. Haven't tried battlegrounds or duels. Maybe I'll find battlegrounds more interesting, so might give it a try.

    Haven't tried it yet.

It's not really my preferred playstyle, but I have to admit that I did somewhat enjoy it in GW2. I'd probably have some fun with it in ESO as well, but there are a few reasons why I haven't attempted it yet...

    1. My character isn't set up for PVP
    2. I don't have any ESO PVP skills or experience
    3. Most people have complained about server instability in PVP, and I would rather not deal with that
    4. My internet connection has been spotty lately as it is (already contacted them about it, they're supposed to come and look at it today, but I'm not keeping my hopes up)

I don't PVP, but in PVE, I'm constantly rezzing random dead people. Half the time, they're AFK and don't realize that somebody rezzed them. The other half of the time, they port to a wayshrine before I finish. I waste so many soul gems trying to rez unaware and ungrateful people. I should stop, but I have so many soul gems that I rarely use anyway, and I keep getting more.

I had done a fair bit of PvP before, and had Veteran on two of my chars before. Also, being a completionist this is my chance to get Assault and Support to 10 on my chars. I like to level out ALL skills on my chars.

I decided that "Sergeant" was a good place to be with them, and after the event, I will hopefully be running a lot more in the sewers with them, as I have also found my self a group of old friends who started a new guild.

I feel the same way now as I did before the event: I like the idea of Cyro but the balance makes playing very anti-fun. Not to mention the infinite loading screens...

I'll still play it from time to time (if not for anything else just for increasing my AW rank).

As for BGs I really dislike them and don't see myself playing them again any time soon.

While I'm truly stuck between the first 2 choices, I figured that the second option more so hit closer to home. The PvP community just makes me uncomfortable. Be it the cringy terminology used at times, or the fact that emperor and a lot of things are based on alliances working together and nothing really being genuine or authentic anymore about it. Throw in all of the people who use cheese builds and support cheesing, and I just can't rock with it.

I would not say I loved it and will become a PVPer but I was pleasantly surprised and will probably PVP more now. I used to go to Cyro only if there was a Guild event and I happened to be logged in, but now I'm considering PVPing at least a couple of hours per week.

It surprised me that other players in my faction were super nice and helpful, and I did not get any hate whispers or teabags from the opposing faction players even once. I got killed often, but that's normal. There was one group with a guy commenting negatively on people with polymorphs and Master Angler titles (I guess he disapproves of PVErs and RPers invading his turf?) but that was it.

I still enjoy questing alone more, so that's where I spend most of my time, but PVP is no longer the scary place it once was.

I love it a lot. Mainly because being a healer as my main really made me feel useful. I know that most people prefer to be the DPS-kinda-guy, but for me it is all about being a supporter.
I didnt even bother to get any impen on my gear and went in with 2 piece Troll King / 5 Kagrenacs and didn't die too often in a brutal manner. Sure every once in a while your whole team gets steamrolled, but that is just the way it is. I might come back now on a daily basis, but damn this game has so much content I still need to do....it is hard to find time for all of it.

I got stuck waiting in line so haven't been in pvp land since it started. Interestingly, about 3 weeks before the event I was trying pvp out and enjoying hanging out with a group I met in there. Hopefully when its all over and I can get back in, those guys will still be around to play with. My enthusiasm for the game in general is low though that's just burn out on my part from overplaying for the year.

I want to love it. Sometimes I actually do. A few things that do give me pause.

    1. Load screen time. Sometimes it's quick like it should be and I can hop around on my own or keep up with the group. Other times it takes minutes. When that happens, my night is done.

    2. Some nights it feels like the vast majority of my time is spent commuting. More time spent going from place to place than actual fighting.

    3. My opinion based off my personal experience, youtube videos and watching other fights. I think the ratio between damage and hit points is too narrow. Fights results happen too fast. There is no margin for error, especially when someone gets the jump on another player. 3k- 6k+ hits against an opponent with 22k hps makes it a quick outcome. I know good players can overcome, but poor or average players can't.

I found that when I started Pvping too.. It takes quite a bit of 'combat time' to learn to survive - but it can be hard to get when you're dying so quick.. And too much dying = too much time running back to the fight. I'd probably advise most new PVPers to go down the tanky/healing route initially to get that 'combat time'. I guess its easier to get with BG's and Duelling now too.
It does get better. The more you learn to survive, the longer the fights, so the more 'combat time' you get to learn with - and the less time riding back...

I had never played PVP in this game up until a few months ago because i thought I would not like it. When I spent a week in Cyrodiil for unlocking Vigor and Caltrops for a PVE toon, I was pleasantly surprised by the fun I had!

This event made me come back as I also had my new toon leveled to 50 just for PVP'ing. I even did the LFG thing this time around and had loads of fun (as well as loads of AP). I will definitely return and mix it up with PVE and Battlegrounds.

The community can be as great as the one in PVE-land, and sometimes just as toxic. The overall experience was/ is a great one.
