This game DESPERATELY needs an Auction House of sort!

The only thing I hate about the current trade guild system is that my ability to sell depends entirely on the actions of other players in the game. And, as I'm sure you'll all agree, players are terrible.

Since both system are prone to manipulation, I would choose convenient over annoying and timeconsuming everytime. Not to mention all the loading screens... I wonder how much of an impact all the unnecessary zoning has on the servers, since the backend seems to perform quite poorly.

A while back I made a proposal to keep the the guildstores and just use one single item pool in the background. Then a "commission" for selling other guilds stuff on the own guildstore could go directly to this guild. This commission should be added on top of the asked price and it should not be visible what guild this item comes from. This way, items from your guild will still be cheaper at the guilds own merchant and good locations are still important to get.

I read many interesting comments about this addon.

I'd like to say to the author :
    - in case you're genuine, thank you very much for your hard work and your will to support the community with advanced addons. You don't deserve the torrents of cristicism you've been getting. Keep up the positive attitude.
    - but even if you're genuine, what were you thinking ? Both the level of bypassing the game's design (guild traders) as well as the potential of abuse offered by this addon (executable, 3rd party server, potential abuses of the COD procedure) are beyond acceptable.

So while I appreciate the effort, I still hope the addon will be forbidden or prohibited one way or the other, or simply won't catch enough people's interest.

If it functions anywhere near as good as the industries leading mmos and is not banned. There is going to be a lot more users using it than not. Then maybe these devs will finally see that maybe they were wrong about shunning an auction house.

There is alot of enthusiasm for a game adding depth over convenience. Economy should not be one of those.

My only experience of other mmo's is never winter, maybe about 24hrs put into so not used to auction house, never had one and still think the system is so messed up here, you gotta be able to go somewhere search everything and buy what you need.

This whole travel round the full world to find an item is something I will never do, call it lazy if you want but I'd much rather spend my time doing some quests or dungeons and get my gear that way although I do feel like I'm missing out on a lot because the way it is.

Sounds like you are in the wrong guilds.

Honestly, alot of us are very happy with the system as it is. Effort = rewards. Old ladies get the deals by looking round and finding deals. AH is way too open to market manipulation too.

join 5 good guilds with no fee, and you can search all their goods from one bank, sell your gear and profit. All problems fixed. Inform the GM you have breaks from the game, it list high value gold items when you do and they will be fine.

Why on earth would you trawl for day to day items like grapes?

Adapt and overcome. I, any many others I know, who like the effort / reward of current system, 100% do not want a AH. It would break a system that works well if you work it right. And put some effort in.

Trade guilds with no fees have traders in *** locations, meaning you won't be selling a lot of anything.

Joining 5 trade guilds also leaves you no room to join actual PvE or PvP guilds.

Overall, the system is completely broken and needs an overhaul. This is coming from someone who does quite well in the current system.

    This.

Can't afford to end game PvE or play PvP without joining a bunch of trade guilds or slinging items in zone chat for hours each week. So you join some trader guilds to sustain the in-game cost of actually playing the game. Now you have no room for PvP or PvE guilds so you find yourself spamming LFG in chat everytime you log on.

Give us guild categories if anything. GMs can set the guilds category upon creation. Players get 5 guild slots per category (PvP, Trials, Trader, etc.). At least then I can support my spending habits required to participate in trials/PvP while actually being in a guild centered around those aspects of the game rather than be part of a trader guild that requires me to buy my membership each week like it's a damn country club just so I can sell items to be able to afford to play the actual game.

Get awesomeguildstore addon. Your welcome. If your on console u get what u deserve.

Not everyone wants to be glued to their PC all day, and actually prefer to just relax and play from the couch. Oh, and don't say you can do that with a PC, because you might as well just buy a console at that point.

I don't think so. System is too easy to troll :
    - Use addon
    - Buy many things
    - Receive many COD mails. never accept any of them.

If even only a couple hundred players do that, the addon will have the reputation of a huge scam and disappear.

And that's in the option that ZOS will let the addon live its life.

Again I'm sorry for the addon author - who may have the best intentions in the world and may have put a lot of work into this. But there's a real design issue here.

Oh please, this is the most spurious argument I have ever seen.

18 Years ago an AH was NOT standard mechanics in MMORPGs.

Not so much an argument, but a laid trap.

Here's a little story about EQ. When they released their 3rd expansion, they added a Bazaar. A primitive version of a Auction House. Basically you had to setup your character as a merchant in the zone and people could search for items and find you as a merchant.

Its was crude it only allowed for really buys and sales to happen late at night. SInce a character had to be logged in and sitting still as a merchant that could be interacted with like a NPC.

Lets fast forward a couple of years, they allowed offline trading so you didn't need to be sitting on that particular character. So you could make a Bazaar mule and sell things on there while playing something else. Making it very close to an AH.

Go forward a bit to the most recent progression servers. These servers mimiced vanilla EQ. Which means no Bazaar zone. People returned to the Commonlands to sell and buy.

But a discussion happened on the forums. Some people like here in ESO, wanted access to the bazaar even through the Time Locked Progression system wouldn't unlock those zones for about 6 months. It was actually met with opposition. Why would players in EQ who had access to a AH-like system before, would willingly give it up?

There is merit to leaving it out. It ensures player interaction within a MMO when it comes to buying and selling. Something more personal than a simple computer generated GUI interface. Its not as convenient. But it is more sociable. And if you would accuse me of suggesting they should remove guild traders, I wouldn't deny that would be a great idea.

A standard mechanic, isn't always a great one. In ESO I do see people using chat to sell items rather than using the Guild Traders. That means players are talking, chatting, and interacting in a MMO.

Its funny how you bring up housing, because one of the things I would warn ZoS against is allowing too much to be done in solo housing. Best way to kill a MMO is to shove noobs into a lifeless world where all the high levels are off in their personal instances and the game appears dead. Instead there should always be a reason for players to congregate where noobs can see them.
    Anti_Virus wrote: »
All those locations are controlled by rich trading guilds thats have 3m plus to bid each week. So i will need to find one in the middle of Shadowfen somewhere and advertise its location, since it's not in a major city.

    Can't tell if trolling or?

You go to a city and type /z WTS <linked item> PST with offer.

Don't need a guild trader for that.

Many players would be opposed to the early introduction of the Bazaar on the progression servers not because they didn't want to use an AH-like system, but because introducing it out of sequence would be completely contrary to the whole point of progression servers. Direct trading in the East Commons tunnel was massively nostalgic for many players, myself included. However, it is nothing like using zone chat to sell items in ESO and it would never catch on in a modern MMO where people are used now to having a public trading system accessible to everyone and that's what ESO needs.

I do, however, agree with you about player housing and have constantly made the same point whenever extending the "usefulness" of housing has come up here. EQ2's guildhalls are a classic example of how a game world becomes deserted when you give everyone the opportunity to do everyday activities in a private instance rather than in the cities.

    Hello everyone,

This post is to let you know that we've felt it necessary to put this thread down, as it seemed to have died some time ago. At this time we'd like to try and keep Draugr threads from roaming around front page, pushing down newer and more lively threads. This will also help avoid multiple threads open on the same subject on the front page.

    Thank you for understanding!
