Why does Midyear Mayhem require 50 killing blows, rather than 5000 kill contributions?

Can confirm, oils are a ridiculously good investment.
I've got a bomblade setup ready to go, so hopefully with the influx of players I can at least catch a few unawares. Battlegrounds are a good idea, though. Or find a friend who you can convince to annoy the enemy while you go in for the kill.

If you're a templar, slot Radiant. If you're a sorc healer (god help you if you are), slot Mage's Fury

Same for me, I did'nt even know the emp was there, all i was doing was spamming some posion tipped arrows into a zerg as they burst through the keep door.0 -

That is less than 5 kills per day. If you cannot get 5 kills per day you do not deserve an achievement.

During this event I picture PvE only people getting this achievement through 2 of each faction killing and rezzing until they all have it in some dark corner of the map. (How we used to practice/duel before actual dueling) People who hardly PvP can probably have this done before I get home from work.
Does this encourage small scale? You have a 50% chance at the killing blow if its just two of you...Fear is the Mindkiller1 -

✭✭✭50 Killing Blows shouldn't be too hard... unless, of course, your class is "unique" for not having an execute or any way to use an execute... and most of your "special" class abilities are easily purged.

✭You think 50 kills in one week is difficult? That is just 7.14 killing blows a day. There is nothing difficult about dumping oils on some group attacking a keep. In fact you will rarely be killed doing so even if you do nothing to defend yourself.1 -

Yes it did. The achievements for killing an Emperor, a Grand Overlord, the five classes and the ten races are all based on killing blows. I take it you don't think PvP Dailies should reward anything then, because they don't require killing blows?
Again, there's a big difference between contribution and killing blow. What's the reason to play tanks or healers during the event, or any build without burst/execute? None really, unless you just don't care about that particular achievement (which is fair for those people).

This is correct; I met a very confused Grand Overlord who killed my allies around then found themselves unable to kill my all-the-pets-ever build and I "killed" them... only for no achievement as one of my faction had rolled up and ulted him once he was out of resources.

✭I was hoping this event might encourage more people who don't typically PvP to come out and at least try it. I feel the 50 killing blows will discourage them from even trying the event. This event should be fun and easy so that more people who have a "I hate PvP" attitude might see that PvP can be a lot of fun. Is it too late for, ZOS to change this so that this will be a more enjoyable event for those who are a little timid about PvP?3 -
