What if it/they are people of a RL group not discussed here? A group so obvious you might not even consider it, because they are so close to the game (hint, hint). NOT inferring that they are. Has anyone even considered that possibility?
Would that explain a lot? Nuf said.
EDIT: you probably shouldn't discuss this.

i wish it was like that, but seemingly no.
its not like some didnt deserve that.
I think that would be way too harsh, especially if the purchase was from a guild store trader. Fully support them taking the gold off the person that put the duped item up for sale but you can't take the item off the person that brought it as it's hihgly likely they had no idea whatsoever.
yeah nobody of those poor innocent buyers from belkarth which are also powersellers in belkarth would came to the idea that buying 50 or 100 dust in a stack fpr 20 or 30k each is a bit fishy
hey jo, it has been my guild outbid by that ru trade, and zos didnt dare to correct the situation and to put the guild with the next higher bid on that spot, it jsut has been left free.
hey it could have been also ttg, ttm or at to get outbid by them, as i know zos, it also could have been, they dont react on that problem - then they maybe would have been bidding on the other guilds there too. then it was the oh-so-naive belkarths powersellers gold which ended up in bids against their own guilds.
thats all.
i see all the time in listings of guilds which are botinfected the same and the same resellers names buying up all that scraps and unrefined mats. u not gonna tell me, anybody of those doesnt know the origin of that material, when they put min. 5 mio each week into that material and sell those in belkarth then. u can't.
but hey okay - a warnmail from zos would be already enough to stop most of them.
At this stage it's all hearsay over the duping though. I don't believe there is a duping glitch because it's only a couple of items that appeared. Maybe a node dropping higher rates than it should.
People shouldn't be punished for buying things at a discount, that rational is just ludicrous.
It's also quite possible that it was a strategy to drive the MM average price down to allow these people to buy more back at a lower price just to sell at higher prices in a few weeks time. I can't see how doing that is against in rules and is basically just bringing real world economic trading into the game.

Correct. The market exists in MMO's (always have and will) and the only way for it to go away (as someone else said earlier) is for people to stop buying gold and/or accounts, however, that's probably not going to happen. Many people would rather spend $10 of their own money that took very little time to earn compared to tens to hundreds of hours in a game setting. That goes along with the account selling market.
You can read the readily available guidelines on MMO gold selling and market controlling enterprises and realize the nefariousness of the practice, the vastness of the practice (4 open markets alone in ESO), and how difficult it is to begin sorting out those who are legitimately attempting to earn money in ESO and those purposely taking advantage of the market.
ZOS was smart in having an individual guild system instead of a global build/auction system as that helps immensely, however, they are dealing with highly experienced exploiters with large networks who are simply smarter than they are concerning this issue. It kinda reminds me of the Taken scene where the good guy says, "I will find you." and the bad guy says, "Good luck." except that it's the Family Guy version.
