Dealing damage is 1 of a dozen things someone can do to be dangerous. It's also the only thing you can't do if you spec yourself to be so tanky you have almost no damage.
The bottom line is being tanky and hard to kill used to be something you needed to be skilled at before the ridiculous Dark Brotherhood buffs. Devs didn't like it, overbuffed heavy to the point of silliness and now any scrub can put on some heavy armour and do it. Game started going downhill from there. Get zerged by "useless" tanks everywhere you go.
Isn't that what a tank should do? Deal little damage but "taunt" in form of annoy people until they jump you instead of the glass cannons and healers behind? Standing there as a solid rock throwing cottonballs doesn't sound appealing, they have to have a use. Like I said before, if they fix block cost reduction this thread will become obsolete.

Pure tanks aren't viable in PvP. Theyve never been viable. There is 0 reason to play a pure tank in a game mode that is about killing people besides doing it because it's funny or because you're expecting to get carried by numerical superiority at every turn with very little risk of dying yourself.
None of this excuses heavy armour's current state, as it simply gives too much. Before Dark Brotherhood every serious raid healer was already wearing 5 heavy and then building for sustain because heavy armour is just that good at making you unburstable. And guess what? People sustained almost infinite BoL spam just fine. To go from that state to further heavy armour buffs just blows my mind.
Honestly, it's beyond me why people are so obsessed with being a pure tank in PvP. There is no real trinity in ESO PvP, the healers ARE the tanks, because they have to be tanky to withstand all the aggro theyre getting.
It's like people complaining about vMA not being a tank-friendly place. No ***, you have to do the killing yourself so you better spec for a bit more damage.

So with Sharpened getting nerfed, where exactly are players supposed to make up this loss of damage? It doesn't take long to run into one of these unkillable tank clowns in Cyrodill that take multiple ppl minutes to put down. Heavy is too strong, healing is too strong, and impen is too strong, then on top of it the sword and board ulti is getting cast seemingly every 30 seconds....
We're always just supposed to run with a zerg and that's it? I mean granted these guys can't kill a skeever 1v1 but how is that fun gameplay? DPS should be able to break tanks down after sometime not have it be futile
I'm the "Don't change what aint broken" kind of guy and would say that heavy needs to go back to what it was. Back then people seriously underestimated how useful the additional survivability from heavy was and that's why zos overbuffed it in the first place.
Taking less damage, receiving more healing and having more max health all contributes to your sustain directly. You need to spend less resources being on the defensive and healing up. It's why when heavy got buffed to be on par with medium in terms of raw resource sustain (and weapon damage, buffed) suddenly heavy armour became the "less risk, same reward" version of medium armour for basically a year, from a stamina perspective.
Sure, heavy got brought down a little bit with morrowind, but so did all the other armour types so it's not really the same.

Yeah. All they do is basically troll ppl. They should be hard to kill, but they should not be unkillable 1v1. If they put no damage on their character then no, they should not be killing me.
In older elder scrolls games we could literally break their armor down to 0% using destruction magic. If we could do that in this game, that'd go a long way to solving the issue to but who wants to have to repair their armor after every fight? We need more options and since they refuse to add new skill lines they need to update old things.

Your idea of fun might be different than theirs. Maybe they actually enjoy tanking someone forever. I sometimes do. Especially when the player is of better quality. I've seen DPS and I believe you included if your psn name is the same kill 5-6 people.
So why can't I tank 5-6 people?

You can, especially if you have that sword and board ultimate up, but not indefinitely. Eventually you should die. I literally just got done saying that they should be hard to kill but not impossible. That's the difference.

Using the same logic:
I should be able to one shot everyone, because I enjoy one shotting everyone.
Common sense dictates that neither of these scenarios would be considered balanced.

My point was I enjoy tanking 1 person indefinitely occasionally Just like they like to 1 shot people occasionally. But for a DPS to kill 5-6 people on him and then expect a tank to die in a 1v1 seems strange to me.

Just ignore these builds and go do something useful rather than beating your head on a brick wall that cant kill you.
