Is zos pulling items originally intended to be earned in-game into the crown store? evidence

Unless it goes live as an in game item I wouldn't say they pulled it out of the game, this was released as a crown store item. Also, it's purely cosmetic so that's the exact type of items they should sell if they are going to have a crown store.

However if you looked at the thread I linked, it looks like zos was going to put it as a In-game item and the shaman skin as the crown store item but decided the ugly shaman item wouldn't sell and so gave achievement hunters a skin most wouldn't wear while the awesome skin is earnable with you wallet...

In other words they intended to give us the awesome item in-game, decided the ugly thing they had wouldn't sell and then switched it around

That is 100% speculation. You have ZERO idea what their reasoning behind it was - if it even actually happens.

I love how you act like you caught them with their hands in the cookie jar - IT'S THEIR COOKIE JAR! You can buy a cookie from them or not - it's your choice.

It's not speculation when ZoS' behavior indicates otherwise. With the entire "chapter" fiasco, this definitely sounds like the type of BS they would try to pull.

Aren't people "selling" runs to get skins? Skins are no longer indicators of personal skill. Maybe all cosmetic changes *should* be in the crown store...

How many threads about this are you going to start?

This is my first thread about this?

So the one you made saying the helms should be earnable in game isn't the same thing?

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/353569/should-zos-add-telvanni-cephalopod-helms-to-the-crown-store-or-earnable-in-game#latest

Not to mention that the sole purpose of this thread is to link to another one.

dont complain about it being in the crown store. Its in the store because you want it. Some people feel they must have it.

Supply and demand - if theres a demand - they will sell it.

I'm beginning to think that very few people around here understand how a business works in the real world....

It's not BS unless BS stands for "Business Sense". You make something that consumers want and you SELL it, you don't give it away. You all act like they are here to make your life complete but the ONLY reason they made this game is to...wait for it....

    Wait for it......

Do you really think any one of them gives two craps about ESO? You are living in a dream world if you think that they do.

There's things datamined that have never made it into the game thus far, and until it and is actually available in the game we can only speculate what method would be used. For all we know it could be for future content we don't know about yet.

@Sigtric In general, I would agree. But in this specific case, the skin (1) is named after a dungeon in the DLC (2) has flavor text that explicitly reference a dungeon in the DLC (3) is mentioned in the promotional description for the DLC. So, no, this isn't for future unknown content. The skin was designed for the dungeon and appears to have been originally intended to be rewarded as an achievement reward but was then changed to a CS item without them fully scrubbing away references to its original intent.

It is easy to draw that conclusion, sure. I would even go so far as saying you are most likely right it is not for future unknown content. However this is all based on PTS and datamined material, which has and does change sometimes. Datamined material sometimes never actually comes to fruition. Basically, we don't know for sure until we know for sure.

My guess is that the error is actually on the collectible UI part. That it is not intended as an award for the dungeon and instead promotional CS items to go hand in hand with either the Horns DLC launch, or possibly a longer story arc involving the dungeon we don't yet know about.

I fail to see what's the problem here. Now that people (who also paid for the game and many have an active sub too) who cannot afford to have the time and patience to be many hours practicing for end-game content, can get a merely cosmetic item (not P2W), the "pro's" complain.
Pro's already have four skins to brag and show off, It's unfair to try to deprive others ("deerty casuls") from a nice skin just because they want to be the only ones to have them to show the world how "elite and special" they are.

Gotta squeeze every last cent out of your customers before they realize the game is dead.

Userbase is experiencing a growth now that it has not ever before = game is dying. Flawless logic.

@redshirt_49 Can you put some evidence to your claim that the game is experiencing such a growth?

Sure, official numbers last year reported 7M unique players. Official numbers from february this year notes an increase of 1,5M players, totalling 8,5M over all platforms. These are statements from ZOS of course, though the steam player charts do reflect that as well (though it only tracks players playing the game through Steam, the trend is nevertheless observable ) with the expected drops around holiday seasons and surges in numbers around updates and the likes, though the increase in players within the last six months is quite a bit more drastic than the ones before it.
They never stated 7 million unique players different accounts.Same thing 10 million different account you don't have to buy the game to make a account.

Didn't they say on ESO Live that they did this so people would be able to show that they've done both dungeons, by wearing a hat and a skin (can't wear two skins)? Not that that isn't just an excuse or some after-the-fact justification... doesn't really bother me either way.

You realise that the skin could just be part of a collector's edition dlc package. That is very much in line with things they have done in the past.

This is a duplicate of the PTS thread OP links.

Getting more trafic on the topic isn't necessarily a good thing since feedback is merely conjecture from anyone who hasn't actually checked it out and especially seen the important information in the real thread.
