Is zos pulling items originally intended to be earned in-game into the crown store? evidence

I decided to post this link here as pts isn't a forum that gains much traffic. Datamined was the amazing bloodroot skin that makes your character appear to have lava, and the description even hints it was intended to be a In-game item... instead they replaced the skin with a helmet most people will not use and the only other earnable skin is the ugly shaman skin I wouldnt wear even if I got paid to.... Why this mentality? It's like the same reason they won't add guars to morrowind's stables for gold... all so they can sell it to us for irl money...

In other words, they intended to give us the awesome item in-game, decided the ugly thing they had wouldn't sell and then switched it around.

Unless it goes live as an in game item I wouldn't say they pulled it out of the game, this was released as a crown store item. Also, it's purely cosmetic so that's the exact type of items they should sell if they are going to have a crown store.

There's things datamined that have never made it into the game thus far, and until it and is actually available in the game we can only speculate what method would be used. For all we know it could be for future content we don't know about yet.

One is going to be added into the game, one doesn't exist at all in eso and is about both it's request for implementation and how it should be

Sure, official numbers last year reported 7M unique players. Official numbers from february this year notes an increase of 1,5M players, totalling 8,5M over all platforms. These are statements from ZOS of course, though the steam player charts do reflect that as well (though it only tracks players playing the game through Steam, the trend is nevertheless observable ) with the expected drops around holiday seasons and surges in numbers around updates and the likes, though the increase in players within the last six months is quite a bit more drastic than the ones before it.

Still don't think it should be considered as being pulled from the game unless it was actually on the live server. Difference of opinion but it keeps the world going around.

BoE dungeon loot is a better incentive to run a dungeon. All I'm saying is that at least it's a cosmetic item on the crown store and not something B2W, this could be a lot worse but a cosmetic skin being sold I find difficult to be upset about, especially when OP posts 15 threads a day complaining about Zos.

Love the fact they are putting a decently desirable skin in the crown store if in fact it ends up in the crown store.

This idea a segment of the community should decide which skin gets allocated where is ridiculous. Truth is if they polled the whole community the best looking skins would end up in the crown store where more people have access to them and not as pride trinkets for end game players.

The only obejection I have to any item is placing hem in crown crates not purchasable with gems like the new mounts they have hidden away trying to sell more gamble crates.

7M unique players? IIRC it was accounts, which not necessarily means active players. Interesting you mention Steam charts because there's quite a big difference in February 17 between 8.5M and 9.5k. But I'm sure they're all on the ESO launcher and long-term players as they've got so many incentives to stay.

The only thing I can see that checks out from your "evidence" is a small rise over 6 month with around 1.6k players increase, which is nothing if you have a meager 10k out of 8.5M accounts. But I guess you interpret numbers through your rose tinted glasses (perhaps crown store timed exclusive) different to me.

Again, I'm ok with ZOS making money as its health for the games lifespan. Some will argue they prefer to have things like this for Crowns rather than biting hours on RNG if it will drop.

I'm all for hard to get rewards in game though such as the Mazza/Cradle complete skins. But there needs to be balance to keep them Profitable

So, they decided to sell the thing that would sell and not the thing that wouldn't sell. Even if it's true, there is no problem here.

Or, it was actually a mistake in the first place, the items were supposed to be that way from the start and they just fixed the glitch.

It's clrearly noticeable that this skin was intended to be earned in game by achievements from new dungeons, but then they decided to sell it for real money in Crown Store. Why? These dungeons are quite difficult and probablymost of the players won't be able to get them. Putting them in Crown Store will give ability for casual players to get this skin + ZOS will make money on this.Another dirty move by ZOS.

(I think ALL the skins in game should be earned by achievements only.)

The crown store can die in a fire. Cosmetics are a proven incentive for content rewards.

@Sigtric In general, I would agree. But in this specific case, the skin (1) is named after a dungeon in the DLC (2) has flavor text that explicitly reference a dungeon in the DLC (3) is mentioned in the promotional description for the DLC. So, no, this isn't for future unknown content. The skin was designed for the dungeon and appears to have been originally intended to be rewarded as an achievement reward but was then changed to a CS item without them fully scrubbing away references to its original intent.

Considering their dwindling, abused player base leaving them for other games, they need more cash grabs to sustain themselves. They know their loyal sheep will pay for 8K mounts and 20K homes, so they figure they will also pay for achievements, too. The Crown Store is literally the "Donate" button to ZoS so that players can continue to be ignored by ZoS.
ZoS' official platform is: "Stop complaining and keep buying more Crates."
