The free ESO+ trial is actually a pretty nice boon for my alt account where I store a lot of crafting mats to sell, I can get some of the overflow into the bag for a little while. And my main account will get the free crates. I will of course get 5 more nix hounds but maybe that will bring me to enough crown gems to get the hair I wanted and missed out on cause SO MANY NIX HOUNDS.
I don't mind the pop-up, since I am good at missing everything and it's starting soon enough that I could have easily missed out on a day or two of the event, but a notification in my forum inbox would have been just as good and less invasive perhaps?
I like the new banner / pop up annoucing events and such... in fact it was the first thing I noticed tonight when going to the forums.
Now I am just currious if the RNG on the crown crates will stay the same or be lowered / raised for this event... I for one would love one of dwarven mounts but after receiving nothing the first two seasons I decided to not buy any the 3rd season.
Well, here you go. This explains so much. The people who can't control themselves and are prone to an addiction-type personality are the ones claiming the crates will feed a "gambling addiction." A normal person can open a set of crown crates and be satisfied, and stop, and not feel the need to open any more.It amazes me how bitter some people in this game are. It's very unlike ant TES community I have ever seen.
Anywho free is always good, and unlike the Social Justice Warriors I don't see it starting any gambling addictions. I think it would be cool if subscribers gout a couple free crates a month.
This is nothing about Social Justice Warriors here at all. I had this happened to me years ago, so speaking from experience. I have seen other people buy many lottery tickets to no avail and seeing the hopelessness when they don't get what they want.
Again, a better explanation on what crates are is warranted.

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom - Hi Jessica, On the point of not being negative, while this event in my personal opinion seems only a Publicity/ Marketing stunt. The game would be much better off and attract many more player, If you'd just fix the problems in the game. It has been evident, that many people have left or stopped playing the game because they got tired of your promises and getting no result despite of waiting a long time. The quality (not quantity) of content is lucrative but not without fault and that in most of the case has been the reason for so many negative reviews and resulting in many people not only shying away from getting in but a major reason for leaving.
#SAYNOTOCROWNCRATES- free or not.
Oh look someone else telling us how to spend our money. And calling this a marketing stunt? Wtf are you even implying, ZOS is a company and the goal of a company is to make money.
I wonder how many of the "Crown Crate Haters" are going to refuse to open their free Crown Crates in protest of them?
Yeah right... lollordrichter wrote: »
Sure you haven't... lol

This one likes the event even less. Free crates fair enough. This one she will use because she knows she will not pay for any more. Khajiit is as strong willed as a nix ox.
However for others it might be drawing them into irresistible temptation and spending too much. That has always been the main concern of this one as regards the crates. The other main concern being you do not know what you pay for.
Well if Khajiit she is not paying then ok - nothing it is lost in the opening.
This one should also say she opened the crate that came with MW. This one found it to be unpleasant and received nothing but the junk yes.
So this one she would say open your free crates if you feel you wish to - but do not let that draw you into buying more than you would otherwise have done. If you feel you are the sort of person who may give in then leave your free crates alone.
The other part of the event - the free ESO Plus is much much better. With this you know what you pay for and this one she considers it to be worth it.
Yours with paws

And calling a pop up cheesy while you roleplay a khajiit on every post? LOL

I've never opened a Crown Crate on any Live server. I opened some of them on PTS, when they were introduced on PTS back in 2016, but not one since then. Not even the free ones that I have. I have the action unbound from any keyboard controls. I would hide the stupid icon and exclamation point, if "No. Thank You!" actually hid it when "Disable Crown crates" was turned on.
Who was it that said "There's no such thing as a free lunch."?John Lydgate is credited with writing,“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.
It would be interesting to hear Lyndgate's take on the ESO crowd. Zos can't even give out free crown crates to it's plus members and for the non plus members five days of plus time , without criticism. As Chas and Dave sang, There is aint no pleasing you.

You complain about crown crates, but the real gateway drug is five free days of the crafting bag. When you realize your bags are suddenly almost empty, you never want to go back.

That first hit of crack is free. Once you are hooked...... the price is not free.

And I thought I had a cynical view of the gaming industry and life.ZO$ person 1 : Crown crate sales are down, what shall we do ?
ZO$ person 2 : Everyone has cancelled their subs, what shall we do ?
ZO$ Marketing (and psychology) person : An Event! Give them free crates and slightly increase the drop rate for the free crates, to get them hooked again. Then nerf them again soon as it's over. Oh, and give them a free week of ESO plus. That lot'll get em all hyped again.
ZO$ Dev 14 : What about fixing broken BGs and the other broken stuff ?
ZO$ All : Quiet you! Get back to moving rocks around Earthtear Cavern. This event will make them forget all of the broken stuff and bad feeling since Morrowind early access launched. Free Stuff !!

@The_Red_Viper - Where in my post I said how to or not to spend your money? I really don't care how others want to spend their money, but i'll have my say and that is I DO NOT SUPPORT CROWNCRATES and that's why the #. Since the launch I never mentioned in a single post if people should buy them or not. It's their call and their money.
Regarding your 2nd point, ofc ZOS is a company and goal is making money, but if you are so IGNORANT about quality of stuff receiving for the money paid for, then you are a hopeless white night and nothing else. And if you choose not to voice against it, or for the changes/ fixes needed, then you've no right to tell me if I should not.
