So this one she would say open your free crates if you feel you wish to - but do not let that draw you into buying more than you would otherwise have done. If you feel you are the sort of person who may give in then leave your free crates alone.

The other part of the event - the free ESO Plus is much much better. With this you know what you pay for and this one she considers it to be worth it.

@brandonv516 from my understanding you ONLY get crates if you pay for a sub and are an active paid ESO+ during the event. The free ESO+ won't grant you crates.

So I'll need to subscribe to ESO+ prior to July 5th to get the 5 free crowns?

Regarding the banner - it seems a bit large, and as others have said, it's design may mean it is seen as an external hack, rather than an official forum integration. I think it would look better, and more official, if it was the same size and design as the floating menu toolbar at the top, that being black with white text and beige highlights.

That popup about the event was good. I usually browse the forums once per day so this form of communication about in game events works for me.

I clicked on the learn more and now know about the event (already an ESO+ member so the free crates is appreciated).

BTW this is more what I was thinking.

Also Jess I would see if the team making it can make it seem more in line with the forums theme, as others said it was quote stand out a bit and could have people question the authenticity.

As I said on a FB post..Different teams handle the cosmetic stuff than the quests. Quests are different groups from the dungeon tool. Yes there is probably some overlapping but there are groups/teams that work on different parts.

Jk aside if they where to give the crates as a way to say "sorry we've messed up the grouping tool" i will be happy.
Anyway free stuff is always welcome even if is rng bars.

I use ABP and it still popped up. Though honestly once I hit the dismiss button it has vanished so it works quite well.

If it's part of the site code it won't be flagged as advertising as it's not add space. It's just some website code to make something pop up.

That's my limited newbie understanding of how things work.

Non subscribers who've been struggling with inventory, this is the opportunity to dump all the extra baggage you won't be using in the extra bank space and leave them there when ESO+ expires.

As for the crates, the RNG is so bad that most people will not get anything of worth in five of them. But, it's free stuff so thanks!

The banner totally worked for me, I have no complaints as long as it isn't used to try and sell things.

Notifications are nice, adverts are unwelcome.

I'm also going to +1 what Santie Claws said about this being a way to lure people into spending money. I will probably re-sub to get some "free" crates because it suddenly feels like a bargain... but I know I'm being ridiculous because I don't want anything in particular from the crates, I have a large stockpile of crowns and my crafting bag has plenty of mats... so I will probably get a month's sub that I really didn't need or want.

... it might be nice to get 5 nix-hounds though lol

It amazes me how bitter some people in this game are. It's very unlike ant TES community I have ever seen.

Anywho free is always good, and unlike the Social Justice Warriors I don't see it starting any gambling addictions. I think it would be cool if subscribers gout a couple free crates a month.

Ill take the free stuff. only looking for the non-combat pets for my house. However, I refuse to ever buy crown crates because I hate gambling. I always prefer spending on something I want rather gambling on stuff I don't.

This is nothing about Social Justice Warriors here at all. I had this happened to me years ago, so speaking from experience. I have seen other people buy many lottery tickets to no avail and seeing the hopelessness when they don't get what they want.

Again, a better explanation on what crates are is warranted.

It's a good marketing idea.

I do wonder sometimes; is ZoS a marketing company devising new marketing plans to profit from their game platform, or a gaming company devising improvements for their game, and profiting from their marketing platform. Maybe a thin distinction but where is the effort shown and who's getting the big take-downs besides, CBS. From my POV, it just seems like you are adding more and more veils to the same dancer.

The free ESO+ trial is actually a pretty nice boon for my alt account where I store a lot of crafting mats to sell, I can get some of the overflow into the bag for a little while. And my main account will get the free crates. I will of course get 5 more nix hounds but maybe that will bring me to enough crown gems to get the hair I wanted and missed out on cause SO MANY NIX HOUNDS.

I don't mind the pop-up, since I am good at missing everything and it's starting soon enough that I could have easily missed out on a day or two of the event, but a notification in my forum inbox would have been just as good and less invasive perhaps?

You need to go read the announcement again.

ESO Plus trials do not get the bonus crates. Paying subs do.

I like the new banner / pop up annoucing events and such... in fact it was the first thing I noticed tonight when going to the forums.

Now I am just currious if the RNG on the crown crates will stay the same or be lowered / raised for this event... I for one would love one of dwarven mounts but after receiving nothing the first two seasons I decided to not buy any the 3rd season.
