Yeah, ZOS are keeping their butts covered on this. A thorough investigation is going to take a few days, possibly with invisible GM presence on the server to monitor activity over say a 72 hour period.

They won't say anything whilst they are investigating it. They have acknowledged by mail that they are aware and for the players, thats all they need to know.

They are also probably coding a patch as well, and that could take anything from a few hours to a couple of days if its a duping exploit due to a loophole in the code (which, by the way, can take a LONG time to unravel and find said loophole).

The big problem right now is discovering how it happened - there appears to be no definitive proof of farming or duping, so all they can do is monitor output on the server and look for strange activity, when it happens again, then figure it out.

I have a horrible feeling that this is someone who might have all of this stuff on multiple accounts on "cooldown" from an old, long since patched bug/loophole/exploit, and has merely been holding on to it for a LONG time. They probably aren't bothered about getting banned right now as they no longer play, and have done this as a final "**** you" to the game.

What will happen when they are ready to strike is they will strike without warning, and issue account bans and market wipes where appropriate, all during a sudden emergency patch maintenance.

ONLY then will they ask Gina or Jessica to come in and issue a statement about what was discovered and what action was taken.

You are already playing on one. From the previous dupe exploit/Wrothgar fishing roe exploit/AP exploit (Where 3 days suspension to log back in to see all the motif pages in guild stores selling/Nothing was confiscated but the AP left in the players bank that they didnt spend).

The list goes on. ESO is being shamed by exploiters and Z0$ are clearly incompetent to deal with it, or even address the issue by not posting in the Cheating and Exploiting thread in ~9months.

And the people who think this is just buying up and reselling... Look at the numbers that are available on the two different servers. PC EU seems to have single people with more dust up for sale than the entire PC NA server has combined has at traders./

The economy on PC EU is trash, always has been.

I come from XB EU where flowers were 80K a stack, Temp alloys 15k a pop, Sharp Necro staves 800K+ at a time where elegant swords were 1M+ a pop.

Come back to PC and WOW everything is so filthy cheap, Botting aside a lot of this stems on PC from day 1, there was an item dupe glitch and a Gold dupe glitch, which enabled people to amass enormous hoards and then they buying low and selling high began...this was the dawn of it, ZOS never took any action on people exploiting the duplication glitch (believe me I know) Some of these people even transferred to consoles and that is how some certain GM's were always unbeatable with trading spots on XB EU in particular and then they dictated prices to members etc and it spiralled out of control.

But there is always gold to be made elsewhere that the bots and farmers cannot perform, EG Crafting writ vouchers and vendor items (work stations, Target dummies) But the day 1 exploiters can obviously do as...some of them have monster hoards of gold and supplies to make everything. I assure you a certain person didn't certainly find 200 Imperial motifs back in the day...They just weren't stupid to list them all at once and took their time to flog it all.

Like I say guys, this is most likely someone who has had all this stuff hoarded from back in the early days of the game when there was a horrible duping glitch (long since fixed), and has come back in an attempt to wipe out the PC EU markets by releasing the duped stuff he had hoarded for a very long while.

Also, what happens to those people that have already bought all this duped stuff off the traders at "knocked off" level prices?

Do they get punished? ZOS have already said they cannot remove individual items from a players inventory, they way the DB works would make it a LOT of hard and manual work - literally scanning the DB line by line through multiple players inventories, then manually removing the offending lines from the DB, THEN having to recompile the DB's. This is almost DAYS of work during which time that entire DB has to be offline whilst the work is done. Its simply not feasible.

Cos you, RIGHT NOW, can go to the stores (plenty of them), buy OBVIOUSLY duped items for ABSURDLY low prices, and not being afraid to get punishment for this.
And after all screams would be shuttled down, all "I quit" threads are closed, start reselling early bought stuff for any price you want, making millions of gold on the empty space. Or creating consumables from duped mats and selling that consumables.
