I remember a while back, someone was complaining on the forums that he couldn't complete the first stage of vMA despite having spent so much on getting max-level 9-trait legendary gear. As it turns out, he was using Armor Master and was running vMA with the stats of a no-damage tank.

OP, you basically just died in a fair(? You said 1v1?) fight. You being higher level doesn't make you stronger(until 160+ cp, after which yes, it does), you having decent(? Hard to say without knowing sets and stuff) gear doesn't have to mean auto-win - he could be geared just as well or better even, and more importantly he could easily have more PvP experience and skill than you. 0
