Again, different people have different priorities and different things that give them enjoyment in the game. Not you, not anybody, can determinate what is relevant and what is not for the entire player base. What you find important, others might find irrelevant, too.
To some folks, you get more enjoyment about having an awesome mount/pet/costume and looking just right as you adventure than any type of max level or BiS gear. If they put the BiS gear behind there, I bet plenty would be mad (as they should), but many would also have less to complain about (those who don't care about BiS super powerful gear)
TL;DR - Opinions on crown crates vary; but if you want your opinion to carry merit with ZOS, it helps to express it in a civilized manner.

I bought an expansion that was nothing more than a dlc. All this time I haven't complained about spending rlm on this game, until now. I play how I want and my priorities are different from yours, so while they may be cosmetic to you, it's part of the experience for me and others like me. I would never tell anyone what they should or shouldn't be upset over, everyone has a different focus.

Not exactly sure what items that "all the sheep with nostalgia glasses for Morrowind" would want. And I'm one of the "sheep" apparently. About the only thing that would be "nostalgia glasses" would be if they had a giant walking dwemer crossbow. Those were outside one of the dwemer ruins in the original version. I admit I'm still having fun and finding stuff linking the single player original Morrowind to Zos's version.
I have senche and cats issues. They are worse than pokemon for me. I have no willpower when it comes to the senches and cats that are for outright sale in the crown store. I would like to add the dwemer versions of the senche and wolf, but as long as they are clown crate only I won't do that. I do not want to show any support for exclusive items in the clown crates.

I don't know how people can be surprised by sleazy cashgrabs in a game where the developer intentionally makes a broken inventory system and then tells you they can fix it if you cough up a monthly fee. That basically a mob-style extortion racket and in my opinion far sleazier than anything they do with loot boxes, but since people put up with it of course they're going to keep pushing the limits. I don't think they really plan this game to be around for the long haul, so they're milking the rubes for all they're worth while the going is good.
Yes, the wording implies the "special" mounts aren't normal clown crate items.
In addition to the Apex rewards listed above, you may also reveal one of these very rare mounts, which are currently only obtainable as a reward from a Dwarven Crown Crate:
Adamat Dwarven Horse, Ebon Dwarven Senche & Vitrine Dwarven Wolf

Considering the rng for normal clown crates, the "very rare" will probably be even more astronomical rng odds to get.
The "chapter" could have been Elsweyr, or Blackmarsh and I would have still bought it. Expansions/new areas, new quests, a new class...ThePaleItalian wrote: »ThePaleItalian wrote: »Yet all the sheep with the nostalgia glasses for Morrowind will buy them up.

Yes you are. You paid 40$ for a "chapter" and you know why, because it was Morrowind. You know, the DLC with half the map unavailable, half the buildings and ruins you cant enter, but hey at least battlegrounds are working right?

That's, like, "vacation in Paris" amounts of money. No, ZOS. Just no. This whale is not interested in your blatant whale-bait.
Someone needs to tell upper management--or whoever is making these decisions--that player goodwill is KEY to keeping people playing and paying, and cash grabs this absurd are going to test even the most loyal and forgiving of players.
Actually, I thought my logic was pretty sound. I provided further explanation above. But, this is somewhat of an example of the toxic tone you can get on these forums every now and again. Luckily, I am far too old to worry about getting insulted by anything on the internet.

I am all for people expressing their opinion, after all that is what I did. I took the issue at hand and expressed my explanation/opinion of why it is the way it is. I even provided a solution or end game, if you will, for issues that one might find not to their liking.
Continuing to complain, season after season, about the Crown Crates is not a solution. It is, rather, self-defeating.
ZoS is going to continue to do what they see fit with the Crown Store. End of story.

Just when I thought these crown crates couldn't be any more predatory, there are now hidden special mounts that are not under the listed rewards on front page, and thus not available for crown gems. If you go to Preview once clicking on the crown crates in store, you will see three additional mounts to the six Dwarven ones: Adamant Dwarven Horse, Ebon Dwarven Senche, and Vitrine Wolf (spelling might be off, going from memory). These do in fact exist as part of this crown crate season, I saw someone already lucky enough to have one.
I do not recall hidden special mounts in any of the previous crown crates seasons. ZO$ keeps coming up with new and improved ways to take advantage of those with gambling issues and/or who are mount collectors. Being able to buy the apex mounts outright with crown gems if you failed enough times at getting one was somewhat acceptable, but for there to be these hidden special mounts that are only available through RNG? Just sickening - a new low in the cash grab effort.

To be clear - I'm noy complaining about every season of crown crates, I have never liked the idea but have participated because the previous version have allowed for a defined, if variable, end point where you have obtained sufficient gems to buy all wanted rewards.
This 'season' is different in that they have removed the finite spend. There is also no clear explanation on what happens were you to gain a second duplicate ultra-apex mount - do they give you one of the other 2 or do you effectively lose your golden ticket and get a few dozen crown gems which would make getting all 3 a huge rng.
I have willingly bought 4, 5 or 6, possibly more sets of the first two season because I wanted the mounts but this, to me, seems just a step too far.
And I am rather surprised you feel insulted as the intent was simply gentle mockery but it is possible for these things to come across wrong especially on a board with speakers of many languages.

If BiS gear were available any other way except through the game people would be upset. Gear changes game play mounts do not. What you ride doesn't have any affect on other players in the game. A top notch sword could.
You see, you are assuming people play the game the same way as you, and that they give value to the same things you do. This assumption is false.
A cosmetic item can very well change someone's enjoyment of the game, and that is game-changing enough to make this kind of people upset.
Yeah, this poster gets it... I collect the mounts, I don't know why, I don't use more than 9 at a time (you know... 1 per character)... but I have done that since the game came out and even with the past two seasons of crates I have sucked up the cost to get them because the costs were finite. With this lot I just don't know if I can do it... or if I want to do it...
And you know... once I have missed 1,2 or 3 mounts from my collection it is no longer complete so for season 4 crates or the next 4k kagouti reskin the question becomes... 'why bother'? My collection will never again be complete so the motivation to keep working on it goes and the chances are ZOS end up with less of my money... that's where too much greed always falls down sooner or later...

We are in EXACTLY the same boat. I have been playing since day 1 and have EVERY mount AND pet in the game to date (not including dwarven crown crate items, which I am conflicted about buying due to the new issue of special mounts that you can't get with crown gems). When crown crates first came out, I was pissed because now I have to (to continue my collection, I know I'm not forced) gamble for all the mounts and pets that I would just rather buy outright. I sucked it up to continue my collection, knowing that at least I could buy them eventually with crown gems when I gathered enough from exchanging all the other crap they fill the crown crates with. Now, there are three that I just have to hope RNG gives me? No matter how much money I throw, there is still a chance at not getting them at all because they can't be bought with crown gems. Crown gems were ZO$'s bandaid to covering how disgusting and predatory this practice is, now they ripped it off and it is oozing.
With the thought of never being able to complete and continue my collection due to these new hidden/special mounts locked in the crown crates, why even bother trying? ZO$ has hundreds of my dollars already, on top of being a sub since day 1 and having other DLCs and Morrowind. The only reason I bought new mounts and pets, and eventually crown crates, was to continue my collection. I only ride like three of the mounts and use a few of the pets. It was purely for collection. Now that the collection will have to be based on RNG for completion, I have no desire to continue it or buy any future mounts and pets. That is a complete halt of ZO$ cash flow in the crown store from me, which was a considerable amount. If that is the same for other loyal collectors out there, they are going to be losing way more with this decision than gaining.
