Hidden "Special" Crown Crate Mounts

✭✭✭✭✭People need to get over the hate for crown creates. Every mmo that is b2p or f2p has them. If you don't like them then shut up and don't buy them. At least eso has no p2w Insta max lol or 80% of the game locked behind a pay wall like most mmos.
To some folks, you get more enjoyment about having an awesome mount/pet/costume and looking just right as you adventure than any type of max level or BiS gear. If they put the BiS gear behind there, I bet plenty would be mad (as they should), but many would also have less to complain about (those who don't care about BiS super powerful gear)
If BiS gear were available any other way except through the game people would be upset. Gear changes game play mounts do not. What you ride doesn't have any affect on other players in the game. A top notch sword could.and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."0 -

Yeah, this poster gets it... I collect the mounts, I don't know why, I don't use more than 9 at a time (you know... 1 per character)... but I have done that since the game came out and even with the past two seasons of crates I have sucked up the cost to get them because the costs were finite. With this lot I just don't know if I can do it... or if I want to do it...
And you know... once I have missed 1,2 or 3 mounts from my collection it is no longer complete so for season 4 crates or the next 4k kagouti reskin the question becomes... 'why bother'? My collection will never again be complete so the motivation to keep working on it goes and the chances are ZOS end up with less of my money... that's where too much greed always falls down sooner or later...GM - Malazan

This is absolutely disgusting if this pans out. I think it may be time to vote with my wallet ZoS.... i was okay with crates w/ gems but this has gone too far.
Either make them buy-able with gems or make it impossible to get duplicates and just remove gems.

Maybe you should get over the fact that there's people who want the items in them and would be more than willing to pay a premium for them in crowns directly instead of gambling for them. [snip]

I laughed when I read that - honeslty.
The only thing I went after was 1 costume I think but it was only because I hate how stupid my character looked with all this mismatching monster set stuff. Can't play this game looking ridiculous, but I've been that way in all TES games. At least in TES3 you could wear all the rare sets and just throw a robe over it.
Once transmog arrives I'll be good. But that might be a crown crate drop too

I hadn't seen the official website announcement yet, I was referring to the in-game featured announcement, my bad! But the issue is still the same, they are ultra rare and unobtainable through crown gems, which was ZO$'s bandaid to the overwhelming dislike towards the implementation of crown crates. They are RNG-only.

My concern is with the negative effect they have.
When they spend money making these things, they are not spending that money on other things. They are not developing new costumes. They are not developing new mobs, or zones, or dungeons, or anything else. All they are doing is spending money so that they can do nothing else with these items but put them into a Crown Crate. That's it.
How does that make ESO a better game? By funding the studio? Are they destitute? They can't make money selling the game? They can't make money on the rest of the Crown Store? ESO Plus? New Chapters? Is this why Rich Lambert cannot afford pants that go all the way down?

It's not the idea of contributing money that bothers me. I sub, I buy all mounts (it's my thing), I buy many of the other cosmetics 'cos I just get a kick out of my characters looking 'right' and I own a lot of the houses.
I've bought enough crates to have most of the apex mounts because I work in a job that allows me enough money to buy crowns - so while I think selling gamble crates is the moral equivalent of opening a bar in an AA meeting at least they have been finite because sooner or later you can get to the gem level needed to get what you want.
This change is the moral equivalent of selling smack on school playgrounds because there is no longer a finishing line for the spend and given the very very low hit rate for previous apex mounts it's a safe bet these are going to be even rarer with no way to build up the necessary gems.
And as someone who is probably the target of stuff like this I am offended - I have been more than generous to this game, I've just been stitched up for a new 'chapter' which doesn't even work yet and now you want even more of my money... I am so glad I don't have a gambling problem 'cos this is a cold and calculated attempt to prey on those who do and whoever came up with this and signed off on it should have a long hard look in the mirror...

One is to gain customer loyalty and respect by releasing quality products worth their price tag the other is to try and rip your customers off by any means possible. If you are unhappy with the system and the gambling, just don't get any, that way you won't have any bad surprises. But don't go in buying a single crate and expecting to be lucky enough to get all the rare stuff in that single and only crate unfortunately.1 -
