I'm sure some of these idea's are great and all, and I understand there's a need for fishing in game for some "realism" added. But for you OP, and all who love fishing soo much. Why not enjoy it more in RL? Get some sun, drink some...beverages LOL. I know it can be relaxing etc. but why even log in to game to just virtually fish pixeled digital...fish? Go do the real thing! It's summer!

I personally don't see the joy in it. I know some love it for achievements etc. About the only thing that would be cool is being able to get prize fish on a plaque for your digital home walls.

Funny, I was decorating my place with the new normal dungeon trophies and kept thinking "why didn't they make fish trophies?" Some pretty fish would look better mounted on the wall than giant spider heads, that's for sure! I'd like it if they could expand that to the 'Collector' achievements too, letting you stick the rare trophy drops like the Troll Skull or Mammoth Tusk on your wall/mantle. And I also wish pickpocket-able knickknacks would also be able to be placed as furniture if launded, but that's a pipedream, still want that 'well loved stuffed pony guar' on my bed anyway.

Anyway, on topic, ESO clearly has potential with its fishing system, I really like the bait system for different types of water, though I'd probably expand it to several different types of tackle for different fish, like using sinkers for catching fish in deeper waters. Basically Final Fantasy 15 ruined fishing in just about ever other game ever for me, because I loved the depth it went into.

Also I'd also like actual fishing equipment. Poles, lines, etc. Make them craftable and probably sell the best, non craftable one in the crown store with some materials you can only get through fishing, so there's sort of a progression. You need to catch the stuff to make the better stuff, to make catching the stuff easier, etc etc etc. It would make fishing less tedious if it seemed you were working towards something, even if it's something as inconsequential as fish biting 1% more frequently. If they added something like this, there wouldn't be a need for a whole new skill line, meaning having to dedicate a bunch of skill points to it (unappealing to me, since my near-Master Angler is also a master of all crafts, so my skill points are stretched pretty thin). Unless they make a general 'gathering' skill line and have fishing an aspect of that, which I wouldn't argue with either.

Also also, I'd actually like maybe a fisherman exclusive boss or two. Maybe a world boss that requires a lot of people fishing in one big, specific spot? I thought it was super neat in Serpent Shrine Cavern, back in the day, fishing up that big raid boss. Plus, fishing up a giant slaughterfish boss, or a werecroc, or even just a really disgruntled Argonian would be hilarious.

I don't fish for real because I won't kill anything unless it is pixelated. I, also, don't like the summer heat so I stay indoors and play. Some days I feel like dungeon runs. Other days I feel like questing and adventuring. And some days I feel like the peacefulness of fishing. Also, I like the gold from the perfect roe and I try to get all achievements.

More cues on when to reel in.
Maybe make it more like fishing in the LEGO games, simple but still fairly fun.
The closer to the cue you get, the better the chance of getting a rare fish, maybe?

This topic gives me an idea for a dlc for fishing. Introducing DEEP SEA FISHING! Go out on a sea vessel to search for even rarer, perhaps even more dangerous fish. Maybe even have an island with a bunch of nice, scenic fishing spots. Perhaps a housing function for people who love to fish?

    Fishing definitely needs an upgrade.

    Any kind of upgrade.

I really like all these ideas except #7....the last thing I want to do when fishing is fight. I already have to wade though crocodiles and horvers every 5 feet at some spots. lol

But yes, I would love to see fishing made more robust. After getting Master Angler, I don't really feel there's enough incentive to ever cast again...perfect roe is nice, but I want more reasons to fish.

on the other hand an implementation such as this would hit the bots right where it hurts. Imagine

@Alchemical - While fishing you can occasionally fish up mounted fish. There's actually 5 fish that are furnishings. Small Fish, Medium Fish, Large Fish are blues, Trout and Salmon are purples. They are sellable/tradeable. Take a look in the Guild Stores for them to purchase.

A better idea of how to fish in the first place would be nice.

All I get is used bait.

There's a Food item that identifies holes for you. You can also look up maps - or if your're lucky enough to be on PC, of course - there's an add-on for that.

I hadn't seen the Trout before, but I do have the others. I meant something a little more majestic, you know, like the /actual trophy fish/ you need to catch for the Master Angler. That's a heck of an achievement, and the title isn't very prestigious sounding.

@PlagueSD - I've fished up dozens of most of those trophy's, even a couple of the Coral Crown, but I haven't seen the purple Bass and Perch at all. Guess I'll have to keep fishing!

@Alchemical - I agree it would be nice to be able to mount up some of the rares for the wall. Especially the Crab-Slaughter-Crane Fish!

I liked the mechanics of fishing in Okami. That would be awesome to play in ESO. Just standing there waiting for the prompt and an animation to happen is...well, boring. Fishing doesn't need to be boring.
