I love these addons. Mostly not even for me, mostly for others.
I run with guildees alot and am willing to trade/share. I don't care to stick around at the end of a dungeon checking traits on everything just to find out someone wants it. With this addon they can see I got it "Hey are you working on that set?" "nope, here you go" and away we go.
If you don't want to share, say no. If you want to get rich, ask a ridiculous amount of money.
What I find absolutely mind boggling is the fact that such addons are considered just plain evil, but the situation they try to mitigate (the need to farm for stuff) and the reason they exists (helping in said farming of stuff), no, that's just fine and dandy...
Why would you want to remove tools to alleviate something that is almost universally recognized as cancerous ?
Running dungeons and communicating with other players is cancerous?

2. Any "trade demand" is an act of interaction I did not ask for. If I will want to trade I will link my items in chat. That's invitation to trading, nothing else. Why should I think about response why I do not want to trade with somebody? This is natural to do not want to trade with strangers. Otherwise I will link items blah, blah, blah.
3. I deconstruct items I do not need. If they are treasures for somebody it is even more enjoying. Farm harder for them, not my problems. Gold means nothing in this game anyway. I was farming for my gear and never asked for loot sharing. (And I have disabled the part of LUI Extended which allows you to see group loot).
"MMO" means "Massively Multiplayer Online" and that acronym applies to games.
Let me put this in a more detailed way :
- "Massively" means that you get to play not only with friends but also with strangers
- "Multiplayer" means that you get to interact with people and that they get to interact with you, whether you've asked for it or not.
- "Online"... well, irrelevant here, it's just what makes the "Massively" and the "Multiplayer" possible
- and, last but not least, "Game". Which means that people are there to have fun and relax.
While none of it strictly implies that you MUST interact with others if you don't want to, it allows nonetheless other people to TRY and interact with you without your prior approval. They don't deserve to be treated badly (and ignoring is quite an agressive response) just for talking to you.
You're of course entitled to be who you are and to play how you want, even to enjoy other people's frustrations. There are people like that. However, I wonder if you wouldn't be better off in a bunker with 6-months food stocks and a copy of Skyrim and The Witcher 3. They're both amazing games, with guaranteed NO INTERACTION whatsoever with that major annoyance called "other people" ;-)
1."Multiplayer" just means "not single player". Nothing about interaction. Other conjectures are wrong.
3. And stop speaking like loot-looking addons are natural part of the game please. They are not. Completely not. And users of this kind of addons deserve to be treated badly.
3. If I can make comfortable environment in multiplayer game by ignoring unpleasant people why should I go back to old singleplayer games? The amount of loot-lookers is low anyway. At least most of them are polite enough to not to ask for loot by whispering.
4. Until TESVI will be released I'll stay here anyway.
Dungeon loot sharing was created for sharing loot with friends, not strangers in PUG.
I'm a healer too (also as tank and DD) and I would never do such crazy antisocial stuff.I'm a healer, and If I find someone is using that in the middle of a dungeon because they ask "Hey, can I have that Sword of Mighty Stabbyness you just picked up?" I will drop the group. Sure that may be a crappy thing to do, but you know what else is crappy thing to do? Spying on people's stuff.
I'm not antisocial. I just don't like greedy people. That's exactly what it is. A tool for greedy people.

Frankly I'd like to look at this another way, and suggest perhaps you are greedy. Think about it.

That's exactly what a greedy person would say

Haha. Great response, but what about the poor DPS that probably waited 30 minutes? I have 1 tank 1 healer and 3 dps so I know them feels.
Ok, all of you convinced me. Now I will ask 50k for each item loot-looker wants.
Maybe now I will be OK with this addon.
It does feel a little intrusive especially when the game was designed specifically to avoid this issue.
Why ZOS allows this in the API when their own game development took a direction opposite still confuses me.
Still as annoying as it is, just block those who pester and don't understand that no means no. If they give you actual abuse for it then report them for it.

Honestly, I could care less. I'm just on the forums because I'm doing laundry and bored, and arguing is kind of fun. HAHA
Wait, that's called trolling isn't it? *hangs head in shame*
In all seriousness though, is it really so bad hanging out at the end of a dungeon for a minute talking about loot and stuff?
If someone asks you for the item and you don't want to give it to them, just say no. If you're uncomfortable with saying no to someone then that's your problem.
...should be banned!
i'm seriously annoyed and i don't find it the least bit funny when other players keep pestering me (sometimes to the extend that i simply HAVE to block them) about items i just looted of a dungeon boss or from a dolmen chest. there is a reason you can not see what loot other players got and no one has the right to use an addon to snoop around in other peoples bags!
Well, to begin unless I am mistaken, no add-on allows another player to 'snoop around in other peoples(') bags!' The add-on allows one to see what was just looted, not peruse someones inventory.
i'm not interested in any reasoning why one should see what others got from a boss or why this would help or whatever else. i don't want anyone to be able to see my loot and i don't have to accept someone using an addon to go through my things.
if you want a certain item you can ask in advance if you may have it in case someone loots it. and if someone does and doesn't want to give it to you then that's his/her good right. period.
Being close-minded regarding the usefulness of said add-on, and posting such an angry thread speaks volumes about your sociability; you may want to reconsider playing MMO's if such items drive you to such annoyance.
and to anyone who does use these addons - how dare you? HOW F-WORD DARE YOU?!
