addons that show what loot other players got...

...should be banned!

i'm seriously annoyed and i don't find it the least bit funny when other players keep pestering me (sometimes to the extend that i simply HAVE to block them) about items i just looted of a dungeon boss or from a dolmen chest. there is a reason you can not see what loot other players got and no one has the right to use an addon to snoop around in other peoples bags!

i'm not interested in any reasoning why one should see what others got from a boss or why this would help or whatever else. i don't want anyone to be able to see my loot and i don't have to accept someone using an addon to go through my things.
if you want a certain item you can ask in advance if you may have it in case someone loots it. and if someone does and doesn't want to give it to you then that's his/her good right. period.

and to anyone who does use these addons - how dare you? HOW F-WORD DARE YOU?!

I use an addon that does this, but most the time people I run with post what they get in chat anyway, I dont care if you run it and see my loot, If I get something epic then I'd rather let them see my epic loot

And if I have no use for it and they need it I'll happily trade them

It does feel a little intrusive especially when the game was designed specifically to avoid this issue.

Why ZOS allows this in the API when their own game development took a direction opposite still confuses me.

Still as annoying as it is, just block those who pester and don't understand that no means no. If they give you actual abuse for it then report them for it.

I never got the point of this add-on.

Ask in chat if anyone found the item you need. If no one responds, it means they didn't or if they did, they don't want to trade it.

Oh that discussion again. Inb4 "intruding mah privacy" posts. I think that function is really helpful. If someone is a jerk about loot he will be regardless.

Also, as I understood the previous discussions and the input from addon makers, it's not exactly easy to remove the broadcast from the API. Game needs to know at least who got which loot.

I use one of those add-ons.

I agree it feels quite intrusive. But on the other hand, they're so handy.

I prefer someone asking me once if I may trade this sharpened viper dagger i just looted... rather than having people shouting in group chat all dungeon long "don't forget I'm looking for sharpened viper dagger"...

I use the addon for a truckload of other features, the ability to see other people's loot is just an extra.

The game's API allows it, deal with it.

Let's see. You came to forums to qq and said you are not interested into reasoning? Go back to reddit.

Addons that show other's ppl loot to someone work only if grouped with ppl. From what you wrote, you are

unable to find ppl that understand simple no
one of these game breaking lag creating 24ppl dolmen zerglings.

In both cases, the joke is on you.
Also, these addons are not cheating tools such is miat's or similar, it simply tells you that XX from your group got Y loot. It is ment to be simple solution, helping trading in group without ppl linking stuff after each boss fight or similar. As you stated, no one is forcing you to trade, so what is the big deal? Word of advice - L2Forums/L2Behave/L2Play.

I don't really care about this, I offer up what I am willing to give away after the last boss is dead, and what I will and will not offer up is not something that will change due to input from anybody else.
I have 6 kids, nobody is going to wear me down by whining, the add-on is useless as far as it pertains to me and my loot.

You don't know it, but the addon will also reach into your bags and steal it.

Dont play with randoms then. Randoms can be very... random and they might pester and harass you for any reason or no reason at all. If you pug, you should keep that in mind. If you are that senstitive, its better to join a friendly casual guild.
The addon is very useful, I dont have to keep track of my loot (I usually play as support and dont need dd sets).

Btw dolmen farmers like you ruin my experience and immersion, because my fps drops when I'm near the zerg, but does that mean that dolmen grinding should be removed from the game?

You don't know it, but the addon will also reach into your bags and steal it.

Sure, it's your loot, and you can do with it whatever. What I meant was: If people decide to be jerks and pester someone for loot, they're going to do it, addon or no. If someone gets loot I want I ask politely if I could have it or what the price you would be willing to part with it is. If people are not asking politely than that's not an addon problem.

With all the tedious gear-grind this game have, those addons are a blessing. I Think as long as someone ask politely there´s really no issue with this addon. Can agree that it can be a Little irritating sometimes (like when you farm nMoL and get a sharpened moondancer sword....boiiiiii did I get a lot of whispers that time xD) but a simple "No, I need it", "no trade" etc.... is all that it takes.

And if OP doesn´t want reasoning after making a forumthread then you might be doing it wrong.

I would probably have kept that sharp mace of Knight-Errant's if it weren't for that person who saw it dropped but then again I could also just say "no" when he asked.

I use LUI extended and get the functionality of seeing loot. I never ask others for their stuff if they don't link it in chat. I really like to keep track of my own loot and now I can even see the trait in the chat.

I don't have a problem with the addon. People who ask for your drops tend to be humble about it and even offer coins or a trade. Sometimes I want to keep the stuff and I have never been pestered for it.

Exactly, sometimes people I'm in group with don't know that I'm looking for that specific piece, and they're like "really ? you want this ?", so don't bother linking it in chat.

If you're being harassed in chat by anyone, /ignore is you friend. That's not limited to loot, people can decide to pester you for w/e reason, will you be come to the forums to complain about that too ?

Most of us use it in trials, and we don't have to bother linking pieces in chat, because we can see what dropped the moment it's been looted.

Then, again, most of us can accept a "Sorry, mate, need it too", so, again, /ignore is your friend.

Heres what i do. Normally i offer whatever i got in a run after the final boss is defeated, but if someone uses one of those addons and asks to get something from me before i even offer it to group i say "No, i dont deal with peeping toms" and put them on ignore. And thats really the best thing you can do until such addons are banned. Ignore em

I do not share my loot in dungeons. Never. So I do not care if somebody looks at it. This is my loot. And I will deconstruct it for materials. And if you are going to whisper me for my loot - you are going to ignore list.

My guildmate created an addon for this, it makes stealing-based guild-events possible

And this feature is handy in trial-runs, where I don't always have to link my unwanted loot, but I get whisper about them. And even I'm happy if I can give something valuable to my mates

Dear Mr. @EvilCroc ,

For your information, ESO is an MMO. It means that people are meant to play together as a natural feature of the game, and share/exchange/trade loot and any needed items, which makes for a lively, vivid community and ingame "life".

If you do not wish to trade or share your loot, this is your right. However, you should not overreact to a trading demand : it is part of the game and is genuine ingame behavior done in good faith. If you say "no" and people insist, you might consider putting that person on ignore, but until then, those people are just playing the game normally by offering you to share loot.

I might also bring to your attention that deconstructing a looted item without even looking at it does not always turn out to your advantage. One man's junk can be another man's treasure, and it someone wishes to pay you tens of thousands of gold for your piece of loot, why would you deconstruct it instead ?

I hope that these few lines will help you understanding better the ways things can go in an MMO.

My very first dungeon, some guy with this add-on completely went off on me because I got something he was farming for for hours. I didn't even notice he was talking (a lot) until I left the dungeon. The last thing he wrote was pretty brutal, so I just reported and ignored.

At the time, I was level 16, so whatever I looted could not have been worth the effort this guy put into bugging me for it, and inevitably cussing me for not trading it to him.

It doesn't matter if it's this add-on, or something else, rude people will be rude.

If you don't want to share - don't share. I think this addon must be included in basegame. When I see somebody looted item I need i just write it like "hey, can you sell me that belt for 20k?" And then everybody suddenly happy

The other day in game some one talked to me. I was so uncomfortable. I ended up locking myself in my room with the lights off for three days. I hate these addons. It shows me other people's loot I am afraid to ask about, and then other people talk to me about my loot.
