my single biggest frustration with housing has actually been almost entirely personal - they just didn't build a home in the places I wanted one...
Not interested.
I don't play this game to be an interior decorator.
My trusty Brown Paint Horse's saddle's my home.
Must say Im surprised by the results so far on the poll. First I didn't think so many weren't interested in houses, then I also didn't know so many had such ridiculous amounts of gold able to afford all the more expensive houses. Not saying Im poor, Im about the average player gold wise. But it has to be a very good house for me to basically spend every coin I got on it.my single biggest frustration with housing has actually been almost entirely personal - they just didn't build a home in the places I wanted one...
@phermitgb That I can agree with. Id sink everything I have into an awesome Imperial house in Cyrodiil. Like idk a villa by the gold coast outside Anvil, a mansion by Cheydinhal. But I can understand considering the state of Cyrodiil the lack of houses there. Blasted Daedra blew them all up. x.x
There are 3 small apartments that are very easy to get, one quest and your done...
There are some people who had more than enough gold to buy all 3 manors on day 1, and furnish them. (And furnishings/blueprints were crazy expensive at first.) I think that's mainly people who focus on trading, and farming stuff to sell.
Then there's other people who farmed and/or saved up because they really wanted one, either because they liked it or just because they wanted the biggest/most expensive house or wanted the title. Oh and some people had unused crowns from subscribing and/or were willing and able to spend real money to get them.
I'm guessing ZOS had plenty of data on players available gold/crowns and willingness to spend when they created housing. I think they did a good job of offering a range of prices to suit everyone. The only problem is if you're one of the people who really wants a house that costs far more than you normally have. But that was me and I managed to save up the gold in a few months.

If I want housing I'll go back to EQ2, Rift or WildStar where it's at least much better and actually useful/functional. This housing system is a joke and until they at least add storage I won't go near it.

It was definitely worth the time previewing them in game, videos are good, but no substitute.
Actually, there were house and decorating player made mods for TES3 Morrowind, well before Oblivion.
Also the way Morrowind's justice system worked it was entirely possible to simply move into an "unused" house - only the owner would object so if they weren't around there was no problem.
One of the early fighters guild quests involves killing an orc who lives in Balmora so I always did that early on and then moved into their house. Bit morbid maybe, but it worked. Certainly better than carrying my book collection everywhere with me.

The RP community that I knew is gone.. and now housing is introduced.
Too little too late.
