Penetecostal monday - on our side of the world, in North American, its called Whit Monday but nobody except extremely fundamental religious people celebrate it. It's nowhere near in the league of Xmas where its expanded to be a social and commercial holiday - Whit Monday is still 100% religious, that's why we don't observe it. It would be like expecting ZOS not to do maintenance on Good Friday, Ash Wednesday or a million other trivial religious holidays. Should we stop maintenance all through Ramadan as well? Where does it end?

Why shouldn't a global company, offering a global product played by a global membership, be aware of issues beyond their own national borders?
Yes, Morrowind has been lined-up for release for a while now, but why didn't they give that release date a little more consideration? Those national holidays have been in place for a bit longer than ESO has been in business
A bit of forethought would have avoided this problem, and guess what... nobody would have complained about a release date one week later.
Particularly if ESO had used that extra week wisely fixing bugs...
It doesn't affect me because we don't have that holiday in the UK, and I have early access to Morrowind in any case, but I see no reason to get all bent out of shape because other people aren't happy about the timing. Why so angry?

I'm not angry - I did edit my response to your to explain this - I just think it's pathetic somebody is going to sit there and call an entire company "low" for not observing their holiday - why are you playing devil's advocate?

As for Ramadan - kind of showing your ignorance there. It isn't a "holiday", people carry on with their normal lives, working, studying, etc. It's just refraining from certain practices during the day - in particular fasting from dawn to dusk.

I don't know how else to explain this to you - but the main HQ being in America, makes it an American company still. Having branches in other countries is a must - it doesn't take away from the fact that its an American company at the end of the day - and be real, the development happens in the US - the people working on the game actively are in the US, so they go by their own holidays.

If Islam had cultural ties to the US and Europe beyond a few wars of conquest 600 years ago, maybe that would be a point of discussion. But in this timeline, Christian based holidays are a thing and pretending they don't or shouldn't exist isn't going to change the effect on the client.
OP is right to complain. To give an example, the company I work for is stationed in one country, but provides service to almost all of Europe, and guess what we do. We have a list with all the bank holidays of the countries we service, and if it's a bank holiday in our country, but not in the country we're assigned to, we come to work on our holiday just for them. Client-oriented service: crazy, right?
In ZOS's case, it would be vice versa - not fiddling with the backend when the country is on holiday and people want to play the game.
In either case, you pay attention to the holidays of the country you're providing services to, and adapt accordingly. Christian holidays happen to be a thing in the western world, and often lead to bank holidays. Who'da thunk it, right? Why say that branches in other countries is a must if you don't make adjustments to those countries needs?
What you refuse to address is that with a little foresight they could have set the release of Morrowind to be one week later. Nobody would have cared, nobody would even have known. It would have upset nobody and would not have caused the annoyance that some will experience. Less pressure on the developers, more time to fix bugs.
A win-win solution that, purely because of lack of foresight, they miss out on. A moment's thought in the planning division would have avoided this.
As I said, it makes no difference to me, but clearly it does to some. And you don't have to be a genius to see how they could have avoided this.
(Also, and I won't get into this here, they usually show a lack of interest - to put it politely - in the EU playerbase. This isn't the first instance of a lack of consideration to people not in North America.)1 -

It's called Remembrance day here in Canada... and they observe it for the exact same reason. There's nothing insulting about it - the day, November 11th, marks the day an ARMISTICE was signed - most of the world knows about it, its called the Treaty of Versailles.
(Insert name calling and flaming here) - you don't even know the history of the World Wars, yet here you are insulting the names of holidays. That ARMISTICE is what ended the Great War. You just shamed each and every veteran of your country, good job.

actually we also do that, and even lot of places have fairs for this holiday (atleast in my country)
what u may not know it that the maintaince hours since they do them at same time as the us one, if for lot of eu places later on the day ,u know the time u get home from family /friends / fairs and when u wanna play some eso cuz u have to work the next day
edit~ tbh i (and would quess most ) would not have complain about this if they didnt switch maintaince day for Memorial Day last week
