Seijūrō Hiko, Kenshin Himura's master from the anime Rurouni Kenshin. Hajime Saitō, is another character from Rurouni Kenshin, but was a real person and one of the baddest samurai to ever live... or at least the stories tend to paint that picture.

Apparently a lot of ESO players are also anime nerds.

So far every name I've chosen in ESO has been available as far as I can recall. I even just got a one-name Khajiit as my new Warden, although I did use the S' prefix on it.

The only two names I've missed out on have been in GW2 -- Altdrag Splitstack as a reminder of how to divide items in inventory and Keyroy Jenkins for a weekly key run alt. Turned 'em into Altdragg and Jennkins and it worked fine.

It helps that I don't go for obvious modern cultural references or names popularized in media. I look for lore-appropriate names. The closest I've come to a modern reference is my Argonian Leaf-Over-Ants-Nest since that's how I heard the pianist Leif Ove Andsnes' name on the radio for a long time until I saw it written.

I tried making a character named Covfefe yesterday morning, but someone was quicker than me. So i named him Puny-Hands-Covfefe instead.

My Argonian thief is named "Leaves-No-Evidence"... but I wanted "Leaves-No-Trace" which was taken.
Now I think the name I have is better anyway.

I started playing the minute servers opened up for early access and 9 out of 10 names were taken. I got lucky with a few but mostly nonsensical but original words like "style" and the Morrowind ultimate weapon "chrysamere"

I rolled an Argonian for my Warden. I wanted to name him Walks In Ash, but it was taken. However, Walks In Dirt was not. Which I kind of like better anyway.

I think the only one I've tried that was taken was Holds-All-Things for an Argonian mule. I changed it to Holds-All-Stuff.

Otherwise I don't remember having a problem, even with the 3 characters who have one word names with no punctuation in them. It probably helps that none of my characters are named directly after characters from elsewhere (except my own RPG character in previous games) and apparently I think completely differently to other people when trying to come up with original names.

I have a sorc named "Hard Frags" on both xbox and pc so i think theyre platform specific.

Logged in the minute of early access wanting Maynard (as in Brother, for a healer) and it was taken, as were obvious modifications. Same with Tim as stated earlier. Fafhrd and Grey Mouser were taken (or reserved), but EnasYorl went through. That was also my EQ chanter which unfortunately doesn't transfer well here. I was surprised when I did get Fafhrd'Do for my Warden last week.

Khajiit wished to name her new warden kitten Aydane after someone she once knew in Middle Earth a long time ago yes.

However despite this name being totally made up it had already been taken.

The kitten she is now called Aydani.

This one has never had an issue with any of her other names., though she wishes it could be possible to check if the name is used before you have built the whole character around it yes.

Started at the early start, created a cool looking chick ... wanted to name her "Icy", but it was already taken so i took "Icy hot". Few days later some1 with "Icy" name xD whispers me and says that its a cool name lol. Still have some good names such as:

Force Unleashed
Miss Capslock
and saved 1 name for the future in NA server: Rocket Science
