I think you definitely should play how you want, however, dungeons you run in a group and your way of playing will effect them. Now if this was overworld content/pvp/solo dungeons, I would say, go right ahead.

But the moment you step into a dungeon, you have other people on your team, that perhaps, don't even like that dungeon, or they want to have a shot at a speed run for the achievement. If there is someone standing far away from the group spamming light attacks, out of range of a healer/tank tickling the boss/adds, that's not very supportive of the group you are in, right?

If you can do enough damage with a bow build comparable to any other dps player with a different weapon type, fine. However, most players cannot.

I would simply advise, in the spirit of team play, to have a different build when you are running dungeons in a group.

You can play how you want, however, you might want to also take other players into account when doing so and try being a little less selfish.

It is possible to have a viable bow/bow build, and backbar bow is definitely more than viable, but to be fair I have never seen it in a pug. I've run with a friend who was testing his bow/bow build and we did rom hm without too much issues, but every single time I see a bow/bow in a pug it's guaranteed 7k dps max AND running to the other end of the room and dying there out of the range of heals. I don't kick if I can carry, but it is what it is. Bow needs some love, and people choosing to spam snipe/light attacks in vet dungeons need to reconsider their builds a bit and understand that safe fun ranged damage that's good enough for killing open world mobs=/=viable for a vet dungeon.

This isn't really a factor for the discussion because, as stated in the video, here's the build:

Molag Kena monster helm and shoulders
Twice Fang Snake 5 piece
Alkosh/ VO - 3-piece
Sharpened maelstrom bow
Sharpened Master's bow

When I see the potato bow pugs using this gear in dungeons then you can start defending them. Not to mention anyone who owns a maelstrom sharpened bow knows better than to bring bow/bow to vet dungeons.

I own sharpened maelstrom bow (personally grinded again on bow) and I bring bow/bow to vet dungeons all the time. Not to mention those vet dungeons i solo grind...

Bow DPS is perfectly viable in Vet Dungeons. Stamina builds have tons of DOTs, so most of the damage will be coming from these anyways. And instead of using a DW skill as your spammable, you just use a bow skill. Similar DPS numbers.

Have You ever seen any potato pugs using BiS ?

If they suck they'll suck with any weapon type and wont get huge dmg increase by changing weapons..

That's my point. You can't get a maelstrom weapon if you suck. Therefore, if you own a maelstrom weapon, you don't suck so no matter what weapon type you choose it will still be fine.

I think their point was that a bad player would still be bad even if they were running dw/bow.

So, you missed the real point: "Experienced player" boss OP, takes months to defeat and even then he keeps getting tougher and tougher.
