Crown Store Research Scrolls have no Cooldown, is this intended?

Crown Store Research Scrolls, that reduce research times for blacksmithing/woodworking/clothing by 1 day have no cooldown. Is this intended? The counterparts buyable with Writ Vouchers have 20 hour cooldown as to prevent abusing them to instantly obtain status of master crafter in all traits.

The Crown Store riding skill books also have no cooldown. So it's probably intended.

As others have said I would imagine it's intended, so expect a large outcry of P2W posts when it goes live.

I can see why they did it, why pay real money for something if you can only use it once a day for the next 30 days?
Not sure how I feel about it though, as it does take an actual gameplay/time investment system and remove it from the game if you've got enough money.

Som will Say p2w but as of this update crafting is still extremely underperforming compared to drop sets and we still dont have jewlery crafting so it the long run just seems like alot of cash for nothing but a few dyes and an achievement..

When these scroll will be released on live server, it will pretty much conclude the process of turning crafting and title of "Real Master Crafter" into P2W discipline:

    - powerlevel blacksmithing/woodworking/clothing to lvl50 with gold earned by reselling mimic stones as rare style mats
    - buy all motifs with crowns either directly or with crates
    - max out all your research with crown store Research Scrolls that do not have any cooldown and let you go from 0 to 9 master crafter in a day

If you thought crafting in ESO was dead before Morrowind then after release it will reach a new level of being dead - waves of credit card crafters, all meaning behind title of master crafter taken away.

Oh jeez I hope not! People invested so many hours to become master crafters, and now everyone who has enough $$$ can buy crafting skills from Crown Store and be master crafter too!? :/

I can see why dedicated crafters are upset, but I think this is still a far bigger concern. After all, 2 things:

    1) You still need to find / acquire gear has the desired traits for research. I guess you could just buy everything, but I imagine it would be outrageously expensive and time-consuming.

    2) These scrolls aren't cheap, right? If each one takes a day off of your research time, can you imagine how many of them it'd take to get 9 traits in a day? We're talking thousands of dollars here. Not many players have that kinda cash.

For the most part, I only predict these being used for crafters who are researching a trait, need a day or 3 until the research completes, and for whatever reason need the research done ASAP.

    Sounds intended

Should not be IMO. I realize that things change over time, but I'd appreciate an EQUAL or better item being available in game, as that has been the case in the past.

[Edit] I don't think it's P2W, but believe an equal item should be available in game.

Well, in any situation where in-game competes with Crown Store, you know the Crown Store version is going to be better. The in-game version has to have hoops, red tape, miracles, and a minimum of 1000 in-game hours before some RNG has an even chance of coughing up what you need, and after all that, it will be inferior. Anything less and people will grind instead of buy. I'm all for them making money, but they do tend to get extreme.

Yeah... I'm not calling it P2W either, but this leads me to believe that they have thrown in the towel on crafted sets. I was hoping somewhere down the line that crafted sets would have more use than what they currently do. That there was a point to the long research times to becoming a 9 trait master crafter beyond the cosmetic.

Now though, you are jumping through hoops for an inferior item.

I wonder how much these are? It would take 315 of them to be able to research all the traits in one evening.

I think the master writ system is enough of a struggle to make the crown store scrolls viable without making the voucher version weaker. Plenty of people will still buy them from the crown store to avoid the writ grind.

Well, that really cannot be answered without details.

First, how many vouchers do these things cost? I have no idea and anyone who does cannot say. At least not in this thread.

Second, can the in-game research scrolls be used by anyone? Any character on the account? Can we sell or give them to other players? If not, then these are useful only for a player that has a level 50 crafter already doing Master Writs. The utility is reduced. Again, anyone who knows cannot say.

Third, will any Crown Store version have limits? Can it be used by any character on the account, in any quantity? Only the character that buys it? If treated like Riding Lessons, they will probably have a much greater utility than what they are selling from the Master Writ merchant, but will be limited to the character that buys it.

With the proper answers, we can know how attractive a Crown Store version would be. There could be no reason to bother spending vouchers on these things when Crowns can be used. If the cost and utility bias is favorable. That is exactly what they want, and what they want to hear.

The NDA on class balance changes got lifted, cost of Research Scrolls is also a balance matter but for economy, so i dont believe that how much something from base game vendor costs is such protected secret as it has nothing to do with Morrowind.
Anyways, the vendor bought Research Scrolls cost 3 (three) writ vouchers (which equals to about 4k gold on PC NA). They have 20 hour cooldown. They can be used by anyone, they can be traded and sold. They will reduce research time by 1 hour of all ongoing researches from certain field.
Crown store version have no cooldown and just like any crown store item its bound to character.

If they put them as the same price as the experience scroll, which is 300 (I think?), that would be 94,500 crowns. Even if they bumped it up to 500 per, that'd be 157,500 crowns, which translates to almost 29 5,500 crown packs, which would cost over $1,100USD. If someone would rather pay that much, by all means, have fun. I don't think it would take away from master crafters because the average person isn't going to shell out money like that to learn every single trait with them, or at least that fast. So I'd have no issue with no cooldown.

There is an other possibility, maybe this item is present in PTS only so people who use templates to be able to test crafted sets? I dont remember whether templates have all research done or not.

If template characters have 9/9 in all by defautl, my worries continue.

Yeah, this was the first bug report I filed on PTS. Having these scrolls at all is bad for the game, especially for those of us who considered crafting to be a core part of the game. We really are starting to blur the cosmetic and convenience line here. There is really no difference between this and buying ranks in Undaunted. If by "convenient", you mean "saves you time by not having to play the game", then yes, these scrolls do just that.

Oh and, the missing cooldown, yeah not even going to go there...

This is not my main forum account. I'm @fr33r4ng3r everywhere else but a mix-up meant I needed a new account for the beta forums...

@MaximusDargus PTS items are added to the templates, not the CS. Like the werewolf/vampire maxer. As well, they exist in game (writ vouchers) so that's another thing to look at when considering if they're pts only.
