considering some servers are online before others and that in general all platforms\zones are separated.
Why not have each Megarserver maintenance at a different time - like in middle of the night not in middle of the day.
People will tell you it's because of the client but I call BS on that.
WoW's Oceanic servers get different maintenance times and they use the NA client. Patch days are a different can of worms iirc, but not every maintenance is a patch or bug fix. Most of them are just server restarts.2 -

I mean we know Zenimax is an American company, and they only employ American people on their customer interface division. These Americans do not bother to respond to the EU questions, but do to the American ones.
When are our servers coming back Gina Bruno?
I have now lost 24 hours play in ten days, due to maintenance.

But I think when it was realised the game did not sell anywhere near forecast release figures (conjecture, but going on the negative feedback and reviews surrounding the release) combining the outages was a cost-cutting measure as it did not require US-based staff to be working in EU hours. Also, one has to consider the EU straddles many different time zones, so there'll always be some people unhappy with an EU mega-server outage window.0 -

Since when is inconveniencing and frustrating entire EU playerbase of a game once a week profitable? Didnt they think that some people may unsubscribe or stop playing entirely once sufficiently annoyed by this and other issues?2 -

I am sorry but after my first Month this is the second time Maintenance happens all day Especially in Europe!
If someone from @Zos Reads this i cancelled my sub!
Here are the reasons:
1)Maintenance done in Prime time for Europe
2)Extended Maintenance all time with your support being in touch with us but only in the last moment
Sorry but i like your game but not going to support you if you continue like that

Surely not me, with around 26 months experience dealing with them........
What does a technical problem have to do with incompetence?
And you also have no idea what the word "procedural" means. It does not mean what you think it does, so much is clear.
When almost all maintenance run into a 'technical problem' and extends the time it takes then it leans my thinking to an incompetent team. Witness this over ~26 months and i am convinced the team cant cope with whatever they are looking to achieve, defenitely from my standpoint as a consumer.
They have carried out work on there datacentres before. If there isn't a procedure in place for this, there definitely should be judging by how unsuccessful they are in meeting schedules they make themselves.

It needs to be done when it needs to be done. If things were going wrong and they left the servers live, all these threads and comments would be complaining about buggyness/glitches/connection issues. If the servers are so bad that maintenance needs to be done constantly, that's another issue entirely that I have not even tried to speak on/about.
