Forced PVP event

Balticthunder
Balticthunder
✭✭✭
There is this upcoming event on PTS, something like Midyear Mayhem, which is completely pvp content!
Why?
Me and many other people avoid pvp in this game like plague, now people are forced to Cyrodiil to complete this event and its achievements!
So whats next? Event which force you to join hardcore raiding guild to complete it?
Wasn't those game events were meant for fun? Why then you are forcing people now into specific gameplay to take part in your events?!

Edited
I already stated later in this thread that I posiblly misunderstood whole Holiday event concept of being only pve thing. I have nothing against pvpers having fun, so please stop with bashing me like I demand something or Im against pvp!

Seriously, if there is a PvP event then that's cool. It's kinda only fair the events are spread about the community. The Imperial City anniversary introduced alot of new players to Hybrid PvP and it was a good thing.

ALL other events have been PvE, and most not the type of content PvPers like. I.e. Repeated mundane quests. So this is only fair and will invigorate a part of the game

I'm mainly a PvEer to give context. Getting into PvP.

I would suggest to you to ether go on a dead server off peak if you want to sneak about to do the event - PLENTY of PvE in Cyrodiil. Or just give PvP a go, you might be surprised.

Lastly, at the end of the day you don't HAVE to take part. There are so many PvE events anyways

    Good luck either way!

Really? There is whole Achievement tab dedicated to this event under Holidays, same as all previous events had.
And new title if you complete all achievements.

So? There are a bunch of titles and achivements in the Alliance War section. If you are a completionist you need those to get 100%. Why should PvP not have fun events? No one is forcing you anymore than they are forcing people to do the stupid fetch quests from Jester and New Life festivals.

No problem if it is pvp event, like one before in Cyrodill, where you fought Molag Bal and what else was there, but this is meant Holiday event! Like new years or witches festival, which is meant for everybody!
So you will be completely fine if next Holiday event will be something like complete vMOL in 20 min?

Sure. I haven't looked at these PvP event achievements yet. Do they require you to be good? Or do you simply have to PvP? Unless they put some achievement in there that requires skill it isn't comparable. Anyone can go into PvP and zerg around and get credit for kills, keep captures etc... Not everyone can complete vMOL. However if the next holiday event said to complete a normal trial, I'd be absolutely fine with that.

But, yeah. If they do an event for the hardcore raiders, I'd be fine with that. I have plenty of things to do in this game, not everything needs to be designed for my personal interest and needs.

But as I said there are many people, who despise pvp and making event, which is meant fun event for everybody, but which force you into specific gameplay isnt fair. To be honest my old computer even cant run Cyrodill and those mass zergs, i got 10 fps out there, so there is no way for me or some other like me ever complete something there.

Also answers like : "' Don't like it, don't do it" will get us nowhere - whats the point of giving feedback or talk about problems, when : Don't like it, don't do it or don't like it, don't play it.

Lol, complains about a PvP event when 90% of events are PvE locked.

PvP NEEDS events to bring life to it, as of right now it's getting very stale. The IC anniversary event was honestly the highlight of my PvP experience in the past year. Having fresh blood roaming the city instead of the same cancerous builds or zergs was nice, and in IC any activity whatsoever aside from zerging is welcome. The double AP event was nice too, but that was an event that rewarded zerging so heavily that most people settled with 20 man groups.

I hope to see you there when this event rolls around, so I can kill you and drop the bag on your face for "avoiding PvP like the plague" :)

When you make events for "everybody" you have to make events like New Life and Jester festival. Those two holidays were really, really boring. Why do you think holiday events are meant for everybody? This years anniversary event was the best because it rewarded you for doing content that you wanted to do (as long as it was a daily) PvPers don't get much in the way of content. So an event for PvP is a good thing. People, might find that they like it, if not just wait for the next holiday.

And don't get me started on your old computer. It isn't ZOS fault that you have old hardware. Lower your settings to minimum and zerg around if you need the PvP holiday achievements.

The OP seems to trying to make a problem out of something that is not a problem. First off, it's on PTS so they're doing it to test things. Secondly the OP is making the mistake assuming that this "event" is meant for everybody. It's not, it's meant for PvPers. I'm mainly a PvEer and even I can see PvP need events for themselves.

I'm not against pvp events per se, make them as many as you like and enjoy your game out there.
But I see Holiday events as part of common storyline and thus pve thing, but now I'm forced to capture some keep in Cyrodiil along with huge zerg, just to get stupid achievement.
Right, I understand that ZOS aint going to change a thing here, but I still think that Holiday events are part of game pve story and I don't understand why they thought that forced us to pvp could be great idea.
Please do separate pvp events then, I'm fine with that.

I am a PvPer...90% of the time. I dont do undaunted/ raids/ arenas. I do not complain about fairness of rewards from PvE to PvP.
If there is a piece of gear, i decide to get it, i go to PvE to farm it, wash my dirty PvE hands and go back to PvP.

Regarding events, your trying to compare VETMOL, to cyrodil....*ROFL*....a level ten with no CP and decent gear can jump into cyrodil and compete, have fun, level, or be casual...you cannot be a level 10 with no CP and compete, have fun, level, or be casual in VETMOL...your comparison is way off.

If you want to compare PvP cyrodil to PvE you have to compare it to what it is similar to. And it pretty damn similar to basic overland content in terms of difficulty. For example. In cyrodil, as a lowbie new player, you find a zerg in zone chat and you surf it, you complete the objectives for cyrodil by zerging keeps, defending keeps. In overland content...how does a lowbie complete the boss challanges in zone? Well...if i were him, id find the zerg in zone, and go boss to boss to dolmen to delve and surf the zerg...see? These two are comparable. Not VETMOL.

VETMOL Is harcore VERY difficult content that takes knowing mechanics and such to have a CHANCE at completing...cyrodil is no such thing.

So having gotten all that out of they way, knowing what cyrodil competes to PVE content as, we can discuss whether or not an event in cyrodil is "ok" for zos to do.

So i gather you dont like being forced to go into content you dont like/ suck at to get achievements? Heh...i AGREE...but it is somthing i have been forced into for three years to get things...BASIC NEEDS like skill points (vast majority in overland, not counting 20-50 ranks in cryodil due to length of time required), skyshards, achievments, farming mats....this doesnt even include the GEAR which i spend most of my PvE time looking for.

Being that i hate PvE in ESO...guess what i DIDNT DO THIS PAST EVENT IN PVELAND? i didnt do the jesters festival...am i complaining about ZOS not making it something i can get from PVP? No...no im not you know why? Cause that would be idiotic. So why would you get mad about PvP content? NO DIFFERENT.

If you dont want to go to PvP land...then dont, dont get ur prescious achievements

PvPers deserve their slice of cake, they barely get anything as is. You are trying to make an issue out of nothing, no one is forcing you to partake in the event, only you are. Just play it casually, you can do all the event achievements in a couple of days anyway. I'm a PvE player and I'll be doing it, because why not?

"This event is celebrated by Imperial priests of St. Alessia every summer in commemoration of the Whitestrake’s slaughter of Elves at the Bridge of Heldon."

It's a "holiday" celebrating a victory in battle. I'm guessing the use of the word holiday is what's confusioning/upsetting to some PvEers. It's not a holiday in the normal sense, it's a PvP event like the double AP event a few months ago was.

I believe HOLIDAY events are part of pve story line, they are events celebrated in Tamriel by its inhabitants and we as a players take part in them and that's why I'm upset that new HOLIDAY event is out of nowhere pure pvp thing!

If it is out on PTS with full achievement tab and title, it is 99% that it will stay that way. Same as with Jester, new year and witches festivals, when they were introduced on PTS.
Also please spare me this pvp nonsense like Im some weekling, who plays only stupid pve and you are big, tough pvp guys - I said my comp cant run Cyrodiil and its zergs and im long past that age when I need to prove my big e-peen to someone.

As someone who mostly does PvE and dabbles a bit in PvP, quite frankly I can't take this post very seriously.

It's good that they introduce some different holidays, I can only grind the same 5 fetch quest for an RNG box so many times before my eyes bleed.

We already had 3 PvE festivals with fetch quest dailies and grinds, having something else that involves a little PvP activity is a great addition. It's only for titles and costumes anyway, and the rewards you get in the boxes are aimed towards PvP anyway, and stuff you buy with AP. If you're not interested in that, just don't participate in the event.

Personally I believe it is good for the game to introduce more casual players and non-pvp'ers to pvp such as imperial city, cyrodiil and battlegrounds. We need more 'regular' and normal people there, it's severely limiting to only have 100 % pro pvp'ers in such an environment, and I appreciate this attempt to mix up the pvp and pve crowd - there are actually some of us who enjoy doing both.

i have always been forced into the PVE events that i did not want to do. seems unfair.
but now there is finally a PvP event ? AWESOME! :) Finally!

    i would like to add:

I can say the same thing about pve. Why I need to do pve to get my PvP set? Why I had to do a Pve event like jester festival to get my bis PvP drink?
    and also:
why do we have to do PvE to get the passives for undaunted that are needed in PvP.
    and also:
i have always been forced into the PVE events that i did not want to do. some of them seem unfair.

This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

Your complaint should be focused on the event's achievements which require you to purchase the Imperial City and Morrowind in order to complete them all. The game play angle is not as easy to use as a base for your position given the PVE element of the prior four events and the preference some have for Cyrodiil centered game play.

Not like most of the other holiday events are 100% pve content. God forbid you have to experience the other half of the game, around which eso was originally designed, and be exposed to a little competition. Get over yourself.

You do realize literally every event thus far has been PvE, right? I mean unless you count how awesome Bruma and such were for the Mid Year Jubilee but even then I had people who I killed in Cyrodiil whispering me to complain that ZOS should have shut off PvP for the event.

Like, I don't want to be that girl, but come on. There are more player bases than just PvEers and honestly PvPers have been an afterthought and with how this chapter is coming out with fresh PvP content for like the first time in forever, maybe it's nice for us to get an event too?

Your complaint should be focused on the event's achievements which require you to purchase the Imperial City and Morrowind in order to complete them all. The game play angle is not as easy to use as a base for your position given the PVE element of the prior four events and the preference some have for Cyrodiil centered game play.

You are right, but if, as someone said, those holiday events have no deeper meaning in game lore and are created out of thin air to just vary gameplay, then I am quite dissapointed :/
I thought they are like equivalents to celebrations we had in real life, but only now in Tamriel and defined by its lore and traditions, like those festvities similar in WOW, but if not, then I dont know if I care anymore.

But this one is based on a massacre of elves!@Publius_Scipio will be overjoyed.

I did everything for the one event that gave the Magnanimous title, but I haven't participated in the other holiday events. I'm happy to finally get a PvP and IC oriented one!
