I am more into looking at what others have done than doing myself. I'm not always where I can play the game but I can get on forums and youtube almost all day. I'm a fan lurker of people creative ideas and screenshots. Insightful, Agree, & Awesome.

Can't say I'm overly thrilled with the housing system it's a bit bland and while I should of expected BS crown store purchases for every bit of furniture..
I really think they could of allowed basic furniture to be made with out stealing farming diagrams for even the most basic furniture item..
Sure there needs to be a grind but it would have been better to be able like i said to make basic stuff BUT add the grind with better more stylish items..so it gives ppl incentive to upgrade there crappy sleeping bag on the ground to a 4 poster bed etc!

I can see a lot of potential for it, but the crafting aspect is just flawed to the point of ridiculous. The type of materials needed makes no sense and the amount needed is just silly. A wooden table for example should take wood to make, not an entire forest worth of wood, just a few pieces and maybe a single iron bar to make nails from. The worst part is the requirement to use crafting tempers for a decorative piece with no stats. Unless I can add powerful stats to this table and then use it as a shield in combat then there is no excuse for it to use even a single temper.

That said there a good reasons why ppl look at the AREN'T when other mmos ARE ..
So then the question becomes WHY DIDN'T THEY?

I find slowing down the pace, looking at the details of NPC's house decors, and grinding and finding those special furniture recipes, it's quite unique in the gaming industry now.
It's also got the elements of surprise and lottery like.

It's alright. Housing is fun and all, but not something I'd devote a massive amount of time/money into.

    I like the test dummy.

Being on xbox it's nice to hit something and actually do a rotations nd practice. other than being able to teleport without spending money (that's nice also) it's pointless tbh. I bought the cheapest house, bought a test dummy nd haven't used anything else from the homestead patch.....

Really shouldn't put distractions in front of us because after everyone is done looking at the shiny new houses you realize on xbox the trials are unplayable. Zoning you get kicked and dungeons r stupid laggy........

don't even get me started on the master writs

But the furniture needs more functionality, not necessarily "useful" as many see it but immersively useful like weapon racks you can press E to interact and character places equipped weapons there, a wardrobe that you can set to have certain costume/clothing and interacting with it, changes your home outfit. A trunk that you can interact to place stolen goods etc.

didn't think much of it in theory or on the pts but i'm kind of liking it, now.

that said, it needs to have storage capability and the assistants parked there need to be fully functional.

homesteads also need more item slots. home beautification is a never ending process.

(assistants should be fully functional everywhere, actually)

Even though I haven't purchased any houses yet (only have the free rooms) I'm enjoying Homestead. I'm working my way up to affording the homes I want and having the abilities/resources to decorate.

One thing though... I'm among those who believe that the Master Writ RNG should be adjusted. I have been writting my keister off and have only managed to get enough Master Writ action to amount to about 10 writ vouchers.

Housing is cool, and target skeletons are very nice. I just live at my guildies manors :)

However, there is no other real new content, and it's been like that since Dark Brotherhood. Also Housing is unfinished - storage is still not in though it is planned.

Also I've been having serious connection issues in ESO on my end somehow fir a month (slightly worse since Homestead arrived). My internet connection is perfect, stuff downloads very quickly, and all other games work flawless..... yet, ESO has lag spikes every 10sec and sometimes is bad enough to make enemies teleport.

I like that there are houses but a lot of this update introduced more problems, killed the stability, so overall I'm considering quitting entirely next week.

What good is adding content, if you're gameplay is noticeably worse in what you enjoy doing in the game. It's only stable in my house but not in any towns and problematic in dungeons due to animation changes and lag for performance on Xbox one.

Hmmm I'm betting ur still here after next week lol. 50k in game gold or Microsoft gift card? Kappa

There are lots of problems with it, but lots of good things too.

    HOUSING THINGS
    Housing Editor
The housing editor is great - much more flexible than I was expecting. The use of invisible walls inside houses (Black VIne Villa attic area) is frustrating. THEY HAVE REAL WALLS, USE THOSE!

The limit on items is disappointing. I'd like to see it doubled for inn rooms, and increased by 50% for small homes. Not sure about the larger ones as I can't afford them... :-(. Why cant you place more collectables? This needs just rolling into the total count.

    Furniture Crafting
It's great how many things you can craft - and while I had hoped for motif-based crafting, recipes is actually better because it allows for unique items. However - I haven't crafted anything yet as the only furnishing materials 've found are decorative wax and alchemical resin, but I don't have any recipes that don't need heartwood or bast... :-(. (In ZOSs defence, I have cut two whole pieces of wood since the update, so I'm not really expecting any heartwood). I'm expecting in general to not be happy with the number of material i need to craft things, as I doubt they changed it since PTS. But I'll find out when I get into it more.

    Furniture Vendors
At the moment I've been doing the garden. Lots of easy-to-get items for this. from vendors. I love just how many different plants are available. It's a bit frustrating that you have to guess which vendors sell which plants, sometimes it's easier than others. That the pink trees come from Auridon, for example, is easy to guess. However, where do you get birches? I have to admit, I resorted to using the crown store a couple of times when I was too lazy to go out any buy things. This includes things that I knew where to buy it from. It's wayyy too convenient to buy furniture with real money from there! I wish it had a separate section for crown EXCLUSIVE furnishing though. And i also wish there was nothing in that section right now.

I'm really happy with the available garden stuff - and I think that the achievement vendor stuff is great as well. I don't want anything, but i like that there are some unique items that you can buy, but still don't get really easily. My first purchases were the Trials of Eyevea reprints, the litany of blood, a dark brotherhood banner, and the Hanging Map of Tamriel. Very cool stuff.

Regarding Maps: more please! I like maps - and since there are maps of all the zones in the game, i'd like to see them as achievement furnishings in each zone. Maybe hanging maps for the zone pathfinder, and the table maps for the zone cave delver achievement?

    NON HOUSING THINGS
    User Inteface
I love that crafting now gets its own section in the Lore Library. I think that (on consoles at least), it might be a good idea to have another menu layer after Lore Library with Crafting, Eidatic Memory, Shalidors Library options - just to break up the list a bit. At the moment it's overwhelming and easy to scroll straight past what you are looking for.

I also like the new inventory layout. There is a bug where my Writ reward shipments go into "slottable" instead of supplies though.

    Balance
No idea - been housing the whole time...Don't really care about this to be honest, as I'm not a competitive raider/PvPer. AS long as my character is still viable for casual pve, i'm good. Although... I did try the target skeleton and got an abysmal score...

    TL;DR
See first sentence: There are lots of problems with it, but lots of good things too.

Being in PVP only not really noticed much at all, went into my menu bar and had a bit of a fuss around where everything was located again...also did Sorc pets get the buff? because if they did I'm not noticing anything in pvp at all ;) The only thing Im noticing at the moment is templar tanks seem to be impossible to beat, health goes down and then poof 100% again...how is this happening?! haha!

The long slog towards anything resembling a good foundation of availability of housing decor makes the housing system something a player like myself has no reason to get excited about this year.

Playing like I do, I can reasonably expect to have accumulated a decent amount of recipes to craft my own decor by sometime next year, give or take 6 months.

The rest of the update seems fine, but the housing itself? If I could play with it, I might have a brighter opinion. As it is, I need a few million more gold and a few score more decor recipes before I can call it anything but a million dollar pencil.

For me, it was a nice, free addition to my game. Sure, it doesn't do anything, but it's still nice that my character isn't homeless any more.

It would be even nicer if it had storage chests, weapon racks and more easily-gainable crafting stations, but whatever. :)

    Overall - yes.

I have one house where I have a mental garden you can barely get through, books piled all over and what was the downstairs kitchen is now my evil lair... others that are bare and I am crafting from the ground up as I find recipes... it's fun...

Target dummies are nice, I'm working on getting enough made so I can test sustained aoe not just single target dps... or maybe I'll build a many trials maze in my garden hmmm.... ;)

    The downsides:

That 'snap to' tool needs serious work. Wall coverings should not be sticking out horizontally people!

I have used my 700 item limit for my show-home!

Need some life... pet/mount animations.... occasional critters... in fact I like Ebonheart house the best simply because the ash falling from the volcano makes it seem more 'alive' than some of the others.

Too many new farmers for my liking, get back to your gaming and stick to buying stuff off me!
