Inventory management epic issue in ESO

A lot of people say how come the inventory system in this game is so broken? From ZOS' perspective it's not, they want it just as it is to sell people the digital opiate known as the Subscription, or in street parlance, 'Crafting Bag'.

It seems to me we have a HOARDER issue and the player cannot admit to being a hoarder, most can't admit they have a problem. So instead of blaming themselves, it's easier to blame ZOS for not making easier to hoard stuff. As others have noted, most sets are not even worthwhile, and even ones that are will be outdated shortly by newer sets... and even then, having sets and not upgrading them to purple or gold pretty much makes them worthless anyway. So what's the point of holding on to them other than being a hoarder without being able to admit to that simple fact?!?

This is a game, and most of us pay to be here. With the RNG as it is in this game, it is NOT a problem on the user end.

This forum DOES have a huge problem with trolls though; more than any other forum I have participated on.

Simple. They want you to buy ESO+. They will keep introducing new crafting items with each patch and keeping maximum storage static. Simple as that.

Why isn't there a mule option for a character slot that can carry much more than a standard toon?

    Why ZOS? Why?

Why don't we have more storage and inventory management options in ESO? What is the justification?

ZOS could be selling these options, and they would be eagerly purchased even if grossly over priced.....and we STILL don't have the option available even at an exorbitant cost. Why?

It's a constant struggle. I have been playing since beta and still can't find a place to put all my items. So you aren't alone.

Fully upgraded. I find the game unplayable without the crafting bag at this point, and as I can't justify the sub constantly that means I don't play.

Has anything been leaned from this? Not likely.

Just wanted to recap how much inventory space players actually have without the crafting bags ... since these kinds of threads get somewhat tiring:

12 characters with purchased bag upgrades (up to 140 each character) = 1,680 slots
    Mount bag space upgrades (12 mounts x 60) = 720 slots
Personal bank space (with upgrades) = 240 slots

    Total: 2,640

Personal Guild Banks = 500 slots each (up to 2,500); limit of 5 guild banks

If a player doesn't have any personal guild banks, we're still approaching 2,700 inventory slots ... not including the crafting bags or stacked inventory.

So, the first question for any player feeling constricted on inventory ... have you hit 2,640 character and bank slots yet?

I disagree ... like most of the other forum-goers in this thread. If you can't manage what you have in 2,600+ inventory slots that's your own fault.

You know you don't actually have to pick up everything and don't have to have a lot of different sets in your bank or on alts for a rainy day. It's entirely up to you if you do this.

Any Inventory issue faults really do lie at the feet of the user. 200 bank space and 200 inventory space; that's a lot of capacity. If we can't work within those boundaries we've no one to blame but ourselves.

Inventory issues are not the problems they use to be in the past. Players really need to stop blaming ZoS for everything and take some responsibility.

Holding a mere two stacks of every crafting material needed to do crafting writs and recipes at level 50 is easily enough to fill up a fully upgraded bank on this game (240). And that is excluding lower tier crafting materials. So good luck holding on to extra materials in case a lower-level friend needs something made. And this is not even including gear - which can complicate this problem another tend-fold.

So unless you are a subscriber on this game and have access to the crafting bag to supplement your inventory - this game simply does not give you the necessary storage capacity to effectively manage your inventory. So I wouldn't blame the user. I would even go so far as to say this game seems intentionally designed that way to encourage more subscribers.

It requires at least 10 separate accounts on your guild before you have access to the guild bank. So how are we suppose to have personal guild banks?

I hope you aren't advising us to buy 10 games so we can create 10 separate accounts to put in a personal guild, as that would be unreasonable to put it mildly.

From one eso+ player to another, you are right.
If you don't have eso+ you have an problem. its not so much about hoarding that is if you don't pick up crafting materials at all.

    It is by design.

Players are more likely to stick around in an MMO if they're in a guild. For lots of reasons. This is why ZO a) made it so that you need 10 active guild members to use the guild bank and b) severely limited player inventory and bank size relative to crafting materials etc.

I think it backfired though. Many players just had an awful time trying to manage their inventory and pissed off.

But secondary benefit - the game sold more copies which gives the false impression of it being more popular. Players buying second accounts just for a few more mules. Or possibly more accounts to give them access to guild banks.

Presently the only relief from the inventory pinch is the crafting bag. So subscribe or suffer.

Have to be ruthless. How hard is the stuff your stashing to actually replace. probably not that hard if you've managed to fill all your storage with them already.

I had a serious look at what I was storing and got rid of a whole lot. enough I think I have it where i doubt ill need a crafting bag again. there has only been one DLC that I figure was worth subbing for, craft bag aside, so I bought it instead.

Turn off auto loot helps as well so much superfluous crap on mobs. most of the useless stuff is only useful because writs sometimes ask for them, easiest solution is make a note of these and to have that stuff in the bank or guild bank to share and pretty soon you don't even need to make the stuff. its already made.

There are valid points to each side of this issue. If you haven't maximized bag and bank space, you create your own problem. The cost is really not that much, as it is so easy to make gold in this game. If you have no gold, again that is on you from either an earning or spending problem, both of which can be addressed. There are inventory issues, and there are reasonable ways to manage them (buying extra copies of the game is not reasonable IMO).

On the other hand, anyone who gives zos a pass on the limited inventory needs a reality check. Inventory has been a consistent complaint since launch, enough so that zos increased the limit at least three time in assorted ways. Finally, they gave us the craft bag, for a price. Now that inventory has been effectively monetized (and I mean dollars, not gold), zos has everything to gain and nothing to lose to keep adding more items to stress inventory and slyly increase the pressure to get a craft bag. Before the craft bag, I had as many mules as alts. The craft bag freed enough space to let me level all the mules to fully playable alts. If I could keep the craft bag and not subscribe, I would unsub in a heartbeat, just because it feels like being held hostage. The fact is that even though there are ways to manage inventory without a craft bag, inventory is so much easier with one. zos has us over a barrel, and they know it. Accept it and move on, begrudge it and play in frustration, or quit playing. Pretty much the only options.

I know some are saying it is unreasonable to buy a second copy of the game, but it also appears that some are prepared to pay pretty well any price to get a bigger inventory expansion from the Crown Store. You can get the game for PC on Amazon in the UK for £7.60 at the moment, that's equivalent to less than 1,300 Crowns. If that's the sort of price you're prepared to pay in the Crown Store to resolve the inventory problem, then perhaps the idea of getting a second copy of the game isn't so unreasonable after all. I don't know how it works out in the US or on console.

Kinda of amazed this is even a discussion. As other's have pointed out, you have literally thousands of inventory slots available.

I've done the mule thing before. It's a little tedious but it works fine.

Now about the sets. Why are you hoarding so many sets? Seriously. You won't use all 200 of those and at some point they HAVE to be duplicates if they're from the 2pc monster sets. Decon them or something.

If you're just hoarding a bunch of useless stuff, it's not the game's issue. It's your issue.

If I was hoarding lvl 5 glyphs because "an alt might use them", it wouldn't be ZoS fault that my bank is running out of space. It would be mine.

Either quit being a hoarder or keep this crap to yourself.

"Inventory management epic issue in ESO"

    When fully upgraded:
    - 240 slots in bank
    - 200 slots per character (by default you can have 8 characters)
    so... 200 x 8 = 1600 + 240 = 1840 slots ? ?

    In total:
1840 slots (I understand that it will took like 1 - 2 years and a lot of gold, but still.. that is the "free" amount of space you can have, without using a craft bag).

I don't understand only.... why you would need that much ? :o
If you have bank fully upgraded it is more than enough to store all crafting materials (from all crafting branches + even 5 stack of ore, wood, leather & silk) - and still you are left with like 5 - 10 free slots. So If you want to "collect" all set gear then just upgrade on of your characters and use that 200 extra slots for just storing gear, and keep only crafting materials in bank.

Seven mules plus the bank is1640 available slots. This means disabling SEVEN toon slots to use for storage, so my toon capaity is only five toons now to accommodate storage issues in game.

It is grossly inappropriate for anyone to tell me, a person who has invested more than $1300 into this game, cash money, that I don't have a right to complain about storage. I have EVERY right to complain about storage. For my investment, I shouldn't have to be tying up even one single toon to use for storage. Not even one.

Storage is an epic problem in this game now. I spent another 5 hours in game yesterday managing my inventory. Most people don't even have that kind of time to put into the game over the entire weekend.

I'm not going to let this issue die, and I'm not going to accept little trolls telling me I don't have a right to complain about how storage capacity has been a total boondogle in ESO since it's inception, and has only gotten exponentially worse with every dlc. This is a great game, but the lack of storage issue is becoming unacceptable.

I'll remind everyone, too, you don't get to include "mules" in your storage calculations either. "mules" are toon slots for playable toons, not storage. We only have 240 available storage slots in all of ESO, for all 12 toons combined. ESO only offers 240 available storage slots. Anything else is us disabling one of our toons to use it for storage because ZOS doesn't offer enough to begin with.

Storage is an epic issue in ESO now, and something needs to be done to address the issue more than a year ago.

No. ZOS only offers 240 slots for in game storage. Toons are toons intended to be played, not disabled to be used for storage.

Looking at the fact most items are bind on pickup as well as the insane amount of grinding you need for the rng in this game, atleast you should be able to keep every set in your bank. This is far from possible atm.

I got ESO+, my toons and bank are always full. Its a pain... Its simply not fun when the majority ýou spend in the game is about inventory management. Gets worse if Iam playing with non-subscribers and they have to sort their inventory after like every fight...

And I only keep divines, impenetrables (if usefulf for PvP) and maybe infused for armor and precise and sharpened for weapons. If I knew that whenever I decide to use a certain set on one of my chars I could go and get those set items in a short amount of time with the desired traits I could sell or decon those items, however the item/trait grind is too much to bear to even risk losing a divine set item I already found, for instance when farming for something else.

I conclude with my often stated wish for the following feature:
#1 when you decon a set-item you have a (good) chance to retrieve a set-crafting item
#2 when crafting at any crafting station you can additionaly chose to use one of said items to craft a single Item of that set. -> the item from #1 is consumed on use

For balance purpose these items could be bound to their armor type (so if needed for balance reasons you could prevent people from creating for instance a Heavy Armor version of the Elegance set)

This would make the whole game less grindy, help with the inventory management and boost the crafting economy by 1000000%.
ZOS would not even need to create more craftable sets. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAND motifs would finally be usefull... god beware... :open_mouth:

max level: mDK, stamBlade, stamSorc, magPlar, mDen, stamDen, magBlade, stamCro
    ESO+
    # of mules: 4 (FULL)
    maxed bank: FULL -_-
Stop the grind! Get rid of stupid events and daily-quest gallore. Get rid of "have a chance of 1 in a million to get a piece of 1 in 30 to get a stupid motif or pet... wtf..."
And at this point just remove all classes and have everyone choose their set of skills. then balance accordingly to skills always used vs. skills never used.
