CP Cap Increase in Morrowind...

I say no no no no. It's already bad enough. There is PLENTY of cp. If anything, reduce diminishing returns, allowing higher values with the same ammount of CP. It's pretty bad that 600's already have so much advantage over ther sub 300 players. If CP keeps getting raised, then PVP will be destroyed. No one wants to compete with someone who has a 20% stat advantage over them. My votes no. I already hate CP how it is.

Just play in Azura star where there is no cp or grind up to the cap. Just look at cp as levels, would you not expect to see a level 50 more powerful than a level 40?

And then people playing ESO in 15 years will be dealing with a cap of 2000+ and they'll say "no thanks" like people do when they look at Everquest or Asherons Call or Lord of the Rings Online. Power creep is a problem and I think it's great that the base level for PVE is going to stay at 160 so they can focus on making the game super optimized for 160 like ArenaNet did with Guild Wars 1 and they stuck with their cap throughout 3 expansions.

You guys really don't think this through. The higher it goes, the more intimidating it is for newcomers. I'd prefer to have a community in 15 years instead of see my numbers go up.

ESO is not going to last 15 years LOL

People said the same thing about Ultima Online / Everquest and it's approaching its 20th anniversary. What reason does it have to die? They own the IP. They can keep it going as long as they want.

I won't be around if they don't allow my character to progress.
Newcomer have catch up mechanics giving them CP faster than ever.

Character progression is possible without numbers going up. Guild Wars did this well. By the third year, it was super optimized for the cap and it was awesome. I'll be leaving if there's power creep and I say this as someone who is a relatively high CP level. The higher the cap goes, the harder and more intimidating it is for newcomers and I value newcomers far more than the people that want to have 3000CP in a PVP campaign.

I fear they're gonna increase CP cap in gear! :fearful:

To clarify, we do not plan on raising the gear cap when Morrowind launches in June. We’ll let you know when we plan to raise the gear cap in the future, but it won’t be in Homestead or Morrowind.

Didn't know that! Great, so I will at least stay around until the update after homestead :) the longer they wait with that though the more rage they will have when they do it :D

What is your basis for your opinion? While I think Zos is looking at to large of a pool of players in determining 30 CP most quarters, at least they have a basis for their opinion.

Well its an expansion so it raising cp by 30 would be a slap In the face.

Lets say they never increased the cp cap then can I sell the cp I've already earned for rewards I have 723 cp currently by years end I'll probably be close to 900 and that extra Cp just sits there I can't use it so can I sell it or something it really bothers me that I have 123+ cp just sitting there unused forever.

fo sho. its a hiding to nothing. Stuff is either going to be crazy hard for new 160's or stupid easy for anyone at the higher end of cap.

Maybe zos should have just tweaked the veteran system. When it comes to a progression system, zos has two strikes. Many players hated the vet system, so strike one. The fact that zos was forced to cap CP is evidence enough of strike two. They should be working on a new system and praying it's not strike three.

I hope that when Morrowind releases we get a huge CP cap increase this 30-39cp every patch has been weak.

Since this is an expansion I hope they increase cp cap by a minimum of 100 cp I would like to see it higher since it's an expansion but 100 seems just right not to high not too low.

So what do you guys think?

Good luck with that. They don't often do cp increases anyways. The issue is cp is a broken concept too begin with. Especially in pvp. I'm capped and feel way over powered against low level players. In pve I can solo most content, except for the occasional world boss and vet dungeons etc... I'd say be glad we get one period.

Speaking as a relatively high CP level player, I would be perfectly fine if they got rid of CP altogether though keeping CP160 as the progression cap would be just fine. I think it's quite ridiculous that the progression doesn't end at 50, or CP160. It goes on and on and on until the cap is reached and ONLY at that point is an entire Cyrodiil campaign considered viable.

Allowing us to go above CP160 was a mistake. People discriminate against anyone under 300, it ruins the aforementioned Cyrodiil campaign, it allows people to solo extremely difficult content due to power creep and it intimidates new players.

Do like they did in EQ. AA Autogrant for membership.

So when a new player is a member and hits 50, they get 300, 600, or whatever half or three quarters of the cap is and only need to do the last stretch.

The daunting part about EQ is NOT its AA's or even 110 levels. You can get all that in a week.

I am glad they raised it to 600 so now we get 200/ tree, the ideal would be 1080, not because of screen resolution but because that would unlock the full potential of each tree's passive.

    120 points / tree

( even though I probably won't put 120 points into each tree )

However I am content with the 600 for now it feels good enough...

I think the whole "max CP cap" is just to wave a carrot in front of the players eyes

    NO.

CP inflate damage and survivability and sustain without any tradeoffs. The higher the CP cap goes, the less skill will be involved in this game, and you WILL get bored of a skilless, effortless game in time no matter how cool your "progression" feels in the short term.

I'm at cap, and I'd prefer to either have it stay where it is, or remove CP all-together.

It was fun one shorting lowbies for a little while, but I think balance, and encouraging new players to the game is better for the longevity of the community, and should be prioritized.

600cp is already intimidating enough for a new/returning player.

The bigger the community, the better for all of us IMO.

I agree. Again the cp system is a cool concept but entirely broken and misused. It breaks good balance in pvp along with proc sets of course. And in pve most people ive ran into look down on you for trials and even dungeons if you aren't capped. There's gotta be a better system than cp. Yes its a good carrot too dangle for some people for a while, but when your capped it stops doing much for you. Most end game players min/max so most points go into a select few trees anyways. So the variety in trees is relatively useless as well.

It would have a lot more useful for a new player to have earned 160CP (and been able to allocate progressively along the way) by the the time they hit 50. For an alt perhaps 160 form lvl1 and then have to earn their own.

    @RebornV3x

This would only be the case of they were raising the gear cap. ESO has not raised level cap like other games to begin with so it should not be expected now.

At release, we had veteran ranks, also used as gear cap. It started out with vet 10. Since the vet rank grind was terribad, a significant part of players hadn't even reached that rank, when ZOS increased both, level cap and gear cap to vet 12.

By the time most players reached v12, it was once again increased to v14. Shortly before 1T, the cap for both player and gear was again increased by two ranks to v16.

The switch to champion ranked gear, while not a cap increase per se (Vet16 was converted into CP160), the massive overhaul of itemization and buff mechanics effectively can be seen as gear increase as builds were completely revamped.

So far, ESO had 4 major gear cap increases in less than 3 years. I do not understand your statement at all.
