Why am I forced to start the game again to use the new Warden class?

Everyone is "Wow! Warden! New class! OMG! So cool! Warden! Wow!"... ... ...

I only use one character and I do everything with him in the game, from PvE, to PvP, to try go get all achievements in the game, etc.

So, new content is coming, I have to pay for it if I want it, but I'm forced to put my current character aside and play all the game again if I want to use the Warden? Why? (I know Morrowind has a lot of stuff to do, but this thread points to the use of the new class only).

Why I can't have an option to use the Warden with the character I have now (class change)?

Why am I forced to start the game from scratch and repeat all I have been doing for +2 years if I want to play with the Warden?

Or, am I also forced to create a Warden character, don't do any PvE (well, forcedly some to level it up) and use it for PvP only?

Why this game forces people to have more than one character and so do all things over again?

How I see things; ZOS doesn't think nor cares for players that play just one character.

Class change please, even if with crowns.

You aren't "forced" to do anything. You don't have to make a warden char, let alone buy it. If you don't want to lvl a new char, which takes hardly any time, then don't.

    Because it's an addition.

This is how new classes work in games, this is why I said people would rage if they added one. This game is not by any means alt friendly due to SP and Skill Line gains, as such adding new classes is just going to make people mad they have to do it all again.

I'm sorry @CarbonX, but what you are saying make no sense. In every game (except FFXIV which has a system of multiclasses) if you want to play another class, you need to play another character.
New class is added, you CAN, if you so WISH, to create a new character and enjoy it.

The game is supposed to be fun. You are supposed to enjoy to start the game again to level a new class. Playing ESO is not supposed to be a chore. And if you do not enjoy it, DO NOT DO IT! I'm pretty sure you have other stuff more important in your life to focus on than leveling or not leveling a new character in a video game.

    Take care of yourself! Peace!

You have to do the same if you want to play any class that is not your character's current class.
I'm a bit confused how you could possibly think it would be any other way.
If you can be anything, be kind.

Well they could offer a start off at 160 champ for the warden? (of course it will need to be paid for) Some player's don't actually get a lot of time to level characters and it can take months. I can understand the frustration of leveling a character from the beginning up again...OR they could allow class switch on a character you already have leveled up..but in this situation you are kind of stuck... but if they did allow class switch, you could always switch it back again...however this still does not help the fact you will need to level out your skill line from the beginning. I am now champ 414 and that has taken me 2 years, but I do have numerous characters I play...although i normally just stick with the 3 at level 50 now. I am also a PVP player so I understand exactly what you are saying.

The problem is how grindy such things are in this game.

Half a year to upgrade your Mount for example.

Crafting research that will take another 3-4 months per Item to unlock all traits - so if you want to be a fully traited crafter for all crafts you are looking at around a year.

Questing and dungeon achievement are not too bad.

But overall such things in this game are far too grindy - more than almost any other Western MMORPG.

So when a new Class comes out it makes perfect sense to have a Class Change Token. Even if it is a single token that comes with buying the Expac so that players can transfer to the new class if they wish.

The other obvious alternative is, like most other games in the genre, have such unlocks and achievements account wide - so that once done they apply to all characters.

ESO seems to think is can have the uber-grind and not have a class change token - that is a sure fire way of making it a lot harder to retain subs over time, especially as new classes etc go live.

    All The Best
Those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse.
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse.

I have 10 characters here, so I'm not keen on starting a new one, but I can just go to the PTS instead and use a template to see what Warden is like. Those on console have no such option that I am aware of. As others have said this is typical for MMORPGs except a few like FFXIV (which is a big strength of that game).

If Zenimax were to allow "Classe change" or "Boost your character to lv 50 scroll" poeple would scream P2W. World of Warcraft only allowed themselves to do that after more than 10 years of existance, and 100 level to go to.

I mean....it's a game. You do this for fun. Don't find it fun, don't do it. What's the point of playing a game if ... you don't enjoy the game?

while I'm not opposed to the idea of buying a level 50 alt (assuming the main was at least 50), it takes ~10 hours to grind from 1 to 50 so trying to say it takes months is a bit of a stretch.

If you only play one character when you have dozzens of other class/race/roles combos now then why would you want to play the warden anyways??

Wardens will be as new to you as any other class you don't play now. you can can just keep playing with your one character like you are used to

No one is forcing you to do anything. You can still play your one single toon. However, you won't have the fun of trying a new class. My recommendation would be to turn that frown upside down and play the class to 50 - it's not that hard to get there and all the fluff you've gotten (achievements, titles, etc) can be earned over time.

I'm actually looking forward to it. Just a month ago i was thinking to myself, "i wish i had some excuse to level up another character from scratch". I find the early levels to be the most fun. And i'll be able to do so in a completely new environment too, which is a bonus.

It's game for one and leveling up characters is part of the game play, your not "forced" to do anything, don't like it don't play it, they at not going to give you a cp 160 warden no matter how much you whine about it, they want you in game and playing because the longer you are in the game there is always aa chance you will buy something from the crown store in their minds any way.

I think in all my years of online play and this go back to the 90's I have never in my life seen a gaming community like this one they find more things to complain about than there are features in the game, I have to laugh it is pretty funny stuff and most of it is so unrealistic.

Well yeah, but everyone is in the same boat.
You work with what you currently have. If things change 2 years in the future then too bad.

Besides it doesn't take long to level an alt to 50 and with shared CP you'll be Max level in no time.

I checked my new lvl48 character, 9 hours play time. Just from questing and dungeons.

But then I enjoy the game and don't mind leveling an alt every now and then. In fact I'm looking forward to leveling a warden frost tank.

I don't get the obsession with forcing people to start a fresh character to play a class. For the record, I enjoy the levelling experience.

With Morrowind, I want TWO Wardens, one absolutely new and probably stamina built, and one... as my current main, a character I've played for 2 years and would have made a Warden instead of a Templar if available. Why not let me give ZOS some $$$ to make that happen? Seriously, one good reason, anyone

Not everything must be done again. People don't remember how it was when you had to level veteran levels for each alt individually. Now you get CP's for free courtesy of previous chars.

Today we have it easy, real easy if you don't plan to make every char a master crafter.
