Homes prices, what do you think?

Now that we know the prices of houses in Homestead, what do you think of them? Do you find them cheap, OK or expensive? Or maybe "way too..."?

If you haven't seen them yet, apartments costs between 11k and 13k, small homes between 40k and 74k, medium homes between 190k and 335k, large homes between 760k and 1.3 million and manors around 3.7 million.

I think the large homes and manors are too expensive.

I would have preferred large homes top off around 500k, manors at 1 mill tops.

For people who do not belong to high end trading guilds - making this kind of gold isn't going to be easy. It's doable, but it's going to take a long time.

This. I've only once topped 100k in the bank. Fair enough, it could have been a bit more if I hadn't needed to buy things like nirnstoned items to research and what have you, but either way I honestly doubt that all the gold I've ever handled would even add up to 3.7 million (yes, I have Hero). It looks like the only way for me to ever afford the house I've earned is to stop playing the way I like and Google gold farming instead.

I find Grymharth's Woe overpriced compared to the other mediums, since it lacks any outdoor area. No garden, no proper balcony. Some of the smaller houses have just as much usable space when including the garden as Grymharth's Woe seem to have.

I like them. A very good gold sink.

For people whining about how they never even had more than 200k: you never had more because there was pretty much no reason to have more than that.

Now you have a reason and you will realize how easy it is to stack gold in this game.

Considering that everyone gets a free apartment those prices seem very reasonable. They should be huge gold sinks for sure. Anyone that doesn't actually want to work for the gold to spend on one, can easily get by with the free apartment.

I am nearing 6 mil in gold but do not envisage blowing it on the larger houses, just like I still ride around on my original 10k brown horse - you do not get rich by spending your gold :D

I've got maybe a quarter of that...but I often ask myself..."what am I going to do with all my imaginary gold?"

Now...if we could just get it out of the game someway...... :)

I think the pricing is reasonable. It'll cost you thousands, one way or another, to furnish the larger homes. If you can't afford the base cost of the home, you probably can't afford to fill it.

But let's not oversell the free room. You had more space in the Wailing prison cell than you'll have in the Rosey Lion. At the very least, if you are away from a wayshrine, you have a free port to Daggerfall. Drop a banker in, load screen, inn merchants, load screen, wayshrine out back. Makes for quickish pit stops. You have modest room for decor, table, chair, and lamp, but that's about it.

This all strikes me just like real life.
Most people do not live in multi-million dollar mansions very, very few do. The "rich".
Then the proverbial white collar classes living in the large homes and blue collars in the medium and small homes.
And finally the down-trodden, unemployed or finacially challenged residing at the inn on a week to week paycheck.

My only thought is that for 3.7 million I expect more bang for my hard earned buck than what I've seen in some of the manors; they are nice, but not outstanding. The DC Manor for example, it is the same keep model used in other areas of the DC; I'd like more room to include a proper area for kitchen and a dungeon with cells (the one there I'm likely to make into a library as is done in Alcaire Castle version so I'd like additional dungeon space).

The way I see it, the mansions are really for guildhalls. They do need an increase in population cap. A large or even a medium house will work fine for most people. The housing prices are about what I expected.

The gold prices are more reasonable than I expected, to be honest, especially for the small homes. I am really liking that.

I had planned to have about 1m by release, thinking that would be enough for a large home... But now I need to save like crazy to at least get closer to affording a Manor.

I don't care for myself, the Inn room should be more than fine for me. But we are hoping to set up a guild hall, and I want to be able to offer all the options I can when we pick.

I honnestly find the prices relatively fair. Quite happy about it.

Masions NEED to be expensive. It's meant to be purchased by either a group of players OR by rich individual. It must be a amazing goal to achieve for players.

Running around PTS looking at the houses :)<3 ; I`m quite happy about the pricing, especially of the small and medium ones- cant really say about the large ones cause they so "way out there" for my current budget... But I really wanted a meaningfull gold sink (besides motifs) for my type of pve play, questing, light roleplay and exploring and I think the prices fit that quite well.

Will be able to afford the Rawl medium house when this goes live, plus maybe one or two smaller ones, and I only belong to one nice, steady and good but maybe not "top of the pops" trade guild - also I do steal a lot ;). I`d like my chars to have their "own" homes even though the homes are rly acount bound, and I think accomplishing the gold and achievements for that will be a fun ongoing quest for me for quite some time.
And I hope I´ll be playing ESO for a very long time to come, so those large houses are really a different kind of endgame for a rp- housing enthusiast ;)

Hopefully they'll introduce burglaries (a bit like GTA 5 heists), security that costs on a weekly basis, etc  Then I can rob all of the rich sods in their lovely mansions. More fun than gold farming!

The prices aren't bad...Imho. Been playing less than a month and I can already afford a few of the lower end houses. Doubt I'll ever get a manor, but I do want something with an outside area.

The way I see it, the mansions are really for guildhalls.

This is my thinking as well. Watching a few streamers and they were mentioning stuff along those lines.

I'm a bit sad that I won't be able to afford a larger home with in-game gold... but I nonetheless think it was handled excellently, because that's the point. No matter what your income is, you now have a sink to throw gold into. Not everyone should be able to afford the big houses... that's what makes them so prestigious!

"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."

Very surprised actually. A decent home is actually (at least in my opinion) rather cheap.

Pretty expensive for me. Playing since release (preordered emperial edition) and have only 400 000 gold. I understand they want us to buy it for crowns, but I'm not so reach to pay so many money for everithing in b2p game. And I'm not the member of top trading guild who not playing game but trading 24/7.
Yes-yes this is 1 time purchase with all houses shared for account, but there is alot of other ways to spent my gold as well I cant play for homes only too.
I'm pretty shure thats manor's prises (3,5 millions) is fine, because this is a really unique houses, but also I belive what regular (small, medium, large) houses should be cheaper just for a regular players who just want to play the game.

Not bad. I'd like to see more utility in the houses though. Currently, it just feels like everything is a facade. Even the mansion windows look really blend. I've seen the graphical prowess the devs are able to achieve and I think they can do alot better with the housing windows than what we currently have on the PTS.

Overall, prices seem ok, but the 3 alliance manors are out-of-line. I've only seen Daggerfall's so far, and it's disappointing for the price. As far as space, it seems not much bigger than some of the nicer houses like Earthtear in Craglorn and Forbidden Fortress in Bangorai. Worse, Daggerfall Manor is just the same as existing castles already in the game. For the price, I would expect some more original design work. It seems to me the price is just to pay for a title. And don't forget, after you drop all that gold, you still have to furnish the manor. From PTS, crafting furniture looks like a HUGE time sink.

I guess for players that have amassed a lot of gold these are decent prices... but for me with a grand total around 600k gold in all 12 of my characters... I'll be saving my gold for the golden Cyrodiil vendor where a similar amount of gold for a tiny shoebox house will buy me a useful monster piece. Or for half the price of a nice sized house I could buy gold set jewelry.

I really like the layout of some of the larger houses & the artists at ZOS have done a great job creating them .. but I can only afford the shoeboxes :(

I think it's too expensive. I've been playing since pre-release with no breaks and am nowhere close to getting manors. Which means that if I want those achievements/titles, I will need to stop playing the game and spend all my time making gold. That would suck and could lead to me just burning out, because making gold in such amounts is kinda boring for me.

On the other hand, if houses had no titles/achievements tied to them, I'd have no issue.

After seeing Deltia do some previews I personally think some houses are too cheap and others are too expensive. IMO the Orc medium home for example for 325,000 is better than most of the large homes for 700,000-1,200,000. That's my personal opinion though, I'm sure hundreds of other players will prefer the Argonian houses.
