The cheapest spam dps ability now has average cost, wow, such a nurf! Anyways, Strife doesn't hurt sustain now and I think won't hurt it in the future, coz it is Sap and Shields (harness, dampen, healward) and another stuff dry your mana, not spammable attack.
You can gain 8% damage increase almost for free, and now Force \ Crushing being unreflectable is a decent alternative to Strife in PvP.
I'm more disappointed that Concealed weapon didn't receive any improvements.

Point is, it's a nerf. Currently they are one of the weakest classes in PvP and PvE DPS. Why nerf them AT ALL? Yet stamblade and stamsorc for instance, got no nerfs. How does that make any sense?

Meanwhile stamplar is the rarest spec and got nothing at all. Magplar PvE dps is hurt too by the way. No justice in life!

Umm.. It'll still cost less than force pulse. My current tooltip w/ swallow soul is 1003. A %38 increase in cost will bring it up to 1381 making it cost less than force pulse which costs me around 1980 and I can easily sustain with that. I don't see what the huge deal is.
This, heck can easily get under 1000. Plus the da mage and heal are solid. Everything will be fine.
for a class that was already not doing that well in comparison to other classes getting a nerf no matter how minor 'you' think it is, is a very big deal.
Look to the new magicka steal debuff. That 400 magicka per sec will easily make up for the cost to strife. Plus black rose now has a magicka passive meaning it is going to be awesome for sap tanks.
New sap tank: black rose with SnB/Ice Staff!

What pve magicka nightblades(or magicka dps classes in general) are running around with 1300 recovery? Like yeah in pvp this change is pretty insignificant(which is sad bc that's the group being targeted) but in pve running the atronach plus any piece of recovery gear is a huge dps loss for the lowest performing mag dps in the game.
That being said, being the lowest performing magicka dps in the game was completely fine for 99 percent of the player-base because the magicka nightblade still added great utility and was excellent for solo content like vma(second easiest class to complete vma on when the trial first released after sorcerer.) However, if they're going to remove resource cost efficiency and utility(funnel health nerf a few months back) they need to compensate with damage.

Remember you get 1k back for every staff attack, plus a 10% chance. I run at 1600 recovery. I don't use this melon baked pork, run Witchmothers, slightly less health and max magika but with recovery and vamp (stack with the 10% passive) and it makes life infinitely easier (only for magblade with swallow soul) for instance I don't even need to use a single potion for flawless vma runs using this stuff.
Adapt people adapt.
