How many identical homes can we have in Homestead?

So I was wondering this question. I want to have two houses in Windhelm, the medium Nord sized one, and I was wondering if this is possible. Or we can only have one. Anybody knows for sure?

I have an impression that houses are account bound, not character bound, so you can have only one of the same type.

f you're a hero struck with wanderlust, you're in luck – you can own multiple homes, so you will always have a place to hang your hat. If you dream of eventually owning every available home, you can. All homes are account-based, so every one of your characters will have access to them once purchased.

Guess we'll find out by the time it goes PTS in a few weeks. If not, you could always pick up a second account, buy the house again on that one, and give permissions to your main account.

So, you originally wanted to be able to walk up to 123 main st, windhelm, and have a choice whether the door leads to purchased-house-1 or leads to purchased-house-2?

To decorate it differently for different characters. Which might not be an option.

I wish the homestead's were based in a multiplayer Instance like LOTRO had. It was great knowing you were in the same neighbourhood as some game legends and seeing their Raid loot/server first rewards out in their front lawn. Nothing puts the C in community like someone's head on a pike amidst the roses.

That could be possible, if you enter the instance at some sort of front gate and then we're in a front yard.

    While, as a roleplayer, I understand, I can't say I empathize.

See, in my headcanon, my characters all know one another. They're basically part of a small company that shares a bank and vision statement. That means they're all part of the same universe and as such... having duplicate houses doesn't really make sense. If Nephikah owns the house in Deshaan, that means it doesn't make sense for Lorelai to also own it and have it decorated differently. Because, in my characters' mutual canon, Nephikah already owns that hypothetical house.

My plan is to eventually buy them all the house most suited to their tastes, but if there's one that suits multiple characters, the character who can buy it first gets dibs, or maybe they can own it jointly as roommates if it's a larger one. Separate instances would be immersion-breaking for me.

But I suppose if your characters don't have a shared canon, then that's not really a concern for you. *shrug*

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

No you can't, the homes are prebuilt and instanced, and from what I assume, only one exists in each zone.
