Which gender do you choose to play in-game and why?

I play both. Every so often I make a new character based on a visual concept that just pops up, or I get a new idea for the character creation. Some styles stick, some don't.

At the end of the day, the sex (OP misused gender, there's no gender in the cultural lore for any of the races in the game) of the character doesn't matter.

I play both. I am female, but I am not so hung up on my gender that I have to always play a female character. Its fun to play a male character sometimes and in many (particularly FPS) games there isn't a choice of gender which doesnt bother me. I am glad ESO and all the MMOs Ive played have a choice though.I usually make my male characters "pretty" to look at.

I always try to model the character after myself I guess so I can imagine its me playing through the story lines. It always feels odd to me and throws my immersion off a bit to play a female in game. Plus a few years back I did play a female character and it always made for awkward moments when some dude assumed I was a chick and tried to get all cuddlebuddy with me.

I do have an elderly, blind, drunken level 28 male dark elf sourcerer though, so I'm fine with playing either.

I remember one of the first times I grouped up in cyrodiil...had never played an mmo before and really didn't have much of a clue about how other folks played...

back then when I grouped I mostly just listened in, and never talked (took me a few months to figure out how to leave the group channel)...

after a while I was trying to match up characters, names and voices...

I remember seeing this tall, blond, scantily clad nord female character - i saw their character's name: 'some black guy'...then I heard their voice - deep and gravelly...

the whole experience kind of freaked me out a bit...

I've never really got the whole rational behind cross gender character identification...not judging in the very least (many authors do a fantastic job at writing either gender)...

I guess my imagination just isn't good enough...

Totally agree. Who sits and stares at their character's ass anyway? Most armor you couldn't see it anyway because of butt/crotch flaps...

The hip sway is quite noticeable though, to be honest. Not to mention there's no butt flap on Khajiit and Argonians cause of their tails.

I put both since that's technically true, but 9 times out of 10 I will pick male, especially if I can make him hot. If there's a choice of premade characters, example Assassins Creed Syndicate, I will also usually pick the dude.

I don't really know why but I typically alternate.

I don't think it is quite as simple as stam as male and magicka as female even though that is how it is currently, I only have two characters so far I don't expect that to stay that way.

My male character looks nothing like me (I just wanted to jump straight into the game and was pretty lazy with that one) but I deliberately made my female character look a little like my friend and I ask her what she wants her to wear ha ha ha. Its all purple and black and it actually looks pretty awesome.

I think it can come down to if you control or play your character?

I know people that can only play one gender of league of ledgends character and that actually restricts your strategic options.
